Nonna's Cafe

Oh happy day! We made it back to Nonna's Cafe in Amite, LA. The boys said they wished they could have this kind of cooking in the school cafeteria. Our 11 yo was so enthusiastic he bought a shirt. On today's buffet, all made from scratch: baked and fried chicken, turkey necks, cornbread dressing, lasagna, chicken and dumplings (like our grandmother would make!), red beans and rice, corn, okra, collard greens, candied yams, blackberry cobbler.

Well we are back after the pandemic. Stilll amazing the smothered pork chops were so good. The Salisbury steak and gravy was great. The veg was terrific. We had greens, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes. Red beans. Lima beans. We had a fresh apple pie. Wow. A bread pudding. We loved it.

This is literally the best soul food we have had since moving to Louisiana. Everyone there were extremely nice and friendly, it was like eating at my grandmother's house!! My new favorite Louisiana restaurant!

Dis dat slap ya momma good. If ya visit or near here please see ya folks it's worth it. 5 star food and service..

Everything here is homemade and trust me when I tell you, the love is palatable! Best place to get a variety of southern veggies and entrees in Amite City. Local proprietor who treats everyone like family. Not only are you greeted with a big smile but you may even get a hug or two . Reasonably priced in a comfortable setting. You can get the buffet options take-out for $7 or dine-in for $10. Today I had meatloaf, okra, cabbage, greens, sweet potatoes, and cornbread. I nearly licked the plate clean. I'll be back...again..and again..and again.

Ordered to go 30mins before closing knowing that the fried chicken wouldn't be fresh out the fryer and ordered it anyway. Candied yams, and greens to go along with the Chicken. Home Cooked,Great Tasting Food! Great People that run it!

The chicken and dumplings were the best I've ever ate. I will be coming back and recommending to my friends, family, and co- workers that they eat here.

Buffet is absolutely wonderful . Everything was delicious the roast Brel melts in you mouth the candies yams were so good I had two serving and the shrimp stew was to die for! We be back the next time I travel this way again.
