It was so fun to visit the oldest bar in Metairie! Their atmosphere was a little dank but they made a wonderful grapefruit vodka! I loved the crowd and the old Metairie vibe :)

As my local watering hole, this ole rathskeller never fails to put a smile on my face after a long day at the factory. What to choose? A cold Stella on draft or a domestic bottle from the 100 year old fridge that always cools to a perfect 34 degrees? I'll have both. I'll also have some hushpuppies... with butter dipping sauce. Gennaros is a locals bar, a timeless fixture here on ole Metry Road. Great people, great bartenders, fair prices. BOTTOM LINE: A fantastic ole saloon in the heart of Metry.

I stopped in to check out this local spot and I met the "Regulars" at the bar. Cool folks & good drinks. They have a pool table & 3 video poker games. Plus, they've got a cigarette machine, jukebox, dart boards, a golf tee video game & an ATM. The only negative is how smoky this place is. They have the ceiling fans going full-time but it just whirls the smoke around & around. The owner is Clay, and not only did he personally greet this 1st time guest, but he also gave me directions to a follow-on event.

I went to Gennaro's with some friends last night, not really expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun I had!I'd never sung karaoke at a small neighborhood bar, and I thought it would be weird, but I really liked it! The place was busy but not packed so we all got to sing a bunch of times. Jonathan is an awesome karaoke DJ. He knows his regulars and has a ton of songs. Seems like a really nice guy too.The main downside is that the drinks are quite sub-par. They didn't even have any limes! Kinda ruins a gin & tonic. However at $3 you get what you pay for. Also as noted in another review, it does get very smoky and my eyes started to sting.Another plus is that there is tons of parking under the overpass.

I've been dragged here a few times for karaoke. I'm not the biggest fan of karaoke but if I'm being dragged off somewhere to do it then I will do it to the best of my super awesome ability to belt it out! I've never been here when it has been crowded and I've had to get a taxi to finally escape to where there were actually people as my friends won't ever leave. I get bored pretty quick in here and have a limited karaoke shelf life as once I've done my performance and put so much energy into it I just don't have much left to hang out with just 5 other people while they keep on and on doing karaoke til dawn!!! If you want a bar nearly all to yourself to karaoke this is your place.

*REVIEW FOR BAR, NOT RESTAURANT*I didn't eat here, I just came and sang karaoke. Actually, I came and sang karaoke here a BUNCH of times. Completely an amazing time. Jon, the DJ has a huge collection of songs that he picked up from being friends with other KJs in the area. The drinks are moderate, and they usually have heavy pours. This place closes somewhere between 4 and 5am which is awesome. Most of the clientele are Old Metairie folks none of which are younger than 40. Occasionally, you'll have groups of college students/young professionals come in and sing, but either way it's a fun time (provided you go for karaoke).

Not crazy about the "smoky bar room" environment, but you won't find a better tasting hot roast beef po boy! Great sandwich and the wait staff was friendly.

This bar has been here forever. It's a great location for the St. Patrick's Day parade. No draft, just bottles. But I can live with that. For entertainment, they have a Golden Tee machine, shuffleboard, and a pair of dart boards, plus video poker machines. Signs around claimed they had Karaoke on Friday nights. Several TVs scattered were around. Jukebox seemed set on loud.

Pretty good food. Okay service. I think it's running a bit on reputation. The folks were friendly enough, but it was slow. Maybe they were short staffed. Will try again.
