This place is a temple to the sandwich and I am a worshipper. Anything they do that is between bread is gonna be good. We showed up right at opening on Saturday and it was great. Maybe ten people in line before us. The wait was not bad. What exceeded my expectations was the cabbage salad. So many textures and flavors. Going to try to recreate the dressing soon. The collard green melt and the bologna are must orders. Great service. Love the vibes and kitsch.

Taste: 3.5Creativity/Authenticity: 3.5Atmosphere: 4Service: 5Bang for your buck: 4I don't know if I should be offended that something I ate as a poor kid is selling for $15 at a busy trendy sandwich spot in NOLA! Heard a buzz about this spot, and I was in town for the Super Bowl so had to see what all the buzz was about! Got the fried bologna sandwich with fries. First love that they serve the fries with mayo, very southern. Now the sandwich itself was delicious, not the poor sandwich I grew up with, triple the size, shredded lettuce and a sweet sauce. The fries were bomb! Love the mayo. Overall decent sandwich, but i liked the fries better than the sandwich!? I'll have to try the collard greens melt next time! Thanks for the sandwich

A stay in the Garden District also provided the opportunity to try out the great sandwiches at Turkey and the Wolf. We popped in at 11 on a Monday and there already was a bit of a line, however, despite the place being small and just opening, the staff worked through the line and the takeout orders pretty damn quickly, so do not be deterred, traveler. I can confirm that Turkey and the Wolf is really everything that you heard it was. A quirky, small, local, and fun sandwich shop nestled in the Garden District that like many of the bars and diners of old, is smothered in decor and tchotchkes from a bygone era (for TatW, its the 90's). Of course, I was greeted with the quandary of what to order as the small menu does pack a punch as all the options seem great, so I went with the staff's recommendation and opted for the fried bologna and The Wife ordered the mama tried burger. These are some damned amazing sandwiches and they live up to the hype, period. You're not going to find a more unique and indulgent sandwich than the fried bologna that has thin cut bologna, smothered in lettuce, mayo, cheese, and frickin' potato chips. It was as delicious as it was decadent. No regrets. The Wife's mama tried burger was also damned good and its one of the few burgers we've had where, despite having all sorts of nice sauces and toppings shoved together under a burger bun, it also stayed together. A work of artery clogging art.We really enjoyed our visit to the Garden District and we will make Turkey and the Wolf a regular stop for our future visits as we want to experience more of what these mad-scientist-sandwich-makers concoct.

The collard green melt is my favorite sando of all time. Amazing it does not have meat. Flavour, texture and inventiveness all score 10's. The cabbage salad is always a winner (the little cracklings in it are addictive. For the first time I got the hogs head taco and it was absolutely delicious. Pair these with a frozen margarita and life is happy. Oh, if the line is long, you can order a frozen margarita to make the wait more palatable.

Collard Green Melt. Do it. This is a casual eatery where you walk up to the counter, order your food, get a funny animal rather than a table number and your food comes to you as it's ready. I wanted everything that was available to me as a vegetarian. I ordered deviled eggs, fries for the table, the collard green melt, the in-cog-meato buffalo chik'n sandwich, and a Jack Daniels hot toddy (some of this was offered as a special that day). Everything was yummy but the collard green melt was the star to me. Tangy, a bit of spicy, creamy, and yummy. The fries were also good. My friends loved the bologna sandwich and fried pot pie. The deviled eggs were cool and the buffalo chik'n sandwich was cool but I wouldn't necessarily go back for those. The hot toddy was perfect for the 40 degree weather. Service was great and the place was clean. Thank you!

Turkey and wolf doesn't need my review but here it is anyway. The collard green melt is as banging as they say. I am ashamed to say I ate the whole gluttonous thing in one sitting. Will be back with friends

Hot toddy on a colder winter day was fantastic and the vibe here is ttly chillGet here when they open or you'll be in line out the door and then eating outside because the very small inside space will fill up (and if you're at one of those tables inside, you'll feel everyone's eyes piercing your soul, willing you to finish and leave )Not a vegetarians paradise so I ordered the collard green melt which was very good and worth every dollar ($12) and fries ($5) which were just average (nothing from Hereford is ever average so when it is, you're like ???)I spend an ungodly amount of money at Molly's Rise & Shine (also Hereford, not far from here) and there's nothing that would bring me back here before I'd go to Molly's but nice to try this out

Really long line at lunch time and a bit out of the way from other sites in the garden district but food was worth it. Wait in line to order then seat yourself at an open table.
