The Gloriette

As recent guests at The Southern Hotel in Covington, LA we visited the lounge. We were a part of one of the three events being celebrated at the hotel that Saturday evening. The place was packed, to say the least. Melissa Thrash, bartender, and Christopher Walker, manager, made my husband and I feel like we were the only customers. They showed genuine interest in our travels and they were always patient when talking with us. They also shared information on drinks to try. We were at the lounge for several hours and the fantastic customer service did not lessen. Go visit Melissa and Chris. I am positive you will have a similar experience.

I was really looking forward to dining at The Gloriette, but my experience was beyond disappointing. I ordered a ribeye steak, only to be served what was very clearly a sirloin--a completely different cut of meat. When we brought this to the server's attention, they informed the chef, but he never even bothered to come out and address the situation. That level of disregard for customers is unacceptable, especially at a place that presents itself as a high-end dining establishment.Mistakes happen, but how a restaurant handles them speaks volumes. Instead of making things right, they just expected us to accept it. A steakhouse that doesn't know (or care) about the difference between a sirloin and a ribeye? That's a hard pass for me.Save your money and go somewhere that values quality and customer service.Or server was good and I felt sorry for her.

Service was excellent food delicious and atmosphere wonderfully charming. Old southern charm.

If you want to go somewhere for cute pictures, this place is a MUST! The decor and walls are adorable. We went on a Sunday morning and it wasn't that busy. We got bottomless mimosas and our waiter was pretty good at keeping us refilled. Would not recommend the Caesar salad. The "croutons" were soggy, the gumbo and the brisket were delicious.

My wife and I had an excellent anniversary dinner tonight at The Gloriette in the Southern Hotel in Covington. Lovely understated southern charm and relaxed upscale ambiance, and fine service, with excellent food and cocktails. I had the salmon and my mate had a shrimp pasta dish. Both were excellent as were my Caesar and her beet salads. We shared a dark chocolate torte with cappuccino gelato for dessert. It was all quite enjoyable. The Gloriette is highly recommended and is perhaps the top of the dining mark in Covington.

I was staying at the Southern Hotel and had breakfast here at The Gloriette. I ordered the smoked salmon avocado toast....,AMAZING!!

One of the nicest waitresses you ever want to meet-through and through. Ambiance is pretty but also pretty boring. All of that said, the food was downright gross. We sent our food back and so did the table next to us. With Del Porto across the street there is no way this place makes it. Terrible. Time to open something new.

Go for the food & ambience! Service is always the only thing a little off for us. The gorgeous view helps.

Love going to the Gloriette just a beautiful cozy, lovely atmosphere and the food is very delicious. The service are very pleasant and very professional. I really enjoyed my night out there. It was wonderful.

Loved everything about this place! Only thing i could suggest is the biscuit is a little dry, but everything was so good!!!!
