Welcome to a super cute restaurant that is tucked away on a fairly calm part of town. I love the restaurants entire eclectic vibe. The menu is fairly small but the offerings all seemed amazing. I had the shrimp and grits which did not disappoint. As someone who lives in Charleston, SC this is a staple for us. But what's different from Charleston and their girts is the Cajun spice and twist. They definitely had a nice little kick to them. The grits are also stone milled grits, so you already know they are about to be good! The staff were also very polite, knew their menu and area well. This restaurant is also within walking distance from most major parts of the town, the French quarter, bourbon street etc.

Had a great brunch here, did not make reservations but there was availability when we came on a Friday around 11am. Hostess was kind, sat us quickly and had a very nice waitress as well. We ordered the shrimp and grits, gumbo, and chicken and waffles (we requested fried chicken)Shrimp and grits were good, love that it had corn in the grits, different from other restaurants but I loved the corn addition Gumbo was good, I'd say it's the standard type of gumbo Chicken and waffles was good as well, not sure how I'd feel about the gravy on top but I actually liked it, I think I would have liked it more if the waffles itself wasn't sweet since the rest of the dish was savory, still a very good dish I just wasn't expecting the waffle to be sweet Would recommend to anyone, good food and good service :)

A must if by the French Quarter/Jackson Square area! My family and I happened to come across this quaint restaurant while walking around the area and failing to find a seat at any restaurant around dinner w the busy holiday season. However, upon talking to the front they were super accommodating and tried their best to fix us a table on the sidewalk. We started with the burrata, gumbo, and tomato soup and all were absolutely delicious and came out super fast. The tomato soup was surprisingly some of the best I've had, super seasoned and tangy! For entrees we got the duck, pork curry, and agnolotti and again, all were absolutely amazing. The agnolotti was unlike anything I've tasted before with a nice combination of sweetness and tanginess from the butternut and goat cheese. Each dish had its own unique spin but all the flavors paired together perfectly. We finished with the bread pudding which was nice and rich but not overly sweet. TLDR: Highly highly recommend checking this place out, all the foods we tried were unique and delicious. Would recommend trying to make a reservation in advance if wanting to sit inside :)

Lovely courtyard for quiet dinner or brunch date in quieter area away from hubbub of French Quarter. Service is warm and efficient. The shrimp and grits was delicious. A nice option if you're in the area.

I had a stellar shrimp and grits - probably the best I've ever had, and I've had a damn good shrimp and grits in Atlanta. We sat at the bar and talked at length with the bartender, who was both skilled and personable. He made me an excellent cocktail - I don't know the name but it was vaguely margarita-ish, with two parts mezcal to one part tequila, and a miniature slice of what I'm guessing was blood orange. Very tasty, citrusy. My friend had chicken and waffles, which he said was excellent. The interior was small, but in a good way, with nice decor. Highly recommended.

Saturday 530pm. Came in fresh off the boat, I mean plane. Christmas decorations on the building.Hostess said she could seat us if we could finish in an hour, when another party for the table would arrive. No problem. No drinks and no dessert for us.Superior ambience Very plush padded seats amid white tablecloths and white cloth napkins, with an overhead chandelier. The $12 starter gumbo had very zesty sauce covering well cooked chunks of chicken and andouille sausage. Among the very best gumbos I've tasted. The $25 jerk spiced pork tenderloin had bits of mango but was on the dry side, and definitely not spicy for a jerk dish. Also small in portion size. The $25 catfish was tender and flaky, covered with a thick layer of black eyed peas, beans, with just the right amount of tomato sauce mixed with honey. Wife thought it tasted like bbq sauce. Again small in portion size -5 oz.Took us a while to flag our waiter, Sterling, but got out of there at 6:24pm, with six minutes to spare before they booted us out for the next reservation.

My group came to Cafe Amelie for dinner and although we made a res for 4, they were flexible and able to seat the 5 of us. We sat in the courtyard, which was a cute area, although the heated lamps didn't really provide enough warmth and the flashing lights could be a bit distracting. For drinks, one of my friends ordered the special cocktail which was an eggnog. However, we learned that the beverage turned out to be non-alcoholic, which was deceptive due to its inclusion under the cocktail menu. I had the french 75 which met my expectations and my friends really enjoyed their drinks as well. For food we ordered the shrimp and grits, fusili a la vodka sauce, and cornmeal and parmesan stuffed agnolotti. The food was phenomenal! The shrimp and grits was so good and my friends really enjoyed what they got as well. Even though the menu is limited, the options are amazing, so I would definitely recommend Cafe Amelie!

The food was amazing! The shrimp and grits was my favorite - the grits were so creamy almost like mashed potatoes. The carrot soup was also very good and creamy. The salad was good and fresh but not too special to me. Lastly, the bread pudding was delicious. The basque cheesecake was good as well but I preferred the bread pudding. Inside is cute and cozy. Service is nice.

First meal in New Orleans and honestly my favorite of them all (excluding oyster pit stops). The shrimp and grits were the best I had on the trip and set the standard for every other shrimp and grits that we tried. Our server Sterling went above and beyond, even recommended some other restaurants to try. A must visit! Check the website for hours and try to make a reservation if you can. They seemed pretty flexible but the indoor area is fairly small. Next time I'll try to grab breakfast to see the courtyard!
