They claim to have 'Crazy Crispy Chicken & Champagne' and they are right!!! When the owners of Commander's Palace opens a sister restaurant, you're usually in for something good. I do love some fried chicken and I would consider the fast food standard bearer to be Popeyes; just so you have an idea of where I am coming from. So, at Picnic you can get the traditional home style fried chicken; OR you can ask for the chicken marinated in crawfish boil; you northerners would call it crab boil. WHAT!?! Did you just say crawfish boiled fried chicken? You have my attention! Proceed....It appears boneless chicken thigh is the piece of choice at Picnic...we ordered 5 thighs (2 home style and 3 crawfish boiled) and let me tell you neither of them disappointed. The home style chicken crust was noticeably different than the crawfished boiled chicken. ( I wish I would have taken pictures; but I was just too damned excited) The skin on a couple of pieces; when freshly hot, almost slid right off, something all chicken fryers battle with, but it didn't take away, one bit, from the presentation and certainly not the flavor explosion that is this fried chicken. It's a must try should you be up near Audubon Park. It's a very tastefully decorated as you'd expect from these owners. It's formal, yet oddly casual. I think they got the perfect mix. Service was extremely friendly and efficient.

Great little spot! Offers limited alcohol selections, snacks and desserts. The chicken sandwich was delicious- fried crispy and served on a brioche bun - the potato salad is also good. The fried chicken salad was excellent. I would definitely come back.

I came here after a long time and I thought their biscuits were pretty good and it's interesting how they have a crawfish spice on their side. In the past, I also had one of their chicken sandwiches which was really good and I think a pro at making fried chicken!

I ate a decent but unremarkable fried chicken sammy at PP&W not long ago. The service and ambiance, with friendly employees behind the counters and guest musicians playing outside, were the highlights. Those almost nudged me to a fourth star... but there are too many better chicken spots around town that set that cluckin' bar high. The sides were solid though.

We loved the decour and the atmosphere. It was like being in your favorite culinary genius aunt's cozy kitchen. It was also the best fried chicken I've had in my life. Basically ruined fried chicken forever. When I go back to NY I'm really going to miss this place. The staff was also very friendly and the happy hour specials were great. Please come here if you're ever in New Orleans. It's a revelation.

If you are walking down Magazine and want a quick bite in a cute place, this is it! I checked them out yesterday for the first time for their $10 chicken and champagne happy hour. The chicken was flavorful (they use thigh meat) and it came with mayo and a crystal sauce type of topping on the side. It's a bit spicy if you like that!

Stopped in here while visiting a friend in New Orleans. The casual but fresh decor has a great vibe and we were served very promptly here. The fingerling potatoes were okay, tender fried but a bit salty for my taste. The smash burger was more to my liking, a double patty with bread and butter pickles (yes!) and the typical condiments. Nice little cafe atmosphere worth the visit. Recommended.

This cute little corner restaurant is an absolute gem! On Wednesdays, they have live music! The picnic area outside is so cute, pet friendly and child! You grab a menu off the wall and order your food! They give you a number for your table and bring it out to you! The food is fresh and cooked to order! My fiancé got the boiled chicken sandwich. He said it was fantastic! I ordered the chicken thigh plate with 2 thighs! I got an extra one as it is only 2 or 5 and I knew I couldn't finish 5! I should have just stuck with my 2 because the thighs were huge! We also got the crispy potatoes with miso, lemon mayo! It just tasted like mayo to us! I would have liked a little more miso! We also ordered a Bloody Mary and he got an old fashioned!

my new favorite happy hour! such a great deal for a basket of fried chicken and fries and a split of champagne for only $10! they also do a super cute promotion for a free old fashioned or paradise park while it's raining. the service was great and the restaurant is so adorable! the chicken comes with crystal hot sauce pulp which is so unique and the green salad has a delicious asian vinaigrette. they also have everything you need to take your picnic outside with picnic basket rentals!
