This place is super popular, especially on weekends! I arrived around 12:50pm on a Saturday and waited in line for about 30-45 minutes to order. The drinks come out pretty fast but the food probably took another 30 minutes to come out. If you're sitting down, turnover is pretty quick; we were sitting for a while before our food came out. What we tried:- Wintermelon milk tea: 3/5, I couldn't tell if there was actual tea in this or if it was just straight milk. The wintermelon flavor is very subtle and it's not a lot of tea despite costing $7.- Fan tuan: 4.5/5, basically like a Chinese and sausage-shaped version of onigiri. The pork floss filling was crunchy and delicious.- Bacon egg and cheese egg sandwich: 4/5, very solid option for a breakfast sandwich.- Jiucai pancake egg sandwich: 5/5, the best thing I tried there. The fragrance of the chives and the crispiness of the scallion pancake go really well together.- Vanilla cream bun: 3.5/5, I really wanted a sweet cream bun but I think I should've gone with a mochi donut instead. The pastry was fine but a bit dry, and the custard cream inside was good but for some reason tasted a bit like some uncooked flour had gotten into it.

Heard about this place from the Bon Appetit video with Lucas Sin & Eric Sze and had to check it out! I was particularly intrigued by the concept which is a Taiwanese American breakfast fusion. Fusion food is hard to execute well, so I had high expectations for this place. And boy, did they deliver. We arrived on a cold rainy day and queued in a line outside the bakery. There were about 15-20 people in front of us but the line moved very quickly. Since the bakery seating area was completely filled, we were directed to wait outside near the takeout window and eat across the street in the dining hall space. Food and drinks took about 15-20 minutes to be made and we walked across the street to the much more quiet and spacious dining hall area. It was much easier to find a seat. Food wise...Milk bun 11/10: okay this SLAPPED so hard it was nostalgic partially because it reminded me of mornings when my parents would steam the frozen custard buns for breakfast but it was a better version of it with "breadier" bread. It had a generous amount of custard filling and it was delicious. Custard toast 6/10: would skip on ordering this again, wasn't anything special and the toast was crisped well but I didn't really get much of the custard component. Chocolate bolo bao 7/10: tasted more like a chocolate croissant than a bolo bao. Could've also used more chocolate filling, it was very subtle. Drinks wise...Black sesame latte (with oat milk) 10/10: tasted exactly like a tangyuan. Not too sweet, very creamy! Would order again. Five spice latte 7/10: overall good very subtle spice flavor, I wish there was a little more kick to it but also very good. Savory dishes wise...Snow pea salad: Okay this was the sleeper agent!! This was VERY good and addicting to eat. Refreshing and a great side to add to any savory dishes you decide to get. Scallion pancake with beef tongue pastrami 9/10: I usually don't like beef tongue but this blew me out of the water. The wrap dipped in the creamy yet gingery/vinegary sauce cut through the fattiness so well. Absolutely delicious, the scallion pancake a perfect vehicle as a breakfast wrap. Would've liked for the scallion pancake to be slightly crispier but overall very good. The BEC (bacon egg cheese) scallion pancake wrap 8/10; was pretty good but nothing to write home about.

I've been wanting to visit Win Son Bakery for so long to try that scallion pancake BEC! On a Saturday morning, there was a bit of a line outside of the bakery, but it moved relatively quickly. My group of three decided to order multiple things to share. The inside was also very crowded as we had the option to either take our order to go or dine-in. We shared the turnip cake, mochi donut, scallion pancake BEC, and egg tart. Although we initially ordered take out, we found some counter space that we squeezed into. The turnip cake was interesting and not like traditional turnip cakes I've had at dimsum, but I liked that it was fried! The mochi donut was ok and the scallion pancake was actually pretty large! The scallion pancake aspect didn't really have the taste or texture of a scallion pancake but the sandwich itself wasn't bad. I do wish it was more scallion-pancakey but it did seem Americanized. The egg tart was also only ok, as the crust was soft and not flaky and the custard didn't taste very authentic. Overall, I'm glad I tried Win Son Bakery but I'm not necessarily itching to return. Some of the food seemed Americanized and not authentic, but I did like the concepts!

We came to this bakery looking for some good eats. The bakery lies across the street from the main restaurant and has a limited menu. None of the teas are caffeine free.We ordered at the counter and the food came to the table. I ordered the scallion egg sandwich. The pancake was flavorful, the eggs were light and the cheese was delicious. I substituted the creamy dipping sauce for the table hot sauce which made the sandwich lighter. If I could eat here every day, I would.

This place was popping even in below freezing weather! They basically have two locations and even have a dedicated window for the take out orders. So I inherently have a negative bias towards places that try to reinvent something for the sake of making it their own. I love the idea of fan tuans with soy milk being the traditional taiwanese breakfast, but more importantly it was a breakfast item meant for the masses. It was cheap, easy to grab and go and enjoy on your way to work. While the flavors were very reminenscent, I cant get pass the high price point of the food items where I can get in Flushing or Chinatown for a fraction of the cost. The BEC milk bun really just reminded me of a McDonalds breakfast sandwich and their scallion pancakes weren't anything special. I guess the interior setting and service makes up for the inflated prices but from just the point of view of getting good food, there are other options.

Have had Win Son Bakery on my bucket list for a while and finally made it to NYC to give it a try, and gotta give the Scallion Pancake a 7/10. Had a delicious crunchy exterior, but was a bit too greasy for my liking. Came with what I think was a spicy mayo, which definitely a good sauce on the side:) The star of the show though, Mochi Donut! WOWWWW I've never had mochi before so no clue what to expect, but this donut was warm and pillowy in the inside and had a great crunch. Covered in cinnamon sugar what's not to love 100000/10!Stopped in around 2pm and location was full. Quick service with generous amount of seating inside. On a warmer day sitting outside would be perfect!

First off, enter knowing it's going to be BUSY - but the food is well worth! I got to try the pork fan tuan, chives scallion sandwich, bec scallion sandwich, red rice donut, turnip cake, and sweetened soy milk. Everything tastes authentic and delicious, but my favorites were probably the fan tuan with the delicious chili sauce, donut, and soy milk. The sandwiches were a bit too greasy and overpriced in my opinion.

I had very high expectations for this restaurant after all the hype it has received for YEARS. I really wanted to love it, but I found it underwhelming. First, the restaurant was loud and pretty crazy for a Saturday morning. So many people flying around (both staff and patrons). There really wasn't anyone to help outside of the cashier.Think we waited for like 45 minutes in line, then we waited for probably another 45 minutes for our food after ordering. We finished our coffees before getting our food and then if we wanted a refill, we would've had to wait in line againWe ordered the following:Fan Tuan: got it with pork. Probably the best thing we ordered. Great flavor and well balancedMortadella sando: way too much cheese. Like a gross amount. That paired with super greasy scallion pancake wraps, it just was unappetizing. Flavor was solid but the other elements were a big turn off. Don't recommend getting the spicy Mayo with thisBEC sando: same as above. Too much cheese, too greasy. The bacon and egg combo was better than egg and mortadella. Went well with the spicy Mayo. Fries: excellentCream bun: don't recommend. Flavorless calories. Red bean donut: ok. Would try something new in the future. Not too sweet. The dough in the donut was great.Cappuccino: goodIced coffee: ehIn short, if you need a hangover cure, this sandwich may do it for you, but wouldn't wait in the line for it under any circumstance and if your not hungover, probably really heavy for you.
