Great New Orleans memorabilia on all the walls.
Great old-fashioned New Orleans doorway.
There are fancier, more impressive-looking restaurants on this stretch of Saint Charles Avenue, but this place has the best food.
Inside. I got there early before it started filling up.

Absolutely disgusting food. - biscuits were oddly dry and lacked flavor - omelettes were overcooked and had pretty much no cheese - breakfast potatoes were okay- I doctored them up with hot sauce and salsa but you can do that with just about any type of food. - the place needs a huge face lift and touch up on decor etc. The plus- the service was good. Our server was very sweet and friendly & the food was super affordable. I personally would never go back- especially when there's so many other great places to go and eat.

Unfortunately this place did not do it for me. My expectation of New Orleans food is pretty high so I wasn't impressed at all. It is your typical diner food but nothing extra about it. I ordered the catfish and grits with bacon and eggs. I was highly disappointed in the catfish. The batter was not good at all. The bacon was ok . The best thing I had was the toast. If you're looking for a basic breakfast then it may be worth checking out.

Always wanted to try it and finally did. Our server was cute as a button and did us well. Everything tasted great and prices were very fair! Give it a try!

Go to Please-U!!! I was visiting NO and staying in the Lower Garden District and found this no-frills diner that perfectly personifies New Orleans. I ordered a "half" Shrimp Po' Boy and a cup of seafood gumbo. Very generous portions. The Po Boy was packed with fried shrimp, the bread slathered with mayo and had lettuce, tomato and pickles. The shrimp to bread (partially hollowed out) ratio was perfect and the shrimp perfectly fried and not greasy. The gumbo was traditional and flavorful. My waitress was great and the woman owner was very nice. Great spot.

The Please U restaurant is an old-school diner that simply focuses on feeding locals hassle free breakfast and lunch. This is not fine dining. The service is not excellent and you seat yourself and even pay at the counter when you leave. But if you want a decent breakfast or lunch and do not want to deal with the ever present overpriced tourist traps this is where you go.

Cloe was our server, she's super nice and helpful. We had onions and liver, steaks and eggs. Everything was good and on point.

A typical diner, which makes it great. I don't normally order scrambled eggs, they were extra fluffy and delicious. The food has its diner grease taste--not a bad thing, I like it. The pork chop was cooked well. Everything came out spectacular, hot, and they had a new cook starting. Only thing I would change here is sharper knives. Service was personable. Coffee was refilled. It's an old diner vibe inside. Hits all the marks of a staple diner. Great to dine alone or with 2-4 people.

We were super unimpressed. We were looking for a low-key, diner style breakfast. Please-U just didn't do it. The staff was surly and unresponsive and the food was over priced and, honestly, not very good. It's not that hard to do bacon, eggs and toast. You mostly just need to care. That feeling wasn't there. There are dozens of great breakfast spots in NOLA. We will going to a different one next time.

I'll be honest, my medium-rare steak was overcooked and somehow dry, although still pink in the center. My husband's French toast was made with wheat bread, which was unexpected and definitely not the preference. It made the toast fall flat, though he said it was still tasty and made well. Just wished it wasn't wheat. It's typical diner food. Nothing fancy, but solid. Maybe we didn't love-love our dishes that day, but it wasn't all bad. I enjoyed the seafood gumbo and mashed potatoes, and I loved the gravy. We had a wonderful experience overall. Service was excellent from the moment we walked in. Everyone we spoke to was warm and gracious. Our server was wonderful! We loved their homemade salad dressings, so she made a way for us to buy some to take home. We could easily be regulars here!

Chicken and waffles! Now that I have your attention... If you are as serious about this dish as I am, yet health aware enough not to eat it often, then choose wisely. Hands-down, this is the absolute best, anywhere. And I've had plenty. This little breakfast/lunch hole in the wall Greek restaurant on St. Charles Av. has been our go to for 10 years. When we come, it's gonna be chicken and waffles. If you happen to come back the next day, go with the Greek omelette. All fresh made from scratch by the Greek couple, and owners, for 43 years! The portions and quality are a deal at $14 (so tip well!). And they certainly live up to the name Please-U-Restaurant.
