Happening place. This place is on everyone's list for good reason as it's always consistent and good. My wife likes the shrimp poboy and they load you up on shrimp. I am still looking for my go to sammich but everything I have tried has been good from the James brown to the shrimp, roast beef and the surf and turf. If they have oysters get that but it's not always available. Get your food dressed and we always ask for extra mayo there as they tend to be a little light with as much shrimp as you get.

This is an absolute MUST try when you are in the New Orleans area. I'm sad I just now found it but will be returning no questions asked for the future visits!Such a cute local gem with an old school flare to it. Tons of Knick knacks and random decor and old photos that I absolutely loved. Gives each room such character. There's an indoor seating area, a separate bar area, and a covered patio outdoor seating area. Service was great, walked in on a Thursday night and was in and out within 30 minutes. A customer leaving told us we had to get the oyster po boy so you know that's what I did! When I say it was delectable, that is an understatement. Equipped with all the necessities - mayo tomatoes lettuce etc and of course the French bread, man this was delicious. The jambalaya side was the best jambalaya I've had in New Orleans let alone in the US. I ate every last bit of the sandwich and side and have dreamt of this place ever since.

My spouse vouched for this restaurant and I had never been so we decided to try it as we waited for the parade. We ordered the surf and turf, a catfish poboy, and a glass bottled Coke. The wait in line to place an order was about 30 minutes. After we ordered, we waited about 10 minutes. Since they have expanded, there are many places to sit. We sat inside. Bread was fresh! But I do not know if my food really lived up to the expectations; we are so blessed with great restaurants here where I do not have to wait as long for a po-boy. That is all that I am saying....

Everyone was saying that this was the place to go for poboys in NOLA but I was a little underwhelmed. I ordered the shrimp poor boy and I tried out the bar b q beef, jambalaya, and my friend's bread pudding. While it was tasty, I feel like it was lacking more flavor and both the beef and chicken in the jambalaya seemed a little overcooked. The bread pudding was decent but not as melt in your mouth as I'd like.

I ordered a large JAMES BROWN "POOR BOY" from here, and the flavor was incredible. I'm not usually a fan of BBQ sauce as it can sometimes be overly sweet, but this one was perfectly balanced - not too sweet at all. My only issue was that we took our po'boys to the park, and it was super messy to eat! If you're doing the same, definitely bring extra napkins and/or wet wipes for cleanup. The pickup process was a breeze, and I highly recommend to do this since the lines can get pretty long here. I'm definitely coming back to try more items - this place is a winner!

Okkkkkk We were starving I'm being a little dramatic but after some shopping and the rain we definitely needed food. This spot popped up as being nearby and at first I wasn't thinking about getting a sammich And yes I'm calling this a sammich because when you take that first bite you know it's better than any sandwich you've ever had The bread is soft and warm The melty provolone cheese The gravy OMG!!!! The GravyI didn't even know that was a thing Gravy on a sammich This is a what big backs are made for The meat was super tender and packed with flavor You can tell they do a really good job marinating the meat You guys I was digging in before I realized I had not taken a pic or video so don't judge me too muchNot to mention the portions are HUGEI also got rum cake and if you look closely you can see the the moistness of the cake shimmer in the video Who needs a cocktail when you have a rum cake

If you're visiting New Orleans, there's one spot that you must experience at least once: Parkway Bakery & Tavern. Known for serving up some of the city's best po'boys, Parkway is a legendary local favorite that everyone raves about. My party of three made our way there for a Saturday lunch, arriving just after 11 a.m., and the place was packed. By the time we arrived, the line to order stretched out the door and into the courtyard.Parkway offers online advanced ordering, which I highly recommend utilizing for convenience, but if you prefer to order in person, their system is fairly streamlined. We still waited about 15-20 minutes to get to the counter, and the wait for food was another 15 minutes or so. While the wait might feel long, it's partly because you'll need some time to find an open table. There's no waitstaff here, so seating is first come, first served. By the time we got our food around noon, the line was wrapped all the way around the block, so if you can, try to visit during off-peak hours. When it came time to eat, we went for a mix of the more popular options: the Parkway Surf and Turf Po'Boy (a combo of fried shrimp and roast beef with gravy), the Louisiana Catfish Po'Boy (fully dressed with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and remoulade), and a classic Reuben on rye. The catfish and Reuben were both fantastic--flavorful, satisfying, and a perfect showcase of what Parkway does best. The catfish was crispy, fresh, and perfectly paired with the tangy remoulade, while the Reuben had all the right balance of savory and tangy with its layers of corned beef, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese. However, the Surf and Turf Po'Boy didn't quite hit the mark. This is more of a design flaw than anything else--while the sandwich has all the right elements, the gravy ended up overpowering the delicate fried shrimp and roast beef. The gravy made the sandwich messy and added a heaviness that drowned out the other flavors. The roast beef got lost in the mix, and the fried shrimp, which should have been the star, were overshadowed by the sogginess from the gravy. It's a messy, albeit flavorful, sandwich that ultimately wasn't as enjoyable as the simpler po'boys we tried.Overall, we had a great experience at Parkway. The atmosphere is casual and bustling, with a true New Orleans charm. While the Surf and Turf Po'Boy didn't quite live up to expectations, we'll definitely be back to try more of their classic offerings, especially the catfish and Reuben. A word of advice--be prepared to wait, especially if you visit during peak hours, and plan your visit for a quieter time if you want to avoid the rush. Parkway Bakery & Tavern is a must-try for anyone visiting New Orleans, offering an authentic taste of po'boy heaven that's worth the wait!

After traveling through about 10 hours of traffic from houston to New Orleans, we finally made it to Parkway to enjoy their fried shrimp poboys. That wasn't the reason for our trip to this great city but a great opportunity while we were in town. The restaurant had great service despite the limited menus due to the winter storm. The vibes are super laid back and inviting. Lots of people were at the bar chit chatting with the bar backs. That's how you know it's a popular spot for the locals. We Weill be back.
