Best beignets! They are fresh- puffy and layered inside. Other well known places in the city served them cold and doughy.

I believe I had the French Market breakfast plate, which came with eggs, ham, a biscuit , and grits. Everything was very tasty, and I was happy I stopped here to eat breakfast, but what stood out the most out of my breakfast was the grits. OMG, the grits blew my mind. The grits were amazing!!! It was so good that it made my whole day. So happy I stopped here and I highly recommend you do the same. I came here with my wife and she had the grits with the shrimps on top that had some kind of cream over the grits I forget the name of the plate but she liked it a lot. I couldn't try it due to my allergic reaction to shrimp but I take her word for it and she enjoyed her meal as well. When we come back to New Orleans I will be trying lunch and/or diner here and I can't wait. We ate outside and it was a great atmosphere here and on top of everything we had a really friendly waitress. Definitely a must try.

Best fried green tomatoes (circled in red on the menu)! Crispy and tasty. The charbroiled oysters were okay, but I think I prefer the tomatoes.

After our tragic experience at PJ's in the New Orleans airport terminal, my wife and I wandered down to our gate with maybe 20 minutes to spare before we boarded.Lo and behold, near our gate was French Market Cafe & Bar, and they were selling beignets.Ok, I thought -- why not give them a try? I placed an order and then waited a little bit. Several other people who had placed orders before me were also waiting.Within just a couple minutes, the woman behind the register proceeded to drop a bunch of uncooked beignets into a fryer on the counter, and they started their transformation -- quickly expanding into those puffed-up globes of dough we were all waiting for. When the beignets were done, the woman put three in each of the waiting paper lunch sacks, then dumped a scoop of powdered sugar onto the hot beignets -- instantly commencing the melting process.I didn't expect much in the way of food at the New Orleans airport (hopefully the new terminal will be much better), but these beignets were very good. Not up to Cafe du Monde standards, but not all that far off.Perfect way to end a wonderful long weekend in New Orleans!

Omg. Their beignet is so yummy. One of a kind. It like a croissant and donut in one. Actually it like a cronuts! Addicted and for the cost it really a good price for how big they are. It only I can get them without having to make a trip to the airport to leave out of town.

Really different than any beignet I've ever had. Its clearly pastry dough (flakey) and its all layered inside. It tasted quite good but UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS BARELY WARM!!! Such a bummer. Also the sign advertises "stuffed beignets" which I was curious to try but they've discontinued it! She also gave it to us in a bag without asking if we wanted it to go. We sat and ate in there anyway.

Pretty good. May not be Café Du Monde but it definitely will fulfill that beignet craving before leaving NOLA.

You don't have many options at this airport in New Orleans, but if you do get a few minutes waiting for your flight, the French market café does have some pretty good pastries. Of course, the powdered sugar covered beignets are the big attraction. So, if you forget to get your beingnets down at Cafe du Monde in the French Quarter, you have a second chance here at the airport :-)

We stopped by the French Market while looking for a place to drink after a Grey Line swamp tour. My husband and I were blown away by the delicious food. We both had a sazerac to drink, and the gumbo as an appetizer. If you love okra-based gumbo, this one is sure to please. My husband had the jambalaya. It was made with dirty, included savory ground beef and was rich in flavor. I had red beans and rice with a side if fried catfish. Wow. The catfish was light and tender with a perfectly fried breading crust. The beans had a nice smokey flavor that came from either a roux or the sausage that was cooked with the beans. I strongly recommend this restaurant!

Under NO circumstances should you even attempt to eat upstairs outside on the patio or bar area! Hands down the worst dining/server/busboy/ etc...communication. Could not get anyone to seat us, serve us. Clean up, no beer on tap, etc... downstairs looked to be much better !!!
