Yummy! Staying at the Southern Hotel in Covington is a treat. The staff recommended an upscale restaurant nearby but instead I chose this hole in the wall. I had wanted local flavor. I wasn't disappointed! A few members of the family say in back conversing quietly, and I ordered a shrimp po-boy and a cup of gumbo. Although the presentation wasn't eye-popping, what matters is the flavor, and I loved it and gobbled it up. Hit the spot and supercharged me for stroll around the quaint downtown of Covington, down to the Bogue Falaya Park and into the Trace, a beautifully converted 'rails to trails' walking path over a bridge to nearby communities. It proves that enjoying local flavor doesn't cost much and can be quite the delight.
