I stopped in here for brunch on a Sunday. Even though it was a packed parking lot, we didn't have to wait too long to be seated. I ordered the Stuffed Blueberry Biscuit and requested just a half order of 1 instead of 2 and I'm glad I did. It was a lot going on for just one! The biscuit is cut open-faced and slathered with cream cheese and blueberry pie filling then dusted with powdered sugar and dolloped with whipped cream. It was like a cross between eating blueberry pie and blueberry cobbler. The next time I stopped in I ordered the Apple Stuffed Biscuit and it wasn't as good as the Blueberry. I think the Apple one would probably be better if the filling was eaten warmed. I have also tried the Beignets. I ordered a half of each type. The plain was not so great. Just too doughy and blah. The Sweet Potato was better, but I would still rather get the Stuffed Blueberry Biscuit. The sausage patties are made with Mild Jimmy Dean sausage so they are good too - better than the Bacon. The Pancakes are okay too if you aren't in the mood for the Biscuit. The Reese's one was overly sweet and the Pecan was messy and on the drier side but syrup fixed that.

Frank's is another one of those incredible Baton Rouge traditions that one needs to experience to understand. They are known as a major breakfast/brunch place, but they also have a fantastic lunch menu as well. It's definitely an old-fashioned restaurant that serves generous portions of home-style cooking. Since they are known for breakfast, we should start there. They have a full-featured menu that includes both sweet and savory choices. The French Toast options are amazing, as are the pancakes and omelettes. There's also a creative menu of Benedict options that include some local flavors. The standout though is the hashbrowns! These are the little cubes of potatoes that are so savory and satisfying. There's even a Mexican Supreme Hashbrowns option that is a whole meal in itself! The biscuits are claimed to be the world's best, and I can't confirm that myself but I do think they are a contender!Lunch can be a breakfast combination, or a thing on its own. They are also known as a smokehouse, and this is reflected in their choice of sausages, including alligator for local flavor. You can try the Sausage Sampler Appetizer to see the differences between these options. One of my favorites is the Hamburger Steak, reminds me of things my family always liked. Another great option is the pork chops! The waitstaff are prompt and personable, and the prices are moderate. Definitely something that visitors as well as residents should check out!

If crackle barrel is your speed I could see how this place would seem like a steakhouse to you. But really all the accolades for an old school unhealthy breakfast. Immediately felt like crud after and was not a brunch atmosphere I was looking for. Lesson learned. Had the lafourche Benedict and the soft shell crab Benedict. Both seemed to have the same sauce that they drown all dishes in. The crab cakes were good but themself the biscuit was not world best for sure. The soft shell was borderline bad and not jumbo. I will say the corned beef was like potted meat and tiny onion cubes was weird but for some reason couldn't stop taking a bite. For a smokehouse the only thing that seemed to offer for that was sausage. Oh well, service was very friendly but won't be back. Also unusually pricey for this style.

I ordered breakfast via Door Dash on a Sunday morning. The food was plentiful, delicious, and had a good temperature. Everything was seasoned well. I really appreciated that my food had cutlery and condiments especially since I was at a hotel. My biscuits were a lil hard on top, but middle was soft. I've never had before so not sure if it's the norm. But will try again. I look forward to giving another review based on the restaurants menu, service, ambience etc when I visit myself.

Frank's Restaurant & Smokehouse, located in Baton Rouge, LA, offers good food at a decent price. I stopped by here yesterday on my way back to Texas and ordered the Alligator Breakfast Platter. This was my first time eating an Alligator sausage. If you have never eaten it you will be surprised. It is not greasy, and the link has a spicy taste. I did enjoy it. The biscuits are large, fluffy inside, and have a hard crust. You can eat them plain, with butter, jelly, or something else. I had the strawberry jam, making them very delicious to me. The home fries were a lot and cooked just right. My eggs were cooked well, too. The coffee was also very good.Wonderful service, our server Ann was knowledgeable and nice. She answered all of our questions. She then ensured we had our cups filled and order correct. I asked for a to go cup for my coffee and a container for the extra biscuit I couldn't eat. Ann provided them promptly. The restaurant is set up like a diner. It has many tables that are adequately spaced. There is plenty of seating that is needed for the number of customers wanting to dine. There is plenty of parking, too. If you are in the Baton Rouge area, then you should try Frank's Restaurant & Smokehouse. I think you will enjoy the experience as much as I did.

Fairly busy for a weekday morning with several groups of diners however plenty of open seating. Excellent service with someone frequently checking on you. Good food (although wouldn't say anything out of this world), but I will say an amazing price for the amount of food you get! We ordered the beignet balls (half sweet potato, half regular) which were nice and fluffy, kind of almost had a cornbread flavor. The New Orleans french toast was upgraded for $1 to include eggs, bacon or sausage which we upgraded to ham for $2 more. My husband raved about the ham (grilled). Honestly we took half the food home and had it for breakfast the next day!

On our way out of Baton Rouge we stopped at Franks for breakfast. The sweet potato beignets with some honey I think was the star of all the meals. Service was great and nice country store feel to the inside of the restaurant.

Honestly anytime anyone says breakfast/brunch Frank's is my GO-TO. People have to remind me there are other breakfast spots. Everything I've tried there has been fantastic. I love the omelets and gluten free pancakes!!!! I was shocked when I found out they had GF options. I love the servers and the feel of the place. I always feel right at home!
