I am currently finishing up a three day visit to a conference in New Orleans and can say only good things about Joel Brown and his wife and their Kosher Cajun New York, deli and restaurant. Hit them up directly from the airport for great chopped liver platter and a hot pastrami sandwich on rye. Fast service, and comparable or better to what one could get in New York, Miami, Baltimore and you can't get food like that in Atlanta at a sit down place. I needed 3 days of meals and so I left the kosher Cajun equipped with Sunday night dinner which was grilled chicken salad and it was excellent. Also some Biegel's rugalach. The next morning Joel delivered fresh food to the hotel, which consisted of an excellent tuna salad sandwich (which I had to assemble from bread and tunafish, lettuce and tomato to ensure it's freshness and not it being a soggy mess) To a container of delicious turkey and sausage jambalaya for dinner. This morning's delivery consisted of a imitation shrimp Poboy sandwich as well as this evening roast beef and turkey on rye. In addition, he supplied my boss with pastrami sandwiches for his trip back to Atlanta. The epic climax of my experience with the kosher Cajun came this evening when my non-Jewish boss decided to wine and dine our non-Jewish clients In a decidedly non-kosher steakhouse here in New Orleans. After a good deal of last minute finagling and arrangements with the restaurant, they reached out to the kosher Cajun to request a sealed and certified kosher steak dinner, which I could enjoy at the same table as my non-Jewish colleagues The meal was delivered well in advance of our arrival time, and the kitchen staff followed the reheating directions exactly. The result was an excellent salad with a roll (so I could break bread with my non-Jewish colleagues) prime rib steak, accompanied by potatoes and green beans , I will say without reservation the quality of this meal, taste, presentation on China with silverware and overall experience was nothing less than excellent, and certainly on par if not better than the non-kosher offerings my colleagues were eating! The restaurant was equally as impressed, especially after I conveyed my thoughts about the excellent nature of this meal, and its overall experience. The kosher Cajun is clearly an almost undiscovered treasure in the US kosher community. I would highly recommend that if you are going to be in the New Orleans area that you find them, sample their fantastic menu offerings, and then resolve to do I did, which is to basically remain Fleishig for every dinner during the week and at least 2 lunches. You will not go hungry and you will not be sorry!

Maybe we were there on an off day, but our sandwiches were not good. Mine was dry and the fried fish sandwich was an old frozen fish patty. Their shrimp po boy is made out of kosher fake shrimp substitute, which they are very upfront about, and which makes a ton of sense. The grocery store part of the deli however is huge and really cool, with tons of kosher selection. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. I would return for the groceries but not for the food.

About 15 minutes outside of downtown New Orleans you will find the Kosher Cajun NY Deli. If you've been to an authentic NY Deli you will feel right at home with the traditional deli sandwiches, but they also have a kosher take in classic New Orleans favorites. The kosher shrimp po'boy is made of fish not shrimp. So it's really a fish po'boy but still delicious. The hot pastrami though was on point. I regretted not getting a sandwich to go for my ride home. I loved my experience and the staff were incredibly friendly and they were quick with filling kitchen orders and cashing out grocery purchases. Will make this a regular stop on my trips to New Orleans.

The food, sweets, and service are good here, but be warned the sandwiches are small for the price. I came here in a pinch. I assumed a $13 sandwich would be about 10" with trimmings. It's just regular bread and there's no pickle on the side. It's about 6" and pretty thin. However, the ingredients are good. The apps are good, especially the latkes, but they are also a little pricey for what you get. Overall, I only recommend eating here if you eat kosher and want specific foods or have more expendable income than me because the price is high.

Ordered via Uber Eats for lunch one day and absolutely loved the opportunity to taste some authentic Cajun cooking in NOLA despite kosher dietary restrictions. The jambalaya was incredible - so flavorful, so delicious - and my only regret was choosing the small rather than the large. If I was here longer I know I'd be back over and over again! Excellent place!!

Yeah!! Real NYC bagels! Staff was very friendly and helpful and even willing to educate me on some Jewish traditions. I am excited to go back when I am back in New Orleans and it is no longer Passover to try some things from the kitchen.

My friend showed me this place and it is a very quaint spot with lots of Jewish foods and desserts. The staff there is extremely friendly and you can tell there is a lot of authenticity to the place. I've tried the knishes and the sandwiches which were both great. The J&N is my personal favorite. The sandwiches were comparable to steins deli, so if you are craving something similar to that but in Metairie this is a great spot. Overall, the place really embraces its culture in a special way that makes it feel very homey! Would recommend to try a sandwich or some harder to find cultural foods!

We called on a friday afternoon to make a delivery order, as this is one of the only kosher places in NOLA. We ordered about 8 meals and on the phone we asked for enough plates and utensils for 10 people. On the phone when we kept asking how much the total would be, they kept evading the answer and told us they would call us back to confirm the final price. They never ended up calling to let us know and they delivered the food about 2 hours later to our hotel. We were extremely shocked to find out that they had charged $15 for the plates and utensils! Usually these are included in delivery orders for free and it was very deceptive of them to not mention that price. Also keep in mind there is a $25 delivery charge and they are not on any food delivery services. When we called the restaurant they were extremely defensive, rude and unapologetic. They kept saying the plates charge was on the menu but i am attaching the menu we ordered from, it did NOT say anything about this charge. They then hung up on me. Despicable customer service.

Definitely nothing like the true NY experience, odd that it's got that in the title. This place is hit-or-miss at best. Prices are high on everything (not atypical for imported goods, of which they have a relatively decent selection). But charging full-price+ for stripped-down pre-Pesach sandwiches on what I'm pretty sure was Pepperidge Farms rye and no pickle? Meshugana. Might return for holiday shopping. But then again checkout clerks are usually unfriendly bordering on rude and half of what I bought today is made in China anyway so I'm thinking probably Amazon first.

As a born and raised New Yorker, I can tell you that this is not like a NY Deli. If you are going to charge prices close to NY prices, then you should serve your food the same way! The food I got was so dry and crumbled apart while eating it. If you are going to represent NY, then do it right!!!
