Wonderful experience. My brother-in-law has taken many cooking classes and he said this was the best he's ever taken. Spuddy is knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining. Great hands on experience. I highly recommend him and his class.

Great interior looks and is located near to Oak alley plantation so we went to try local cuisine. Lady server was super sweet. Although they were short dishes availability. No menu as such was offered. She came and told us the short list and we chose the lunch menu. Surprised that it was just under $10. Damn economical and food was average. Felt like homely food. Coleslaw was like salad. Sausage was too good. So much of meaty taste in food. Nice place to experience local cuisine.

We arrived mid-afternoon and they were ready to close. The lady who was there couldn't have been more accommodating. She explained they had three meals and we were lucky in that one of them was gumbo. We had been lucky enough to have had our first true gumbo made by some native Louisiana friends of ours so we knew what to look for. Spuddys was dead on. They had told us the consistency and color to watch for and I have to say Spuddys gumbo was nearly as good as our friends.I'm not sure their hours or menu, but our meal was wonderful and our server -im assuming the owner or manager- was delightful. It was a wonderful experience.

Went in here after being badly mistreated by waitress at B&C up the road (please don't go there), it was the end of lunchtime and we were in a rush. They just had gumbo and that was what we wanted. Delicious! Very nice people. Do yourself a favor and drive HERE just 5 minutes away from B&C on the main road, but a world away in terms of service and good gumbo!

This restaurant was on the way to a plantation tour, so my dad and I decided to stop in for lunch. The restaurant is pretty basic: you come in and seat yourself and wait for a waitress. Even though there was no one here on the day we were here, it took forever for us to get waited on. I got an order of white meat fried chicken and a side of onion rings. The fried chicken was great! Nice and crispy, juicy and lots of it. The onion rings were really good as well and hit the spot. My only complaint was that the onion rings were $3 extra and the waitress made no mention of that when she was listing off the things I could get as a side. I didn't say anything, because I was in a hurry, but it's something to be aware of.All in all, this is a nice enough "no frills" lunch place. It's probably not worth a trip out of your way, but it's fine if you're in the area.

We were running late so we stopped by to get lunch before the Laura Plantation tour. The girls got gumbo and the guys got the ribs with beans, slaw, and rice. It was pretty good as well.

LOVED IT! My beautiful girlfriend and I were on our way to Oak Alley and after getting a speeding ticket, we had to stop to grab something for lunch. Saw Spuddy's as we pulled into town and looked like the perfect local joint to try. Walked in and everyone greeted us at the door... super friendly. We quickly got our menu and drinks... she ordered the Crawfish Stew Dinner and I ordered the Chicken and Sausage gumbo. WOW. The homemade andouille was so good, I had to buy to links on my way out to bring back to Oklahoma. Service was A+++, food was A+++. Certainly will stop here again on our next trip!

We were on our way to Oak Alley when we saw this restaurant. Great fried chicken! They also sell andouille sausage which is delicious. Made in house. Don't let the rating steer you away. The ladies that work here are lovely and provide a great local atmosphere.

SAUSAGE. Really good housemade sausage. I mean REALLY good. I'm not a huge fan of sausage, and Spuddys' had me stealing from other people's plates! I was seriously wondering how I could "smuggle" a few pounds back to California in my suitcase ... without getting the drug-sniffing dogs all riled up!Vegetarians stay clear. Everything they served with the sausage was good, too -- I seem to recall red beans & rice and chicken and coleslaw -- but it's really all about the sausage. Basic soda-fountain beverages. Kitchy, fun, LOCAL decor. They're clearly supporters of the local football team. Service was friendly, but a bit slow. But they treated us (even as clear tourists) very well. This is THE lunch spot in the area -- there is not a plethora of dining options here out in the Louisiana plantation country -- but it deserves to be.
