Riverside Specialty Meats & Seafood

Riverside has the best chicken cracklin' you can find. They have a great selection of fresh and frozen meats along what sides to choose from. Their boudin has great flavor as does all of the items I've gotten from there. People rave over Billy's or Don's but have this great establishment much closer than running across the Basin.

I heard they had good crawfish so I stopped by to try them. They have great meat selections. I got 5 lbs of crawfish and they lacked taste and had very little spice to them. I will be back for the meats but not for the crawfish.

Great place in Plaquemine for some fried foods or snacks - but there are also plenty of take home and cook items too! My faves (hot food) - Chicken cracklin (essentially fried chicken nuggets and skin), pork rinds, boudin wraps with pepperjack, fried fish plate, boiled crawish+crabsMy faves to take home and cook - jalapeno cane sausage, pepperjack chicken sausage, stuffed catfish filets, spinach stuffed chicken breasts, peeled and deveined shrimpSkip - the salad, this is not the place for salads! Blackened shrimp were cooked well but it's just a basic salad. They have ~$10 daily lunch specials which are usually a very large serving that you can make into two meals. Check facebook or their website for the special of the day. Riverside also has catering which is awesome - you can get all sorts of trays or have them cater your entire event. Great people to work with.

The seafood combo(fish & shrimp) plate is delicious! The chicken and pork cracklins are delicious and seasoned perfectly. You can't beat the drive up window to pick up your order. We also get take home to cook fish and shrimp and are always happy with the quality! The staff is always nice and welcoming.

Please allow me to offer a piece of advise. Go to McDonald's and get 2 regular hamburgers for 2 dollars. They will be much better than this place, and a lot cheaper too. I paid 14 dollars for a fish and shrimp basket. In a word, HORRIBLE! The fish was cold and tasteless. The fries were so cold and hard they were uneatable. And the fried shrimp must have been warmed over from the previous day. Will never go back. Steve G.

We stopped in there to pick up lunch to go and it was a such disappointment. Chicken fried streak was the daily special and since it is one of my favorites I was excited to try it out. What a DISAPPOINTMENT. The red flag should have been numerous to go boxes on the counter already fixed. So two were grabbed. COLD, the boxes weren't even set under a heat lamp. I didn't say anything hoping they had just been made and put there. WRONG they were probably there an hour or more. The meat was set on top of boxed mashed potatoes and if there were maybe 2 teaspoons of gravy on top I'm being generous. The gravy was so cold it was congealed. The vegetable was corn from a can, not heated or seasoned just spooned out of a can and a cold roll. Really? We had gotten it to go and were down the road about 5 minutes before I saw the pitiful lunch we had paid for. Normally we would have taken it back but we're on a deadline and didn't have the time to try to fix what should have right in the first place. So back in the bag it went until we could get to a garbage can. I asked my husband did he want to save it and try to heat it later and his reply was "No, can't do much with boxed potatoes, can corn, no gravy and I hate to even think of what the meat might be lol". With that I threw it in the garbage after removing the bread so at least the birds got something to eat out of the almost $20.00 we spent. There are plenty if good places to eat in Plaquemine, just stay away from Riverside.

Threes best sausage ever! The cane sausage is amazing. Going to try the jalapeno pineapple chicken, it sounds great!

We stopped in to get some pepper jack sausage. We left with pepper jack sausage, cane sausage stuffed in jalapeños then wrapped in bacon, sausage stuffed pork chops and jalapeño stuffed sausage!! Oh my goodness EVERYTHING was delicious. I almost forgot, we picked up some brisket burgers and ribeye burgers that were out of this world! We take our cooler, load it with delicious fresh meats then enjoy at home. We freeze the meats when we get home, there is always something amazing in the freezer for dinner!! I shipped some frozen jalapeño sausage to California & Oregon everyone enjoyed a taste our Louisiana goodies!!

The cane sausage is great. I had my sister bring me 15 pounds to Tennessee! Wish we could have it all the time.

Clean place, service was good but could have been better. Boudin was greasy but the flavor was good. Cracklings were good. They also have fresh meat and the steaks were lean and thick. Worth a try.
