Matherne's Supermarket At Riverlands

I had their Mac and cheese at a catered event. I don't like Mac and cheese. Well I LOVE it now! My goodness it is Devine. I hope I can buy it by the quart. I have heard all their food is good. The catered food never disappoints. If you are having a function consider them. They deliver which is a plus.

Very fresh ingredients. The sushi chef can make anything you like. My roll had crabmeat, avocado, jalapeño, and crawfish tails.

I bit into a pitted olive in my deli salad on 8/5 and it cracked a wisdom tooth. I had to go to oral surgeon to remove the 2 wisdom teeth. I called Scott, the manager, and he told me I would have to prove it was his olives that broke my teeth. Really? He said he'd talk to his insurance but knew for sure they would say no to any claim. Seems to me they should back up what they sell.

Matherne's is a smallish mid- size grocery store. The story is fairly clean, relatively new, and normally well-stocked. They have a variety of options but they are pricey. This is not always a bad thing; I don't mind paying a bit more for fresh ingredients. However, as you can see in the picture they often have moldy produce. I do not use the term "often" loosely. Once out of every three times I go into the store, there is something green or white growing on some type of slow moving produce. A few times I have picked up gallons of expired milk or other dairy product. This is annoying and inconvenient considering I do not have unlimited time and I would like to think I could count on a grocer with prices this high to maintain quality standards. When I say pricey, I mean the whole big organic foods grocery store pricey. King cakes run more than $20.00 and they aren't exceptionally fresh or tasty. They have a great selection of alcohol, but even the clearance prices are more than other place's full price. There are the ever present teenage cashiers, lazily scanning and pausing to text with you standing right in front of them. The teenagers huff when you don't know the price of something you want to buy, like produce, and if they can't find the price, they ask, "Do you still want this?" if you say, "yes" you can see them whip out their phone to leave you standing at the register while they trudge and trek the 30 feet to the produce department. They seem to allow pets in the store, (I HATE THIS) because I see people pushing them around in the carts. The store is never super crowded so it is a good choice for a quick stop in, however for a whole cart load, it just isn't worth it.

Great place to get home cooking style plate lunches or catering for your office events. Food is always fresh and tasty

Wow! Great local Laplace grocer. Very similar to Rouses. The deli makes party sandwiches within hour. The ready made food section had great food. Fried chicken, potatoes, fried catfish was all good.

Matherne's is my go to for things locally when I cannot get to Kenner or Metairie for shopping. I love the fact that they are the only grocery store in LaPlace that carries Evamore water which is the only water I drink. I love the chicken salad which tops others by leaps and bounds. It's a smaller family feel which is good when you are sick of shopping at the more commercialized grocery stores.

I love the wide selection of wine and alchhol. Now they have a sushi bar which is always fresh and not to pricy

Excellent grocery store,great customer service. Tremendous selection of brands. Great layout of the floor plan. I would recommend this store to everyone in the Laplace area.

I was wondering why Matherns Miracle Whip was 10 dollars Thursday?I looked at other stores and their prices were normal 4 or 5 dollars for larger jars. I know eggs have been higher ,but that is crazy . You need to watch your prices because you have alot of competition. I love your store but I was so shocked at your mayo prices compared to other stores.
