This store has served its community for many years and it has updated and modernized to have everything you could ever need. From hot food to vegetables to cleaning supplies to cereal. They have got everything. Service is always lovely. If you want to get some takeout and eat it on the patio on the nicer weather month, you can do that too. It's really a great neighborhood grocery store and I can't recommend it enough.

This is my favorite neighborhood market in Nola. The prices are fair, especially in this age of inflated grocery bills. The selection is sensational for the square footage. And the prepared food is tasty. I have to come in and try those po boys at some point.

Ordered a catfish po-boy and fries with gravy and cheese, as well as snagged a half rack of ribs (weekend BBQ special). The po-boy size was larger than anticipated for the price point and was tasty as expected. Fries unfortunately was a big miss, as the fries weren't very cooked/ crispy before being topped with gravy and cheese. Ribs had good taste and texture; could use a little more sauce with it. I'd come back to try other po-boy sandwiches and give their Muffuletta when I visit NOLA next time. As another reviewer said, their prices aren't much higher than Rouses' Market, which was a pleasant surprise.

IN OVER 30 YEARS I'VE NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED1. Prepared Foods: perhaps the biggest selection in New Orleans. Some standouts:- the chicken salad is the best in the city and they can't keep it on the shelves.- they make my favorite coleslaw, lightly sweet and sour, with a bit of Creole mustard; great on sandwiches (see pic).- better cheddar is a little spicy - which I prefer.2. Employee retention: I'd say that at least 6 employees ( management, cashier, deli, etc.) have been with this small organization since I moved back uptown 10 years ago.

The first time we went to Zara's was back in 2013, when we were greenhorn visitors to New Orleans and looking for a grocery store to get some breakfast stuff. The second I set foot in Zara's, I knew it would become a long-term relationship. This is the antidote to grocery superstores. Many of the people at Zara's have worked there for years, and they have an encyclopedic knowledge of exactly where to find things. And the selections are superb, especially for people that like to cook. But if you're in a hurry and looking for some dash-and-dine, the crawfish Monica pasta is a little slice of heaven. Before heading back to Baton Rouge, my wife and I are in the habit of getting some of their crawfish Monica, because it warms the soul.

Let's be real this grocery story is insanely expensive for no reason. It's just sad to see local places follow the trends. There's no reason I can feed my family unless I drive all the way to Winn-Dixie.

Oyster Po Boy (dressed)- $21.99 oysters were fried well and the bread was fresh. Frankly, Id be happy with just the fried oysters- the rest if the sandwich was nothing specialHomemade potAto salad- by the pound from the deli. It was sweet and lacked flavor. It needed salt, pepper, celery, celery seed, and pickles.King Cake- they sell it by the slice back at the deli $1.99. Nice to have a slice versus having to buy an entire cake. They sell whole cakes by Hydell's and another brand but the slices were not Hydells. They sliced up some other brand of cake..The deli had a lot of tasty looking prepared food at great prices. I'll be back to try more.Great covered patio to enjoy your food.
