Good fresh fried shrimp wrap but not a lot of options for sides like on posted menus just fries and onion rings. I ordered the "firecracker" shrimp wrap and while the shrimp were fresh and a decent amount on the wrap the breading was lackluster and there wasn't really any "fire" to firecracker sauce it seemed more to be a mix of ketchup and mayo with no spice at all. Will certainly give it another try If only because they seem to the only place around that has royal red shrimp.

Fantastic cracklings including chicken cracklings. Boudin balls were good but I still prefer Billy's. Will definitely go back for the cracklings though.

This place is a godsend! Apart from being your typical convenience store, they have a restaurant with dine-in and carry-out options. During the week they serve breakfast, and while I haven't personally been there for breakfast, I've only heard raving reviews; especially about the Shrimp & Grits. You can get a variety of boiled seafood here for decent prices. The crawfish are amazingly seasoned and good size - especially for now being toward the end of season. I heard rave reviews about the Royal Red Shrimp, so I ordered a pound. It set me back about $10, but it was absolutely worth it. To me, they seem more like prawn than shrimp, but at the end of the day they're delicious and semantics don't matter. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Quick tip: They keep kind of off hours and don't serve breakfast on weekends, so definitely check before driving over.

Guys the food here is great. It was the service I received I did not care for. I felt like I was lied to. When I questioned how much the boiled shrimp were I was given two prices one for heads on and the other for Louisiana reds heads off. The heads on were 9.99 a pound. The reds were 10.99 a pound. I purchased 2 pounds of the heads on the girl pushed on the scale 10.99 a pound. I am no math genius but when I questioned this, the lady ringing it up said no you where charged the 9.99 and the display on the scale is wrong. Did she offer me the receipt NO. Did she offer to show me the sticker printed NO. I have not been back. Re-read my first sentence the food is Great I just don't like being lied to. This was before the Covid-19 issue. Actual date is Good Friday.

Second best crawfish in Ascension from a market. It's a small little gas station area with lunch specials and Tuesday crawfish specials. I get my fill off the boudin balls when I don't want to drive to Tony's or Billy's by going here. Their tasty and fresh. The people are there to get you in and out which is fine with me. There is a little dining area if you decide you want to eat in and a snowball shack outside. Love this little place.

I have passed this place many times but have never stopped. I remember the old store and it was not my favorite place. Duck Roost was totally redone and very inviting. Keep in mind, this is a very country, down home kind of restaurant.I ordered the shrimp cocktail. It had 13 shrimp which were tasty but pretty ordinary. It came with a remoulade sauce. This dip had mustard seeds, pesto, and some other delicious component. It was VERY different than anything I've ever had but it was delicious. I also ordered a half order of alligator sauce piquant. Super delicious- it was served over a bead of fluffy white rice and a piece of garlic bread. This meal came with a 22 oz drink for 18 bucks. I left fully satisfied and didn't spend a fortune. I will totally be going back! The four stars is due to the lack of seating. There was a lot of people there and not a lot of tables.

Huge Disappointment Atmosphere: Not very clean, hardly any fried food in the hot case. The restaurant and the food did not look anything like the website and the photos here.Food: Cracklins - the cut was good, but the flavor was bad. I tasted 3 that tasted like urine smells, very ammonia tasting. I threw them away.Boiled Gulf Shrimp - they were kept in a plastic container on a counter at room temperature. They had a chlorine flavor like shrimp from out of state. However several tasted rotten. We threw all of them away.Overall, I will never go back.

Locally family owner and operates. The food is good and the staff is like family. Daily lunch specials Monday through Friday. The crawfish is to die for. My husband loves the fried shrimp and one of my favorites is the bacon cheese burger with added grilled shrimp ;)
