We had the absolute BEST time visit Frankie and Johnny's! My friends and I went for a late lunch (arrived around 1:45/2p) and are already planning to go again on our next trip to NOLA. We were looking for somewhere we could eat that had a variety of local favorites and wasn't in the middle of Bourbon. Plenty of parking, no wait when we arrived, and the service was incredible! Rose was our waitress and she was so kind to answer our questions about the menu, specials, and even gave us a few samples of items we were uncertain about! Couldn't recommend enough. Food was AWESOME and portions were perfectly on-point with the price!PS - the Ranch dressing is made in-house! SO GOOD!!!!

Frankie and Johnny's is a classic New Orleans neighborhood bar serving great food, located right off Tchoupitoulas and Arabella, uptown. This is more of a local place versus a tourist destination. You can find ice cold Barq's root beer here served in a chilled mug upon request and a spectacular roast beef Poboy. When crawfish is in season, I recommend getting tray after tray and sloshing it down with a pitcher of a cold beverage of your choice. The oyster Poboys are exceptional, and they are made with Leidenheimer french bread, a standard. The stuffed artichokes are a dream and the chicken andouille gumbo is some of the best in town. The chargrilled oysters are superb. The service is neat and professional and no nonsense. The ambience is typical New Orleans bar scene and you will get a kick out of the local guests. The spot is also very popular with local college students, as it is close to Loyola and Tulane. The Hours: Mon-Sat 11am-9pm, Sun 11am-8pm.

This is the kind of hole in the wall I want in Louisiana. It is not a tourist trap in style or price. We frequent New Orleans restaurants. We arrived at opening to meet up with family from 10 hours away with an interest in crawfish. An online article indicated they might have them, but did not due to current weather conditions. We, however were not disappointed. For an appetizer we ordered a combo appetizer of fried onion rings and bell peppers with what tasted like a made in house ranch. Wow! What a yummy appetizer! Our order included red beans and rice, plus chicken, a kid's shrimp and fries, and large a fried oyster poboy. Our guests had similar food including sweet potato fries, and chicken gumbo. Everything was excellent. We have been to multiple places in the French Quarter that can't hold a candle to this. If we want the epitome of good home Creole cooking, this is your spot.

In A Nutshell:-I came by Frankie & Johnny's for their highly rated crawfish, but just missed out by a week.-That was a slight bummer, but you adapt & overcome.-So after looking at their menu, I ordered some Grilled Shrimp w/ Potato Salad.-That turned out to be very tasty, I enjoyed the flavorful shrimp & the potato salad was really good.Overall, this is a neighborhood restaurant in Uptown NOLA where you can enjoy good food & have drinks at their bar.

Second chance. This place has gone WAY DOWN!!! Our waitress was frazzled and rude! Food took over an hour. Chargrilled oysters were terrible. The gumbo was not good. Incidentally, we were here a couple of weeks ago for crawfish. Crawfish was not good and sides (potatoes and corn) were flavorless. We weren't willing to rule them out after only one visit. Everyone has a bad day. After today, we won't be coming back. 25 years and F&J has never been like this. Crossing it off my list.
