Honestly I didn't eat the okra as it looked very un appealing. It was very slimy and the okra was hard. The fried pork chop didn't have a lot of flavor but it was ok, the cornbread was dry. Because I was disappointed with my food a coworker let me try her greens and they were good.

If you're looking for a home-cooked meal, this is the restaurant for you. There are specials on different days so I would recommend calling to get the special of the day before going. Once you hear the special of the day, then you'll be able to decide what you want before going. Reason: I wouldn't want you to have a taste for something in particular and they not have it when you go there. There are 3 to 5 different specials each day, but on top of that, there are other food options that you can choose from, such as seafood plates and poboys. You can also create a plate. Example: You can get fried chicken, fries, and a salad. If you're a sweet tea lover like me, their sweet tea is a must! I give their sweet tea 10 stars!This is a very casual restaurant. You can order your food to go or you can dine in. I'm always on the go so I only get my food to go. The customer service is great! They're never rude, always friendly and polite. ****This is a cash-only restaurant**** and they are closed on Sundays and Mondays.

This is going to be a strange review, but this is how it went down. I fell asleep in the early afternoon and woke up to find myself starving and everyone else had already eaten. In desperation, I open YELP and start to browse. I really wasn't feeling like anything I usually eat. I wanted something I've never tried or at least a place I've never been to before. I was wanting something home food style if that makes sense. Something like my Mom would cook. I came across Hursts while I was scrolling. It was late in the evening. I'd looked at them before and they fit the bill for sure. I called 15 minutes before they were closing. The lady that answered the phone was really nice. She just sounds like a nice, caring person. She was out of the two choices I'd made from the daily specials. She said she had red beans and smothered ribs. I wanted Lima and bbq ribs, so I thought!Given the Covid world we live in now as well as the late hour , my order was to go. This lady took time ( even though they were just about to close) to seperate everything in the to go box with wax paper so it wasn't a giant mess. The red beans were awesome. I'm so glad she was out of bbq because the smothered ribs with gravy was the star of the show. She gave me extra rice , some for the beans and some for the gravy. It came with a salad with shredded lettuce. I like that. A big fat piece of fresh cornbread topped the plate she had to keep shut with a toothpick in the tab. I've only eaten the one plate but if they make beans and ribs this good, I don't see how they make anything bad. I'd really like to show you the food but like I said , I WAS HUNGRY!!!I stopped and got something to drink at a gas station on my way home and ate the entire plate in my truck. I will be back to eat some more of this food. and update. Their prices are VERY reasonable for what you get!!!!!!You can drive right by this place on Airline Hwy, I did!!

This place is a gem! We stopped for lunch after driving around the area seeing if we could find a pick up truck. We are k side the restaurant. The service was great the food was probably the hottest I have ever had. Right off the grill!i highly recommend if you want some great soul food!

Service suck! The lady that checked me out was HORRIBLE. She was very rude and had a nasty attitude. The rice was mushy rice and stuck together. But everything was ok. I will not be back as long as that lady is at the register.

Some good home cooking when I don't feel like cooking my favorite is on Thursdays when they have the smothered turkey wings so tender and delicious

The best soul food I've ever had!! So worth coming to this place, such a golden find The hospitality here is a homie vibe, everyone is so nice and loving!I will definitely be finding my way back to this place (:
