I grew up in Mandeville but moved out of the area 20 years ago. I tried the "famous" king cakes and always found them dry - basically sugar and icing on stale bread. I didn't like king cake until my mom found King Kake King when I was in high school. In NYC, I worked with two people from the New Orleans area - one always sent a cake to the office that everyone found dry. I only know this because everyone told me how much they loved the King Kake King shipment my parents sent. This was 2003 and 19 years later I always order cakes from them. My coworkers in NYC, LA, and San Francisco have all tried and loved King Kake King. Now my 6-year-old is sharing the King Kake King with her class. Try it - you will not be disappointed!

I was surprised at how good this king cake was. My first touch of the cake made me wonder if it would be dry and without any filliing (I like cream cheese filling), but I served a piece and really liked it. It is denser than king cakes made by that famous Italian family from Chalmette. The cake has a nice flavor and the blueberry and cream filling was perfect.
