Not sure what to put in this review other than it is one of the best damn trucks in the city of New Orleans. But let me give you a quick funny story on how I found out about this truck:When I was in high school, one day this kid came to theatre arts class and said he had the most insane burger over Mardi Gras break. A "king cake" burger to be exact. Clearly, I thought the guy was joking. But I always thought about where the hell I could get one from. That is until I scrolled through my IG feed last week, the week before Mardi Gras, only to see one of my IG followers eating a burger between a king cake bun. Lo and behold, the burger was from Food Drunk Food Truck and as a foodie and food blogger, I HAD to have it.601 Poydras is where they were located during the day parades and at night they served at Tipitina's during Mardi Gras. I opted to grab my food before my drunk and was far from disappointed. The King Cake burger consists of an Angus brisket burger, crispy bacon, melted cheddar cheese and yes, a brioche king cake frosted bun. This burger is not for the faint of heart but it is absolutely worth trying if you're visiting or even from the city. Some may assume it is a food fad burger, but aside from looking like one of Spongebob's "Pretty Patties" the burger is just really damn good. You can't deny that. I got a side of their Duck Fat fries and I was in heaven; the rosemary is the perfect touch and the Cajun ranch and spicy ketchup is a great addition for dipping. I can tell I'll be hunting this truck down even when Mardi Gras season is over to try some of their other delicious chef inspired, alcohol influenced cuisine.

What do you do when you are extremely hungry, locked inside of a venue, and there is a food truck? You walk up to that food truck and you order the giant hot dog and you inhale it. This food truck is New Orleans and that's why I needed to give it a try. The hot dog was massive and since I'm a boring person I got mine plain. There's not much to say about a food truck, the staff was nice and the food was delicious, give it a try!

King Cake Burger was just alright. Beef needs flavor. Husband loved his BBQ Melt and Duck Fat Fries.

In my opinion, the food is a good concept, I'm maybe not the target audience, but I can see where people would like it. Keep in mind that this is a food truck. If it were not for the fact that it was parked on the same corner last Mardi Gras, and this Mardi Gras, I am not sure where to find it, or where it is located. I am sure you can find out with a Google search.Their main specialty is the king cake burger. The top of the bun is iced and sprinkled like the king cake. It's a beef burger, with cheese and all the fixings. It was good, I just couldn't finish it. This year, during Mardi Gras, I had the BBQ burger, which had all the toppings. It was good, but messy. The duck fat fries were good, but the portion was a bit small for the price. I spent $17 and somehow feel like I was ripped off. This is a great concept, and great to try once.

It just so happens that Food Drunk Food Truck parks less than 600 feet from my office every day for lunch. However, every time I pass there, there is always a line; and even though it moves quickly, I am usually in an extreme hurry to get lunch, as I only have 30 minutes. However, this past week, the line has been 40-60 people deep and the local news cameras have been out there filming them. I stopped by on Friday to see what the hype was all about and that's when I saw they had a "King Cake Burger" on their menu.Fast forward to today and I found myself on site at 11:15 before the crowds arrived so that I could try this intriguing burger. The employees inside are super friendly and the truck appears to be very clean. I ordered this famous burger and it was ready in less than 3 minutes. While I was waiting, the server advised me that the burger was awesome as a bacon burger, but since I had already paid, he said he'd throw the bacon on for free. (How I love me some lagniappe). The King Cake burger's bun is actually frosted and covered with purple, green and gold granulated sugar to resemble a king cake. But it's not an actual king cake that has a cinnamon infused dough, as IMO, this would be too sweet. The beef patty was probably 1/3 pound, was grilled perfectly and had that smoky grilled taste that I was craving. The cheese was definitely a real cheddar cheese and not some pasteurized "cheese food product". The bacon, which I am guessing was a thick cut apple wood smoked variety; possibly nueske bacon, put this burger over the top. It's smoky flavor combined with the grilled burger counteracted the potential over-sweetness of the king cake bun to create a taste harmony that I didn't think could exist. Don't knock this burger till you try it, as the flavors truly compliment one another. This aint no fad burger. This is the real deal and should be kept on the menu year round. Don't shy away from the $10.00 price tag, as it's worth every penny. Go on and get you one! I can hardly wait to try some additional offerings from this cool truck.

This was my 2nd time (maybe 3rd) sampling the wares from this truck. Today it was a really delicious lobster/crab mac n cheese. Seriously amazing with an almost crab au gratin taste.Previously I had there jicama watermelon salad which was also delicious. I will definitely need to stalk them a few more times and sample more dishes.Prices are good & the food comes up quick AND the truck has an awning which is nice if it starts raining...

It seems like my experience was a bit out of the ordinary, but I wasn't that impressed with the Food Drunk Truck. After reading all of the rave reviews, I bookmarked Food Drunk a while back. One day I was looking for something different for lunch so I consulted my food truck app, found where they were and headed to the corner of Loyola and Poydras. I lucked out and got a close parking spot on the corner that may or may not have been legal, but I was close enough to watch for the meter maids.I probably should have gone with a burger. Instead I saw the special of the day was a steak sandwich so I ordered that and a side of duck fat fries. The guy taking the order assured me that the spicy ketchup i requested was in the container so I took my food and headed back to my office. The first issue I encountered was that the sandwich was not wrapped very well. This lead to me getting black stuff from the grill on my shirt when I tried unlocking my door. I probably should have been more careful, but the sandwich was hanging out of the container. The second issue was the food itself. The sandwich was dry and tough and had a burnt taste. It seemed like it was left on the griddle far too long. Next up were the fries which were another disappointment. There was no spicy ketchup as promised. All that was in the container was some sort of citrus sauce. The fries were pretty dry and in need of sauce so, despite my dislike of citrusy sauces, I used what I had. The sauce did improve the fried greatly, but there wasn't enough of it. Part of the problem was that the sauce container wasn't sealed leading to much of the sauce draining to the bottom of the container. Reading all of the other Yelp reviews makes me think that I visited this truck on a really off day. I hope to give it a try again and will update my review accordingly.

We heard a lot about this King Cake Burger and against my better judgment, we went on an adventure to find them last Sunday. First of all, if you're unsure of where the truck is, be sure to check their Facebook page (just search Food Drunk Food Truck on Google and it's the first hit) and they update daily with where you can find them. Alright, so back to the burger. Despite there being a parade going on, there was no line at the truck, so it was easy in and out. $10 for a King Cake Burger, which I'll admit looked fantastic-- gooey cheese, piping hot, etc.So, here's my criticism: man, a King Cake Burger tastes a lot like a King Cake Burger. I don't know what I was expecting, but yup, that's king cake and a burger. Don't get me wrong, the meat was fantastic, there was tons of delicious cheese, and completely separate from the burger, I guess the king cake wasn't bad. Together though? Man, I don't need sprinkles on my burger, ok?I don't really know what could make this better for me. Maybe if they did some sort of sauce on the burger that married the two flavors, but as is, the whole thing is kind of jarring. Or maybe I'm just a boring eater. Who knows.
