Anchors Fish & Chips and Seafood Grill

Can't believe I forgot to get a pic! Ordered delivery with the clam chowder in sourdough bowl. Soup and sourdough were both delicious and hit the spot. They even buttered the top which brought it to the next level. Nothing like CA sourdough. Going to have to visit again before I head home! Friend had the lobster roll and fries. Said it was good but not the best ever. Tried the fries and they were delicious! San Pedro Square is always fun but it was just too cold to go out.

I had previously dined at this location with no issues.At this last visit, this is our opinion of the dishes we tried:1) Fish & chips - the fish inside was soggy and lacked taste and had an off-taste. Had to ask for vinegar and ended up tossing away more than half of the fish..2) Clam chowder bowl - lacked any clam flavor and I could not really find any clams.3) Fried oysters - these were as expected but I ended up removing the oysters from the fried batter and placed them inside the clam chowder bowl to add some flavor to it.It is unlikely that we will return to dine here.

Summary: It's ok, but it won't be my first choice if I come back here. Great staff though!Date of visit: 28Dec2024Food: We ordered lobster roll and fish and chips. Lobster Roll was good but not the best I've tried. For some reason the lobster taste was secondary to the dressing. The bread was good, it's like a giant Hawaiian roll but it was a bit greasy. I'd order it again, if there is no other lobster roll around when I crave for it. The fries that it came with are steak fries and are not good; I could taste the old oil and they were soggy. Fish and Chips I wouldn't order again because it had too much breading and was so greasy. It was also fishy? I know it's fish but it was fishy like it's old. The fries, same as described above. Service: Staff was great and friendly. Although I noticed gloves for some members were not utilized upon handling food. There was one who was weighing the pasta (for the linguine I guess), but on one hand he was wearing a glove but the other hand was not. Space: it's a bar seating, so it's limited, but this is located in the San Pedro Square, which means there are plenty of tables around. Bathroom: Shared with other vendors. Parking: Parking structure across the square and it's free for the first 90 minutes.

Had the fried calamari, crab garlic bread, fish & chips and clam chowder,Calamari was crispy on the outside with light batter and tender squid inside. Not gummy at all. Seasoned with salt.Clam chowder was pretty good. Little pieces of clams and big pieces of potato chunks in a creamy soup. Not too clammy. The Crab Garlic Bread was good too. Good amount of real crab on top of the cheesy garlic bread. Bread was crunchy toasted. Middle was soft bread. The Fish & Chips had 3 big pieces of flaky fish filets covered with golden brown batter fried crispy outside. Good portion. Battery was nicely seasoned. Fish tasted fresh.Waited 15 min for my food that I took to go. Nice staff. I like that the menu had a big selection from sandwiches to pasta.

This stand is located inside San Pedro Square Market. We ordered at the counter and received a buzzer. Bar seating next to the cashier or anywhere within the food hall was available. Once our buzzer rang, we picked up our order, ate, and bussed our dirty dishes and trash to bins.Our order:Clam Chowder (12 oz bowl): $9.00 +Good amount of clams+Complimentary bag of oyster crackers added crunch.-Very thickLinguine Frutti Di Mare: Market price ($25.00 during our visit)+Full of seafood that was large and tasted fresh (calamari, clams, mussels, and prawns)+Pasta was cooked al dente.+Came with 2 pieces of cheesy garlic toast-Homemade marinara sauce was a bit spicy towards the end.Lobster Roll: Market price ($28.00 during our visit)+Fries were thick, hot, and crispy+Roll was nicely toasted.-Lobster filling was salty, over-dressed, and seasoned with herbs that I wasn't a fan ofSide notes:1.) Salty clam chowder. I'm not sure why I keep getting it, but I won't again. You can add as much water as you like. It doesn't change a thing. Please check out the photo for proof!

Was in the mood to step out of my normal food comfort zone so I decided to give this place a shot and order something light. The ambiance of this place matched with the rest of San Pedro Market, with that sort of rustic feeling from the wood and the lighting, and a lot of the items on the menu looked tempting.We got the Carne Asada Fries to go and took them back home, which I think may have either been thirty minutes or an hour. The fries had gone a bit limp since then, but I imagine that they would be much stronger if I had eaten them fresh. The sauce, meat and little veggies over the fries gave it a strong, savory flavor, which the people I was eating with described as "too salty."Overall this was a pleasant experience, and I would be open to trying some of their other dishes in the future.

I got the standard fish and chips. The 2 pieces of fish are massive and they taste good too.

My significant other and I were scoping out places to eat at San Pedro Square after checking out a SJ Made event and she chose Anchors.I had some fries and they were great. Not greasy, crispy, and it hit the spot. You can see in the photo the amount of lobster is in the roll. It was pretty good though overall.If you like fried seafood, give Anchors a shot!
