Gus's is a divey type of diner and I've come to appreciate that some of the best food and service are often found at such places. This is the only place I've ever seen a breakfast BLT so I ordered that, of course. Simple enough-fried egg, bacon, lettuce and tomato nestled between buttered toast. So good! It came with a side of pickles which was kind of random since I didn't use them on the sandwich itself but I love pickles so I did appreciate them and enjoyed them after my sandwich. If you happen to find yourself in Folsom go check Gus's out. You won't be sorry.

The food is less than good. Seems like everything is frozen then fried. The chicken fried steak was from a bag, mashed potatoes had no taste at all, the coleslaw is awful and so dry. Husband got the fried fish...two little pieces and some nasty french fries. We spent of $30 on a meal that was really, really bad. We will not be back

They only accept cash or check with no sign posted outside or inside of the restaurant. The lady at the counter waited until after I had ordered everything to tell me this facet. I don't consider the cash or check a deal breaker, I just think it should be known/advertised with a sign either outside before you walk in or at minimum somewhere inside of the restaurant. Food was mediocre.

Thoroughly underwhelming. First, the cashier was completely indifferent, then acted annoyed when I didn't realize that it was cash only. Tried to order biscuits and gravy, but they were out of gravy. Not sure how that's possible since I saw that they had milk, sausage, flower, salt, and pepper.Ordered a western omelet instead with grits and a biscuit. Call me crazy, but I'm used to ingredients in an omelet being diced. I didn't enjoy trying to cut up bacon, bell peppers an onions with a butter knife. Grits were ok, but not good enough to make up for the cold biscuit that they gave me. The coffee was also pretty good if you don't mind paying for refills. Also, they didn't bring the water that I ordered at the counter. My wife said her pancakes were pretty good but didn't eat the hair that came on the plate (odd garnish if you ask me).

I came into Gus's after a quick drive up and down Main Street revealed this was the only open option at 7am on Saturday. After looking over the menu I opted for the spinach feta omelet, subbing tomatoes for the diced sausage bacon or ham. After only 5-10 minute wait, the waitress/cashier brought my plate along with a *side* of tomatoes, apologizing that they weren't IN the omelet. I said I'd take it like that, reluctantly. Well, the grits were fine, but the omelet was not. Actually tasted fishy (?), and the spinach was not fresh, and tasted like it never was! I tried two bites and pushed it away. That isn't like me. The coffee was good though. Good enough. And the glass of water smelled of dish soap, so I didn't drink that either. :-( Whenever I come into a place like this, I have high hopes that I'll be stumbling on a hidden gem. Of course, can't expect a winner every time. After today's visit, I wouldnt expect it here. Sad to say, but hopefully just an off morning!Good aspects include plenty of seating, including several larger tables for groups, waitress was nice enough, and small town retirees lend an authentic din. And the coffee was passable.

Gus's is a casual dining restaurant in downtown Folsom. On a recent trip to a nursery outside of Folsom, we stopped in at Gus's for lunch. As we walked in I was reminded of so many small town restaurants I have been to over the years. The menu was posted on the wall above the register. Once we ordered, we sat down and our server came and asked what we ordered. This was a nice touch since most times you order at a counter you get a number for your table.Even though we were far from New Orleans I was craving a roast beef po-boy, so I ordered that with some gravy fries. The po-boy was pretty good. The roast beef seemed homemade and the bread was correct. The gravy fries were just ordinary. The cheese used was sliced american which detracted from the dish.Service was very prompt and friendly. Everyone we encountered seemed genuinely happy.Next time I am in Folsom, I will be sure to stop in.

They now take credit cards. Order the pot roast, tender and delicious, the bacon cheese burger is my other favorite.

The coffee is hot and fresh too!I have eaten lunch here once, I believe I had the pork chops, also no complaints on that meal.Go for a breakfast, brunch or lunch, you won't be disappointed!

Okay to start they do take cards now so that is such a plus for anyone else who needs to know. I personally only like their breakfast. I absolutely love their pancakes and I'm not a person who likes pancakes but I most definitely like theirs. I normally order the bacon egg and cheese biscuits with only egg whites. It's delicious. My family loves to eat breakfast here. They only serve breakfast until like 11 am which is normal then they swap to lunch menu. My daughter loves to get their club sandwich.

I'm not sure how this place is even open. My husband and I both ordered Philly cheesesteak sandwiches and got three pieces of some sort of partially dried, reconstituted meat product with some onions and a piece of reconstituted sliced white cheese product slapped on a stale sesame seed hamburger bun. I broke off a small piece of what was supposed to be meat and tasted it and it was SOUR. The two fries that I tried were decent. My husband attempted to eat a few bites of his sandwich but I couldn't even try so we left. The girl at the register was extremely rude, tables were dirty, floor was dirty, bathroom was disgusting. I actually hate to write a bad review, especially for what is probably a family owned restaurant during challenging economic times, but this place was so bad I feel like I should warn people.
