The hype is so real! I love when old school meets new people. Lil Dizzy's spin on old school classics is immeasurably awesome. Smothered pork chops, good grief I haven't had those in years. Forget the diet and waistline, At this point, you are knee deep in dirty rice, mac and cheese, so much gravy! Don't worry about it! Hans down southern to the core with a beat down of Cajun! The owners are hands on, loving on every meal and serving up true authentic family experience. My favorite was the smothered pork chops and chicken! You must comeEarly or face the wrath of their popularity. They close at 3:00pmSo hurry up!

Lil Dizzy's Café is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy classic New Orleans cuisine in a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere. When you arrive, you'll find street parking nearby, though be prepared for a bit of a crowd inside! Once inside, you'll wait in line, where the staff will hand you a menu and take your order either in line or at the counter. We ordered the gumbo, dirty rice, and fried chicken, along with a strawberry lemonade on the side. The gumbo was packed with both meat and seafood and had a nice kick to it--definitely on the spicier side. The dirty rice was also delicious, well-seasoned but not overly spicy. As for the fried chicken, it was juicy, well-fried, and definitely not dry.Overall, everything we tried was great, and I'd definitely come back. I especially want to visit on a Thursday to try the smothered okra, which I've heard great things about. If you're in New Orleans and craving classic Cajun food, Lil Dizzy's is absolutely worth stopping by!

This is a hidden and hopping gem In the middle of a residential area in NOLA. It was recommended by someone local so we went during our travels. We were greeted promptly by a server who told us they were full and she would come grab us as soon as the line went down. You order at the counter, take a number, get seated at your table and they bring you your food. They have daily specials and a regular menu. I ordered off of the regular menu. I enjoyed my catfish, greens and potato salad. My whole group couldn't stop raving about their entrees. We were so hungry and caught up in conversation when they brought us our food, I forgot to take photos! I guess that means I need to make it back to New Orleans for that crab cake I saw on the menu!

The Mrs. and I had lunch yesterday at Li"l Dizzy's Cafe. I wasn't familiar with Li'l Dizzy's. I just remember driving by it a few times being that it is only a few blocks from the Airbnb we were staying at. Dizzy's sits on the corner of Esplanade and N. Robertson. We arrived shortly before noon and managed to grab a small table outside. If the weather is nice, like it was yesterday, I suggest you do the same. The Mrs. went inside to grab a menu. A staff member inside told her to place our order at the counter when we were ready. The Mrs. ordered the two pieces of fried chicken with a side of fries. The chicken was great and the fries were cooked nice and crispy. NOLA, how come you do fried chicken so much better than anyplace else in the world? I ordered the gumbo which was really good. It was packed with lots of shrimp and andouille sausage. I added some Crystal to give it a little heat. I also ordered a side of Dirty Rice which is one of my favorite comfort foods. It was beautiful. The food is served in takeout containers so it is easy to transport your leftovers.....if you have any. By the time we left around 12:40 there was a line out the door. Li'l Dizzy's is only open for lunch. I believe they close at 3.

This is the perfect lunch restaurant in the Treme neighborhood. There was a long line when we went, but the staff moved the line along efficiently. Once we got our food, I could see why the line was so long. The food was very delicious! I would definitely return.

THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN EVER!! Their 2 piece is so affordable, juicy, and perfectly crispy. When biting into the chicken, you have to account for the juice. I had no idea how they get it that juicy. Their sides were also humongous, and my boyfriend got the catfish jourdain. I couldn't taste the lemony sauce but the catfish was soft and also perfectly crispy. I also had the best Mac and cheese of my life here. It was creamy with the perfect amount of cheesy crust. The service is also very welcoming. The staff greet you downstairs and lead you to your table upstairs. This was my favorite food spot in NOLA and I'd 100% recommend to any one visiting.

I had 3 different people recommend this restaurant so it was a must to visit. Word of mouth is strong and the food had to be the truth because I arrived 30 minutes or so after it opened on a Monday morning and there was already a line. Men in line with their suitcases before they flew out; tourists mixed with locals. It's a small building with limited seating but this place was running like a well oiled machine. Service was amazing, food properly priced, but the food again was the star.I had the fried chicken with the red beans and rice. Juicy chicken fried just right but the red beans and rice . I've been ruined and can't have them anywhere else now without comparing to these. I'm sad that I didn't have room for the gumbo but there is always next time.

As my friends and family will tell you I am the worst person to please when it comes to food and especially Gumbo. But today at my request, two of my friends and I went to Li'l Dizzy's Cafe on Esplanade Ave, in New Orleans. The food, the service just everything was perfect. The gumbo brought tears to my eyes because it reminded me of the gumbo my dad used to make. Everything was delicious and the restaurant itself was clean even the bathrooms. We ate Gumbo, Crab Cakes, grilled shrimp, dirty rice, mac and cheese and green beans. we really wanted to try the bread pudding but couldn't move. I brought home some Gumbo and the leftovers to my husband and he said everything was great and may I say he is not a fan of cream sauces but he loved the sauce on top the crab cakes. Would definitely recommend going there. WE WILL BE BACK!!!
