I have been to Tonchin LA, and now Tonchin NY. Tonchin NY has better ramen and noodles, and in terms of ambience, is cozier. Lots of seating, and nice waiters, vibe of a bar. Dim lights, and quite peaceful. Compared to LA, everything is better.Overall, Tonchin NY is one of the best Ramen and noodles places in NY.

I came by on a Very Cold Thursday night with two friends, perfect for a warm bowl of ramen. We had a res for 7pm and it was really packed when we got there; fortunately, we didn't have to wait to get seated, so definitely make a reservation in advance!I ordered the classic Tokyo tonkotsu ramen, which was really delicious. The broth was fragrant and rich without being too salty, and the noodles were cooked wonderfully (very authentically chewy). The slices of chashu were tender and savoury. The various other ingredients (bamboo, seaweed, etc.) all fit together really nicely for the overall dish.My friends both ordered the spicy tan tan ramen which was great too!For dessert we had the matcha kaki gori to share. Portion size was decent (I think a good amount to share for ~4 people). It was really sweet, and while I do like matcha, even for me it was a bit overpowering at times. Not sure I was a big fan of how sugary this was, but I think it was a nice contrast to the heavier/saltier broths from earlier. All in all, a very lovely meal and price point, while certainly on the higher side, wasn't too crazy. I haven't been to Tonchin for years (and only the Manhattan location before), so I'm glad it is just as tasty as I remember :)

Solid 4.5 star ramen placeCan't believe it took me so long to try Tonchin but glad I finally did in Brooklyn. Came as a group on a Thursday night and it was full. Glad we made a reservation in advance. Interior is clean minimalist interior with wood detailing and a cool paper chandelier. Restaurant is dimly lit. Host and servers were great. We ordered original dashi salad (yummy salad dressing), kyuri, grilled atsuage tofu (great texture and sauce), tebasaki (the group favorite), and gyoza (tasted great and loved that it came sizzling but do make sure to wait for it to cool before taking a bite!) to share. Each got our own ramens - I got the tonkotsu ramen. Broth was nice and rich and portion size was good. We all left content with full bellies. Would recommend!

Ambiance: (5/5) Nice decor and plenty of seating. Benches kinda small and just wood, not good or bad, just something I noticed. Price: (4/5) Prices seem average for the area.Food: (4/5) I really enjoyed the spicy ramen. It had a kick to it (nothing crazy, but notable because other ramen places say spicy and I feel like there is no spice at all). I liked the thinly sliced pork (as opposed to thick pork belly I see at other restaurants). We got extra noddles on the side and made it a great shareable dish. The gyoza came with a great spicy dipping sauce. I thought there could have been a couple more gyoza, but overall still a great experience.Service: (4.5/5) food came out quick and service is reallyyyy fast. Maybe a little too fast haha there were a few times I was still working on something or wanted to keep a small sauce plate on the table but it was taken away too quickly

I came here as a solo diner and was blown away! The restaurant was definitely getting busier as it was a weekend evening so there was a time limit to my seating, but the staff were super kind and the service was top notch. The ramen here was sooooo yummy! While this place is a bit pricey, it's definitely filling. I couldn't finish all of my food so I had to take it to go, which was unfortunate because I'd really love to try their dessert. One thing I loved is that they packaged my leftovers so nicely and gave me separate containers for my soup and noodles, which is such an overlooked gesture!Overall, this is someplace you'd go if you want to treat yourself but definitely worth the visit and the scrumptious food!

Craving some good ramen on a cold day - Tonchin is a must if you're looking for authentic ramen and solid flavors. It's a really cute spot, feels like I was transported to Japan. Service was also great - can't wait to go again!

My friends and I were craving ramen, and didn't realize there was a Tonchin in Williamsburg, but happily walked over and were seated right away. It's a warmly lit and inviting restaurant and the service was excellent. We each ordered the lunch set, which is a great value in my opinion. We got the dashi salads, which were quite large and delicious and another friend ordered the chashu, which they liked. We all ordered ramen as our mains; I ordered the miso ginger ramen which had a great broth and a little bit of a kick to it. My friends both ordered the tonkotsu ramen and they both enjoyed theirs as well. I would definitely come back here again!

Soooo yum. Walked in without a reservation on a Saturday night and got seated no problem. Loved the low lighting but liveliness of the atmosphere. Service was nice, quick, and attentive without being overwhelming. So many delicious options it was hard to choose from. The cocktails looked fantastic, but I opted for a non-alc beer.I chose the spicy tantan ramen with extra noodles, and loved it! This was one of the few ramens I've had where it's sufficiently spicy without having to ask for more spice. The broth was delicious and the noodles were cooked to perfection. The pork was okay, I'm not the biggest chashu fan (I prefer pork belly). Despite the bowl being large, I couldn't let any go to waste and ate the whole bowl :)

Ended up coming to this location since they have a lot more reservations than their Manhattan counterpart (especially on a weekday).Split an 8pc order of wings with my friend and also ordered the smoked dashi ramen. The wings were solid! They're dry rub and have a pretty unique flavor to it. I think it's a bit on the pricier side for what you get.As for the smoked dashi, I find it to be a very uniquely seafood forward ramen. If you've ever had dashi broth, this is basically a souped up version of that with clams. It's definitely not as common as their tonkatsu counterpart served across the states. I found the noodles nice and bouncy.Overall it was a solid bowl of ramen. I might pass on the wings though. Service was fine although it took a noticeably long time to get our ramen after we finished our wings. Was fine since I was mostly catching up with my friend. I think this places offers a solid bowl of ramen and is good for groups of 2-4 for a casual meal.

Street parking, but we had no issues finding a spot on a Thursday evening.Service is attentive. We had a reservation for the dining room, which was comfortably spaced. We came on the early side, but it was already starting to get crowded. There was a line by the time we left.It was Happy Hour when we arrived, so we decided to get a Half Dozen Oysters, which came with a yuzu vinaigrette. It was very fresh and great quality. The yuzu vinaigrette gave it a lovely citrus balance. The oysters are nicely separate from the shell, and if you prefer to eat it with a tiny fork, it's there too.The Original Tebasaki has a soy marinade and spicy seasoning on it. It is well balanced in flavor with the chicken. I love the spiciness on it, though I'm surprised they don't have a non spicy version with how tasty their chicken is! They brought out wet wipes with it, so get your hands dirty! The Tsukemen very flavorful, and not overly salty. Perfect whole wheat noodles to go with the heavier broth. It came with a lemon and sesame seeds that you can add to the broth to change the flavor, which made it lighter and toastier. The chasu was big and tender. I tried a sip of the broth of the Smoked Dashi, and if you enjoy that flavor, this is a must get! Comes with thin noodles and lots of clams!Momo drink was light and good accompaniment to the meal The Tokyo Banana had some lovely bananas and light cream. I loved the mix of textures.Everything was fresh and great in flavor. Worth the trek for me!
