We had forgotten about this restaurant. We went in for lunch and we were not disappointed. We went right at noon and it was not crazy busy for which we were happy. We started with the onion rings. They were homemade and plentiful and delicious. We split a bowl of gumbo and, while it was not the best i had ever had, it was great. I ordered the fried oyster and remoulade salad and my husband ordered the chicken parmesan with pasta. Both were amazing. The oysters on my salad were crispy and large and the dressing highlighted the oysters so well. His chicken parmesan was one of the best i have ever tried. We will definitely be going back very soon.

So, I have been craving red beans and rice with sausage and a little French bread. I looked and looked and finally landed at Liuzza's. An Italian establishment that has been around since 1946. Mr. Garland the bartender/host/excellent people skill young man took all my cravings away when he placed those red beans in front of me. That was it, I entered into a time zone. I managed to scarfed half my plate but that was it. Everything freshly made and just good ole New Orleans flavor I remember from when I was a young one. Hence comes this little slice of the Big Easy's past where nostalgia relics the once upon a time in New Orleans. Even the music is reminiscent of happier festive times. Thank you Luizza's for a little of my past taste still alive and well..Remember to support your local eateries so we both don't starve...

Liuzza's is sooo good! I loved sitting outside and trying the frozen beer in a mug. They have a lot of options for any mood -- Italian, sandwiches, pizza, salads, etc. Will be back!

This was my second time dining in here. Both times, the food was soo good. I did sit outside under the lights this time and that was so lovely! Only had a few little hiccups with the waiter BUT it was busy & the effort was there -- and that's all I can ask for. I do want to come back and try the bushwhacker before it's gone. Get any iced beverage it comes in a frozen beer glass! (even root beer!)

5 stars based solely on the Seafood Napoleon and the Red Beans/rice- I'd come back for these two dishes every single timeAlso, table service inside dining area is stellar!Bar is best for beers only- loved that we could get an N/A beer in a frozen goblet because it really elevates the experienceCocktails aren't their thing but just go with the flow- to be fair, they're very upfront that you should order a beerThis place should be tried by everyone looking for the Nola feels

I had heard about Liuzza's from several locals plus seen it on #TrueSouth so I had to give it a try and I am glad I did. First of all the ambience is unbelievable, I sat out on the patio with a cool breeze blowing and amazing music playing in the background. The service was impeccable and to top it off, the food was better than advertised!!! it was hard to make up my mind, but I decided on the legendary Frenchuletta with the housemade all olive salad and you talk about scrumptious! OMG! If you find yourself wandering around mid city, and you hear your stomach, grumbling, make a trip down Bienville St and you will thank me later! I definitely will be back!

What happened to Liuzza's - no longer the local great eats place. Loud, nasty people at bar with inappropriate language. Food was REALLY POOR which I thought had been rectified since the sale. Tasteless with bag salad. Spinach Lougia with pasta was awful, spaghetti with a handful of spinach leaves on top - where's the garlic & olive oil? Could the waitstaff be any more inadequate, loud putting up dirty plates, bringing food out when neither appetizer nor salad is finished. As a local - we won't be back. Go to Katie's around the corner.

Liuzza's was the first restaurant we tried in Mid City. Our nephews ordered the Gumbo, my husband got the pizza, and I got the eggplant casserole with garlic bread. We all felt that the gumbo was the best choice for the price. You got a big bowl for about $15 and they said it was the best gumbo they had in New Orleans.

I have no idea what happened to this place. It was once a favorite of mine when I lived in town. I recently visited and the beloved Frenchuleta sandwich was awful. Tough meat, low rent bread, very little olive salad, none of that warm goodness. I don't mean to be rude but I'd rather eat at a gas station sub shop. I also bought a jar of red gravy to take home and it was tasteless. Of course the place was the same fun bar feel it's been since the war years, but I don't know what to do about the food.

I love New Orleans. Especially when you have a local as a guide. You get to go to places off the beaten path. This is a locals restaurant that has great food and service. The restaurant is typical of New Orleans style local restaurants and has an air of neighborhood friendliness to it. My wife had the fried green tomato BLT and I had the oyster Po'boy and a cup of gumbo. Perfect portions and great meal means we will be coming back again.
