I can count on one hand the number of reviews I have done. Admittedly, I should do more. Especially regarding an amazing establishment and more importantly, an amazing owner. I placed an order about 10:20pm via GrubHub. After receiving a notification via GrubHub that my order was being made and in process, I was happy I would be having a po' boy and fries in 30 minutes. Well....20-30 minutes go by and I get an update saying my order is delayed 15 minutes. Ok...thats fine. Still satisfied that with my limited options this late in this night that I will be getting food.10 minutes later, I get a text saying my order has been canceled. Frustration ensues... I debate. Just let it go? Or call the restaurant directly. I call the restaurant. A pleasant gentleman answers. I explain my order and cancellation notice. He says my first name without prompting and explains that Grub Hub did not assign a driver and he cancelled the order. Before my objection, however, he asks where I am and clarifies that I am at a very near hotel. He, the owner, confirms my location and room number and says he can make my order in 5 minutes and deliver within 15. I was elated.I go downstairs to the hotel lobby to wait and within less than 15 minutes he arrives with a bag of hot food that I ordered. This is customer service of perfection. When he arrives I pulled out cash for a tip and he refused to accept it and apologized for Grub Hub screwing things up before I could even have cash to give him. The food....it was great. The bread of the po'boy was crispy on the outside and chewy inside. Fresh shrimp was flavorful and lightly breaded. The cheese fries are indeed world famous. This wasn't just a "food was great" review. But the above and beyond service was as good as the food. If you have read this review this far, just order food from Parkside Tavern. Please. You will not regret it.

Well, I gotta imagine that this place was the bomb back in the 80s. The décor, imagine a kinda groovy ski lodge looking place. A long narrow, two floored club with wall to wall carpeting. A lot like the old Don Carter's bowling lanes had. Kinda puffy looking in there with a disco kinda vibe. Now fast forward to 2013... musty flattened carpets. Most light fixtures no longer work and ceiling tiles and other tapestries and missing, sagging or piled up in the corner like an old barber shop. The bar and bartender are much the same way. Nice person, fast and friendly but it just feels off in there. Like a alternate reality thing happened in here. They are known for the food, but mostly the main thing they can do well is cheese fries. That is why we had stumbled in there that night. Cheese fries and just change of scenery. Things were going really well till one of our female friends noticed a Algiers sized flying type cockroach running along the floor and another coming from the cooking station. Check please!I do suggest check it out and see if you can see how this place was probably , well I do know for a fact it was the bomb in the late 80s, but saddened that it isn't anymore.

This is a quaint neighborhood bar that has been in business for many years. As for food service, they serve some very good PoBoys are are quite famous for their cheese fries. The prices are very reasonable. The only reason for the three stars is that the review is pertaining to a Restaurant. Also as with most New Orleans neighborhood establishments the people and patrons are very welcoming.

So far the best PoBoy I've had in New Orleans. Tasty well seasoned fried shrimp, great bread, perfect dressing. The layout and ordering technique was slightly awkward, but not everything can be cookie cutter. Have yet to try anything else, but the gf loved hers and I guess Obama went there, so it has to be good, right?

They have a short menu but the poboys are great! They will fix you a 1/2 & 1/2 of any two items on the menu i.e. shrimp & fish. The decor is ancient but I'm there for the food. One of the best secrets on the Westbank.... I eat there at least once a week....

Picked up a to go order from Parkside last night. We used to live in Terrytown 20 years ago and decided to check it out to see if the food was still good. Parkside is a Terrytown staple. It's a bar (long bar) with TVs, and a pool table. I called in an order for a cheeseburger on French, dressed and a large order of fries. The person taking the order was friendly and efficient. Said it would be ready in 10 minutes and it was. The food was as good as I remembered. The French bread must be Leidenheimer's. It's the best. Parkside is smoky and it's decor leaves something to be desired. Mostly frequented by friendly locals who have been going to Parkside forever. However, if you want a great cheeseburger on French and super French fries, give it a try!
