Roman's Cafe

This is hands down the best Greek restaurant in the Baton Rouge area. I got the pick two meat platter and it was outstanding. They served us some warm pita with oil. I can never eat anywhere else now. This place is near lots of shopping and right off the interstate. They have remodeled and it's clean and spacious inside.

I ordered 100 grapeleaves to be picked up Easter Saturday for Sunday. They looked beautiful. But when you bit into them, there was so much red pepper or chili powder that 33 of us could not eat them. We ended up throwing 170.00 worth of food away. My kibbee was the same way. Couldn't eat that either. The seasoning also effected my 88 year old mother. She had a bad reaction to the seasoning.When I called the Manager, he was rude. Kept saying yeah, yeah yeah. Wouldn't let me get a word in edge wise. I ended up hanging up.My parents are 1st generation Lebanese & Syrian. We know our grapeleaves. This was terrible. Never again.

I have discovered the best Mediterranean food in the Baton Rouge area.If you happen to live or work in BR you are lucky to have several very good Med restaurants to choose from. I thought I had found the best until a co-worker recommended this Roman's location.We usually hit up Roman's for lunch. If you need good food, good service, and to get in and out quickly, this should be on your list. Saying the food is good is a bit of an understatement though. It is legit great.My go-to is the combo gyro shawarma plate. It comes with rice, hummus, and a salad. I ditch the rice for extra hummus and they do that for no charge. The gyro is great but the shawarma is by far the best I have ever had. It is tender and juicy and as flavor-packed as any other food I have ever tried. I do not know how they do it, but it is impressive.My combo plate and water were around $16 before tip. While that isn't a cheap lunch it is about average for BR lunch places. I strongly recommend you add this to your list.

Oh man this is tough! I'm such a Serops loyalist but trying Romans for the first rime really shook me. Now I don't know which one is better! They're neck and neck. Roman's meat was soooo tender and well seasoned! I got delivery because they had an awesome deal on an app. The pitas were kinda crunchy which was weird? But I liked the seasoning it had on top. Will be back!

We stopped in for some Greek food when we realized our refrigerator was empty after returning from vacation. We had never been here and it was pretty close to our house so we thought we would try it out. It is hidden in a strip mall next to Smoothie King. First impression was a little under whelming. The place is small with only 10 tables and a small bar. But the smells coming from the kitchen were devine!!!We asked about some wine. The server recomend a Greek red, which I got and loved. BF got one one of the two white wines they had and he didn't care much for it. We started with an order of fried cheese. I ordered the meat moussaka with baba and hummus. BF got the gyro plate. The cheese came out pretty quickly. It was crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside and sitting in a creamy garlic sauce. Each dinner came with a greek salad, which was fresh and not too heavy on the greek dressing. The dinner plates arrived with some hot herb covered fresh pitas. Not sure they were house made, but they were so soft and light. The hummus and baba were very tasty and went well with the herbed pitas. The moussaka as soooooo good. Seasoned beef with eggplant and bechamel. Yum! They are uber eats, so we can get our greek fix if we are too lazy to get in the car and drive next time.

Wife snd I had dinner at Roman's. Had not eaten here in months, but wanted to eat a good Gyro in pita sandwich. The Gyro was okay, not great. It came with a salad and hummus. The salad had one slice of tomato on it. I ended ip mot eating the salad because they added mint to it! Our waiter was terrible. Was not service with a smile. No greeting a barely said a word. Wife asked about the menu while think of what to order snd he suddenly left. Eventually came back and took our order. Later brought 2 pitas. They used to pour some of the olive oil and vinegar (?) in a dish along with some seasoning. After he took our order I also ordered the Mediterranean Hummus. He brought that with no additional pita to dip in it. Wife had the Moussaka which she did not enjoy. After bringing the food he never came back to see if we needed anything else like a refill. When we had finished eating he finally came back and brought me a refill. This will be my last time eating there due to poor service.

Best Greek in Baton Rouge. Everything is so fresh and their pita is so soft and homemade.

The food is excellent. One particular employee has been so rude on multiple occasions that I can't see myself supporting the business any longer. We get take out from the Old Hammond location at least once weekly and recently the man behind the counter has been off putting. He ignores customers standing in front of him, very passive aggressive and genuinely seems to hate his job. I will try the Bluebonnet location and hope we don't see him there.

WATCH THESE PEOPLE. I was placing a to-go order for someone . The person wanted six vegetarian grape leaves . Six grape leaves equals one order . I had ordered some other stuff so I thought it was just the extra boxes all their little stuff comes in. No! This woman gave me six orders of vegetarian grape leaves . Six orders ! Never did the word orders come out of my mouth . Yes, I should have checked the bags but she had them double knotted and I was in a hurry . 92 freaking dollars . Y'all better watch these people , she clearly had no idea what I was talking about . I'm not familiar with their pricing and I thought it was high but it's high because she gave me six orders . Now I'm the bad guy . Never ever ever again romans!

Hands down the best hummus in the city!Their food is really delicious. And they put pine nuts in their Lebanese lemonade!! Yum!
