Love restaurants with an open concept kitchen. Had the best dinner with friends here. Service was ok, it gets quite busy and sometimes we had to chase down our server.I highly recommend trying their pork belly appetizer and their banana bread. My TOP 3 banana breads I've had in my life. Each bite with the ice cream was perfect.Highly recommend trying their desserts!!

We love love love Gris-Gris. One day I'm gonna come without my whole work crew and sit at the kitchen bar and watch the magic.Shrimp And Grits are such perfection. Chicken and Dumplings? C'est parfait. Soooo good. Ambiance is on point. 12/10 will return every time I'm in NOLA.

If you want great food with a great view, get a balcony spot at Gris-Gris. Great view of a bit the downtown skyline and the bridge, framed by the neighborhood around you. It's especially atmospheric at night with the bridge lights.Cocktails are great, and the food is complex and delicious.

After a long day of walking and shopping it was nice to take a load off at Gris-Gris. The dark wood paneling interior with industrial decor is beautiful and has a chill vibe. The staff is friendly but not overbearing. There is plenty of outdoors seating - on the sidewalk downstairs and a balcony upstairs. I was seated at the bar being a party of one.Ordered the shrimp and grits and a lemon ice box pie. The shrimps were very big and generous, the spices were perfectly done, and it was a nice portion for lunch. This is the first time I had a lemon ice box pie. I thought the filling was a bit blend, and the pie crust (graham cracker) is very thin on the bottom. Overall a great place to stop when you are walking around Magazine street

This was my first stop on my recent visit to eat my way around NOLA.Cute little spot. How glad am I that stopped in, you may ask ... tremendously.Filled with Oysters BLT, Chicken Gizzards, and a couple of French 75's with cognac instead of gin and I was in heaven. Oysters were fried perfectly but could've use a bit more seasoning for me were served with pork belly instead of bacon and topped with micro greens. The absolute star of the show was an unexpected yet welcomed shock, the chicken gizzards. Slow braised for 4 hours. Seasoned and fried added to a brown onion gravy served on top of cheese grits. I was in awe at how tender the gizzards were and flavorful this dish was overall. Absolutely delicious!! This variation of a French 75 may be my favorite.Great good, great service, and great vibes ... I want to go back right now.

This place came highly recommended by a couple friends who said it was the "best food they've ever had". Had a reservation for 7pm and got there a bit early, they were able to get us in at 6:45pm. Not sure what was happening downstairs- it looked like a Benihana type situation with a bar surrounding some cooks and people sitting around with plates. We were taken upstairs where there were a bunch of high tops. The patio looked cool but it was chilly- and they kept all the patio doors open so it was too chilly for us to take our coats off inside. The ambiance was nice. Waitress was nice. I don't eat seafood and I think to have an exceptional meal, you may need to order seafood. My boyfriend did not feel like eating seafood at the time so he ordered the chicken and dumplings. I ordered the ribeye, which only came with one side. I chose garlic mashed potatoes. We also ordered a cup of chicken and andouille gumbo. The gumbo was tasty. The chicken and dumplings were good but sooo bland! It could have at least used some salt and pepper, which we did not have at the table. My steak was disappointing. It had so much fat so the edible part was so small compared to the size of the steak. It didn't taste super seasoned and came with a gravy. The gravy was bland and nothing special. The mashed potatoes were delicious. Now for $52, I feel like they could throw in a veggie with the dish. A small edible portion of steak and mashed potatoes that were just mediocre was not worth the $52. The chicken and dumplings bowl was a generous portion. We also got two alcoholic beverages. Mine was just okay. My boyfriend liked his. For a cup of gumbo, steak and mashed potatoes, chicken and dumplings, and two alcoholic beverages, we paid $127 before tip. I don't think it was worth it. I suppose seafood must be the speciality here, but the chef is famous and held in high regard, so I feel like everything on the menu should be good. The menu is small. Everything on it should be delicious. Unfortunately, I will not go out of my way to return.

Gris-Gris is pure Southern voodoo--hot, messy, and guaranteed to leave you satisfied. The jumbo wings are so crispy it should be illegal, the disco fries are straight-up seduction, and the cocktails? Let's just say you might make some bad decisions... and love every second of it.

Located on the corner of Magazine Street in the vibrant Garden District, Gris-Gris offers a fresh, modern take on classic Cajun and Creole cuisine. My party of three visited for an early Saturday dinner, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We opted to sit on the second-floor balcony, which boasts a quintessential New Orleans atmosphere, complete with charming black wrought iron railings and a perfect view of the bustling street below. The timing of our visit was strategic--Gris-Gris offers an all-week happy hour that runs until 6 p.m., and the happy hour menu is a fantastic way to sample dishes and drinks from their main menu at a more budget-friendly price. We took full advantage of this, ordering the muffuletta bruschetta and Natchitoches meat pies, along with a round of cocktails that included the Satsuma 75, Petit Daiquiri, and a classic Old Fashioned. Each drink was expertly crafted and complemented our appetizers perfectly, so much so that we ended up ordering a second round.A special mention goes to our waitress, who was not only friendly and attentive but also made sure to let us know when we were nearing the end of happy hour--giving us the opportunity to sneak in one last drink before prices returned to normal. The appetizers were generously portioned, flavorful, and satisfying, making it easy for us to decide to keep it light on the mains. Instead of ordering full entrees, we shared a bowl of the gumbo and the Whole Creole Redfish Bouillon. Both dishes were outstanding, with the gumbo being rich and hearty, and the redfish cooked to perfection--crispy on the outside, tender and flaky inside.Of course, no meal at Gris-Gris would be complete without indulging in their legendary bread pudding. Served warm and a-la-mode, it's the perfect sweet ending to a fantastic meal--rich, comforting, and absolutely delicious.Gris-Gris strikes a perfect balance between modern and traditional, offering a refined take on New Orleans flavors in a casual, inviting setting. Whether you're stopping by for a quick happy hour bite or settling in for a full meal, Gris-Gris is a must-visit if you find yourself on Magazine Street, especially before 6 p.m. for the happy hour deals.
