Food was OUTSTANDING. Service was garbage. I made an online order through Google and I guess it was processed through Menufy. When I arrived to pick up my order I was told they didn't have some items. About $8 worth. I asked for a substitute (cake instead of brownies) I was told no that they couldn't that and I had to take it up with Menufy. I messaged Menufy and they told me they would work on my behalf to get the refund from Castalano's! Turns out Castalano's was responsible for the refund! Now if I lived there, going and bugging the manager for my $8 wouldn't be a big deal but I was on day 19 of a 20 day road trip! I was just passing through and wanted one of their muffuletta sandwiches (which was amazing btw). The service was curt and rude, the lady behind the counter couldn't be bothered.

Both wee man and I get these cravings for a Sammy Sandwich, which is really the T-Bast (Turkey, Bacon, avocado,Swiss cheese and tomato). The food here is delicious. No. Really. Delicious. Tucked back off of Main Street, next door to the Main Event. You might actually miss it, but locals know and this place gets packed. For years never realized it was a lunch place. I started with the Pastrami, then the Rueben. I couldn't believe they were even listed. New York would be proud.Next I discovered the T Bast, I was kinda hooked. Reminds me of California....Served with either home made chips or potato salad....and both delicious.Lucky for me, Sam Castalano forced me to try specials. Sandwich and Salads specials are featured for 3 weeks and a daily special. I've had the crab soup, a tamale soup, the Uptown Shrimp PoBoy and countless others. Yep, all delicious. To comment on another reviewer regarding the styrofoam containers, at first I was suspect too. The reality is that this restaurant serves a downtown community and 99% of the guests are on their lunch breaks. Today I really took notice and just a few threw their containers out, the rest took portions with them. The portions are large and I too, usually take half my sandwich home. Time to go now.....I'm already dreaming about the next TBAST....and you will too, I promise

I've been coming here for over a decade now, and the food is just as good now as it was then. During the week, this place gets pretty busy but they do have a drive-thru And you can call in to go. Their desserts are cut in perfect size portions and if you're looking for cold or hot plates, this is the best selection in town. From crabmeat and asparagus salad too hot fresh lasagna, this restaurant has it all. On nice days you can sit outside under the patio. One of my favorite dishes here is the grilled chicken pasta salad, but today I opted in for sweet potato fries, the T-bas sandwich, and white chocolate bread pudding. If you are visiting from out of town, I highly recommend this deli for lunch.

By almost every measurement, this place is sorta terrific. It attempts a broad array of Cajun-influenced seafood and Italian specialties and generally succeeds across the map. I haven't had a bad meal here. The salads use fresh greens with a wonderful marinade on a perfectly prepared tuna steak. Soups are flavorful and the gumbo uses a reliable roux. The atmosphere in the restaurant is sprightly, clean, contemporary, and inviting. But someone needs to call the World Wildlife Fund on them. Or Greenpeace. Or even just Al Gore. Why, oh WHY, do they have to serve everything using carry-out dishes, even when you're eating inside? Obviously they don't want to hire a dishwasher or install a machine, but it's really weird, sitting there in the restaurant, eating out of a Styrofoam clamshell, and watching everyone else do the same. Plastic utensils. Styrofoam cups, even for the free water. Styrofoam bowls for the soup. I can't imagine how quickly they fill up a dumpster at Castalano's. If you want to take someone from another country to show them the epitome of wasteful America, as Brigham Young declared, "This is the place."Great little restaurant, but I have to dock it a star until it can prove to me that the owners give two hoots about their carbon footprint.

Stopped in for lunch while in town visiting relatives for the holidays. The corn and crab bisque was delicious. Mr. Sam stopped and talked with us for awhile. Good food and good company! We will return for sure

Castalano's is a nice little restaurant in downtown Houma, LA. Their food and service are excellent. The menu has everything from salads and burgers to wraps, gumbo and other dishes. I definitely recommend going if you're downtown, hungry, and want good food!

I've been to this restaurant MANY times for lunch, as I work very close by. Their tropical chicken salad is absolutely my favorite thing to eat in the history of ever. Something about the salty chicken with the sweet fruits and that poppyseed dressing. OMG their Splenda poppyseed dressing is so good I could drink it! Their downfall, in my opinion, is the time it takes from ordering to actually getting the food. I completely understand that this is NOT a 'fast food' restaurant, but at the same time, it shouldn't take 30 minutes to get gumbo that is already cooked. There hasn't been a time that I've visited and haven't taken at least an hour lunch break, even though I work a half mile away. I will be back though. I'd probably wait 2 hours for that tropical chicken salad!!!

Delicous food, Salads, Penne pastas, deserts. Portion size is enormous (i'm going to ask for 1/2 sizes next time). I ordered the pasta and literally got 4 pounds of pasta. wow.Served in only take away plastic silverware and styrofoam boxes! (terrible, it really cheapens the place and talk about making a big pile of garbage for the landfill )
