Legacy Kitchen’s Tacklebox

This was recommended by an Uber driver, saying she had a great time celebrating her birthday that she and her fam came back a second time the same week. That sold Hubbers, so he took it upon himself to decide this is where next dinner is. It was only a few minutes' walk from our hotel, so it was pretty convenient. I wasn't really hungry since I had a snack a couple of hours prior, but I thought the Grand Tower was a good idea to share with my party of 4. Paired that with a Bloody Mary. It is plenty for a starter. 6 fresh shucked oysters, 6 charbroiled oysters, 6 shrimp cocktail, smoked salmon dip and crawfish remoulade. It's practically a meal for two! The oysters were fantastic, but I think my favorite here are the dip and remoulade. Loved the smoked aroma from the salmon and the crawfish tails on the remoulade. Don't get me wrong: the oysters were great as well as the shrimp (bigger than normal) but the salmon dip did it for me! My party ordered their own dishes, but I was set with sharing the tower. And to finish it off: an order of beignets to cleanse the palate. Someone in my party said they liked it better than Cafe du Monde's version! FOOD: 4. SERVICE: 4. Our server, Tiana was attentive in a non-stalkerish way. VALUE: 4. More than fair! PARKING: Street only as far as I know. I didn't see any lots nearby. OVERALL: 4. Gotta give credit to Hubbers for the good call. Would recommend!

This place seems to be hit and miss on food and service. Had exceptional service Sat morning with amazing beignet bites and scrumptious breakfast sandwich. The female server was attentive and helpful. A great experience. So we went back Sun morning and order beignets and gravy - yuck... chewy beignets clearly just heated up. So different from the fantastic mini ones we received the day before. Service was slow and inattentive, exact opposite of our prior experience. So a solid three stars.... might be fantastic, might be awful.

I've only been once, so maybe this is not a fair review. But after the one trip, I've no interest in going back. And I do work right across the street.I had a craving for a good burger, so I ordered their "Southern Burger" without the pimento.First, I start at the walk-in. I was not immediately greeted by anyone, though it was lunch time. It didn't take long for someone to notice me, in passing, and I did get a table pretty quickly, but it was just odd that the place seemed "unmanned".Okay, so back to the burger: This was not a cheap burger, but it was about as average a burger as you can find. For a place with white linen tablecloths, I thought I'd maybe get a nice, gourmet-ish burger. Nope, just a gourmet-ish price.But it was okay, and the service was fine. When the server brought me my check, it was detailed, and appeared to be wrong. When I asked about it, he realized he gave me someone else's check, and brought me another that was simply a total amount, and more than the previous one, thought I guessed it would be cheaper. He gave some explanation (but not a detailed check), and I just paid it and chalked this up to the cost of trying a new place to eat. I've definitely had worse. But as I said, I have no desire to go back. My thinking is if they're going to use cheap quality beef for their burger, then I shouldn't expect any of the other ingredients to be fresh or good either.

As a tourist, I like this restaurant!I picked this restaurant cuz I lived in renaissance hotel. This place is pretty popular for local peopleI had a chance to try their charbroiled oyster! Omg it is so goooooodAlso I love their recommendation of daily catch gulf fish! So goodAs a tourist, I had a chance to try their local dishes, they are good and within reasonable price! It is a great place to dine at! Not that touristy, and waiter's recommendation is great!

Not good. Ordered their charbroiled oysters. Horrible. Server was not responsive. Was not impressed by anything.

Decided to stop in and try last week while on a hut for some food that is in walking distance to my house. I met the sweetest hostess, Renita. She gave me a few recommendations on the menu. I ordered the shrimp and grits which was okay. I also had a drink, Rosie's Cosmopolitan which was very good. I probably wouldn't go here for food again but drinks + service was A1. Ambiance was nice and chill. This restaurant is actually connected to a hotel.

lol - they offer a trio sampler, but one of the three things was not available. I tried to crab & corn bisque. Usually when I order soup in a restaurant, it's served lukewarm. This was just the way I like it - piping hot!!' Quite yummy. The smoked salmon dip was good too served with great crackers.

A few strangers I met while on my trip mentioned Tacklebox to me, and I decided to slide on in and give them a go. Listen here, best decision to end my night. Eve provided me and my new friends with 5-star service. She's great at her job, very kind and attentive. She made great suggestions with the menu. She customized our drinks based on what we typically would drink. Girlfriend knows her way around the bar, trust!!! She's so amazing! I will be back for sure she gave me excellent NOLA customer service. The restaurant was empty but still a steady crowd flowing in. I sat at the bar and was able to see all the action outside. It was nice to witness a NOLA wedding parade right outside the window. Now, let's talk about the food because I know that's what you came here for... I ordered the southern Georgia chicken sandwich with fries.... Babay, it did what it was supposed to do. So juicy and full of flavor that were well balanced out. The sauce on the chicken had the perfect amount of heat and sweetness. The bread was buttery and soft. Honestly, there was nothing special about the slaw on top, but it worked altogether. I would highly recommend this dish, but next time I visit, I hope I'm bold enough to try the oysters. They looked so mouthwatering. The liquor in my system almost gave me liquid courage. I grabbed some beignets to go. I did the original flavor and the cinnamon sugar. Sorry ya'll, by the time I remembered to snap a picture I only had 3 left out of the 2 bags.... I'll leave it there cause I already feel guilty for my gluttonous behavior

The food was excellent. We had oysters, shrimp and grits, and beignet bites. Our service was not very good. It took a long time to get our wine and the waitress spilled water all around my friend. She didn't even acknowledge that it was almost spilled in our laps much less dry up the table. One of our party got up to go to the restroom and his chair was taken to another table by the staff. No one asked if we were still using it. We were. We had paid the bill but Some of us were still finishing our wine.It was a busy night so maybe that was the issue.

Had the steak and brussel sprouts at the bar. Food was delicious, cocktails were on point and service was excellent. Delightful meal while staying at the Renaissance!
