Great breakfast biscuits and sandwiches. Lunch specials are daily however Thursday's are my favorite, fried catfish, white beans and cornbread is served. The catfish is fried to a golden crispy delight, the beans are creamy with lots of smoked sausage. If you can't make Thursday try the roast beef sandwich lunch special made to order, on fresh Leidenheimer French bread. Down to earth people, nice selection of snacks and OTC items. Definitely a place to pop in when your in the Bellechasse area.

Man, sandwiches were awesome. On point. Any of the po boys are a winner, but please do give the sausage one a try.

Great place to stop in and grab some food if you want a little bit to eat. Friendly people and good food. They don't have bacon though, and no pancakes or waffles but other than that it pretty good eatin.

Captain Larry's is definitely a local's place. It is a no thrills kind of place with delicious food. Located on the side of the highway, it is a non-descript convenience store with a kitchen and dining/seating area in the back. I probably wouldn't have stopped here on my own because I wouldn't have known about the tasty food lurking in the back of the store. I had a half of a shrimp po'boy and a pound of crawfish. The whole po'boy is at least a footlong. A half is a good size. The crawfish had great flavor and were worth the stop. If you are in the area and want a true locals experience, stop in and be surprised.

This is one of my go to lunch places. I work in the middle of nowhere and Captain Larry's is down the road a few miles. It is a convenience store/deli/restaurant. They sell shrimp boots, nets, bait buckets, rat traps, cold drinks, coffee, chips, and pickled okra, among other items. The restaurant (and I use that term loosely) is in the back. You order at the deli counter, get your food, then carry your order to the back to plop down and eat. The process seems scrambled when you are in there, but it is surprisingly efficient. They have po'boys, burgers, gumbo, and sandwiches in addition to the daily special. Most of the food is surprisingly tasty. The portions on the lunch specials are hearty. I can never finish it. If you order your fries extra crispy, they will happily oblige. My friend does this every time, and they never bat an eye. The Shrimp poboys are not the best in the city, but they satisfy the craving for something junky and tasty. They are never skimpy on the shrimp. The staff is never overly gushy friendly, but they are polite and move fast. This is what counts at 11:30 on a work day when you gotta stuff your stomach and get back to the grind. The people from the local plants and Naval base eat here and at about noon, it is packed with people in Nomex and camouflage (that cool blue kind that looks like a digitized sky). My order has never been wrong, not once. If you want a unique experience, take a drive and don't let the line at the counter scare you, maybe you can get a pair of shrimp boots.

Wow! Awesome local find! This place doesn't really look like much on the outside (or the inside for that matter, haha) but what they offer is something really genuine and delicious. I went on a Monday and had the red beans and rice lunch special - just awesome flavor and for $7.50 you get a huge serving, a big sausage piece, and tasty cornbread. I'm really looking forward to trying more things and the poboys looked really popular too. Looks like they have breakfast as well - some standard fare. Anyhow, this is a West Bank gem and a solid choice for a quick lunch on the go.

I spend a lot if time going back and forth between Venice and New Orleans. Food options south of the fall are pretty disappointing. So, I try to stop at Captain Larry ' s before I cross that point. The food is great and the prices are very reasonable. I love the daily specials. I've had white beans with catfish and lasagna with salad, corn, and garlic bread. It is also a convenience store; making it very easy to buy snacks. The place is a dive, just be aware.
