"Service is always friendly and Joey K's is always Joey K's consistency is king here. The seafood is always hot and fresh. The staff always has a smile if it's 4 tables or 40 being served. They are a neighborhood spot through and through and where I always take visitors to city for that first bite or NOLA."
"Great filling food, Large variety of menu offerings. Always a great Bloody Mary and mimosa to start your day. This is our go-to spot when in the downtown area. It's close to our hotel. There is another location closer to the Hilton we now prefer this location. Just a short walk but we'll worth it. Our food is always delivered hot and comes out at 1 time so we can all eat together. They have no problem serving 6 at a table."

"I Really enjoyed dining here. The ambience is perfect, along with the live jazz band. It just added more of an impressive atmosphere to restaurant. The food was amazing, I throughly enjoyed the lamb chops. It came with a creative corn porridge. If I were to try and give a better description I can't. But I can say OMG it was good. I strongly recommend this place, of course for dinner. But you can even make it a great night for drinks, and live music."
"Wow! It's been 10 years since I last reviewed this spot. And it is still a solid choice for a casual but fine dining experience. They've changed the menu a bit to have small, mid and large plates. I love love love the grilled Caesar salad so will almost always get that. And I got their scallops again and they were yummy. Unfortunately they were out of my dining companions first 2 choices on the Saturday night we were there. So she came up with a 3rd option. My old fashioned was great and then I had a lovely glass of bubbles to cut the richness of my super chocolate dessert.Service was great as always and now you have choices between dining inside or out on the patio which has greatly increased seating and you can make a reservation online. Definitely still a great spot for a lovely dinner."
"Amazing food (brisket, chicken wings, mardigras potato and green beans) and service...staffs were so friendly - will definitely come back."
"I finally made it over to Brigsten's for my birthday and it truly did not disappoint. Every single dish had an amazing flavor, the cocktails were great, excellent options of wine too! I have no complaints at all. Our server Ben was also very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The vibe of the place feels like you're in someone's home and I really enjoyed how each room had its own art and section. I wish the BBQ shrimp had more shrimp because YUM! It was absolutely divine. The sauce was cooked to perfection- genuinely some of the best I have ever had in the city. The pork was cooked so well & the dijon sauce was the flair it needed. The fish was excellent as well as the duck. Truly, everything was amazing here. I'd recommend this spot & will definitely be back!"
"Olive or Twist is an industrially styled restaurant featuring repurposed wood accents and pendulum light fixtures, creating a cozy yet modern ambiance. The menu boasts brunch options and an extensive spirits list, catering to a variety of tastes. While the setting was promising, my experience was a mix of highs and lows.I ordered the BBQ shrimp and stone-ground grits. While the shrimp were well-seasoned and paired with a tangy sauce, the grits left something to be desired. I prefer my grits creamy and smooth, but these were just average. On the brighter side, the side of fresh seasonal fruit was delightful and refreshing. My mother ordered the bananas foster French toast and absolutely loved it--rich, decadent, and perfectly executed. The highlight of our visit was the exceptional service. Our server was patient, attentive, and quick to refill drinks and check on us. His genuine kindness made the meal more enjoyable. As a wheelchair user, I always evaluate accessibility. Olive or Twist had a light, easy-to-open bathroom door and a spacious handicap stall, which was appreciated. However, the restroom's lack of cleanliness was a major disappointment. Stains, hair, and even mold on the toilet, along with dirty floors, made it unusable. This aspect needs immediate attention to ensure a comfortable and sanitary experience for all guests.Olive or Twist has potential with its inviting atmosphere, creative menu, and excellent service. However, the food could be more consistent, and the cleanliness of the facilities needs significant improvement. My mother enjoyed her meal, and while my experience was just "okay," the friendly service made it a bit better. With some adjustments, this restaurant could be a standout spot for brunch. For now, it's a place I'd revisit cautiously."
"The seafood oysters were on point! My partner loved the alligator bites. Situated in a nice quiet neighborhood, and should be given good recognition for its service and food."
"The food was soooo good that I forgot to take a picture! Cheeks, the waitress, was absolutely amazing! She knew her food and recommended the best! We started with the seafood spinach dip sooo good! I ordered the blackened redfish, loaded mash potatoes and Brussels sprouts. My sister had the lamb chops...OMG they were thin and well seasoned with asparagus and potatoes. My other sister ordered wings and truffle fries which were perfectly seasoned and fries were delish. I'm definitely returning the next time I'm in Nola!"
"This is one of those times I'm completely perplexed with the 3.8 mediocre Yelp rating because the bustling dining room with locals at 4:30 in the afternoon, friendly service, 2023 Gambit Award, Best of New Orleans say otherwise. Oh the nay sayers! But, thanks to my Yelp buddy, Omar, and his recommendation this is our first NOLA stop! The interior screams NOLA's rich jazz history with yearly, framed and signed Jazz Festival posters adorning the walls. The well worn restaurant and the menu speaks to a the love of Cajun cuisine found here. Kenners is a restaurant and seafood market. The array of displayed blue crab - picked, whole and shucked oysters speak to the love of seafood and the local fishing industry. As typical of hubs when he's excited about trying a unique spot, he orders a little of this and a little of that. We had a sampling of all our favorites! Our thoughts:*The tamales, Delta style, were a must for this tamale lover, were the typical cigar size and great! *The seafood Gumbo was on target with its rich dark roux color, yummy shrimp and served Cajun style with half a blue crab and white rice. *The fried shrimp were delicious, perfectly cooked with a nice crispy texture and butterflied. Oh my, just perfection! Loved the jalapeño hush puppies, too - savory not sweet. *The cup of red beans and rice was warm comfort in a cup, seasoned with sausage. *The fried crab claws were slightly over cooked and were the only disappointment. Thank you Omar for the recommendation! We'll return perhaps sooner than later Cheers!"
"As excellent for breakfast as it was last time I was here a few years ago.Crabcake Eggs Benedict with grits, yum."
"I have picked up dinner twice while working in the area. Both times I ordered the maple bourbon cornbread! And this last time I also ordered the Parisian gnocchi with crawfish it was amazing and didn't want to stop eating it reservations always recommended sign on door...it's true...they were busy!"

Joey K's is sort of the neighborhood restaurant for those of us who live in the Garden District. It's homey, has down home New Orleans food and is a great place to go for a casual lunch. The blackberry cobbler is to die for. The appetizers are big enough to eat as an entree. Great onion rings, seafood, pasta, too. They don't take reservations but have accommodated my large extended family if we call ahead and go early. I recommend it to anyone coming to shop Magazine Street.

Solid 3.5 star joint. Staff are super chill and the vibe is slightly dive bar...my kind of place. As it was close to our hotel, thought we would stop in one night for dinner. One of the football games was on so it was a good spot to sit and watch. Notes:Wings came recommended, and these were probably the best out of our entire order. If you're looking for some straightforward eats, I'd get some of these. My trio - gumbo, etouffee, red rice and beans...was just so so. Flavors were hit or miss. Definitely more food than I could eat, plus came with fried green tomatoes and a biscuit. A couple local beers on the menu plus a full bar...All in all, I wouldn't come here expecting some crazy good meal, but it's a fun spot to grab a bite.

I visited my favorite city in the world this past weekend and I'm still dreaming about the delicious meal I had. The omelette I ordered was perfection, I mean an omelette doesn't sound too exciting but this omelette was on a different level! It had crawfish, shrimp, and crab meat and the egg was perfectly fluffy, I will be dreaming about this omelette for days to come. My husband loved his chicken plate as well, and the gumbo we shared was amazing. The drinks were strong, the jazz band sounded amazing, and our waiter went above and beyond. I wish I would have gotten of his name but he was great! We had brunch on a Sunday morning and it was the perfect spot for a date. Can't wait to revisit this place!

You know you are going to have a meal worth writing about the moment you take your first bite. That is exactly how I feel about my dining experience at Boucherie. First, I was so happy to have been able to snag a table on a Saturday night pre-mother's day. The restaurant is in what might have been a home in the past. Very unassuming but once you're there, you will immediately know what the fuss is all about. I wanted a place a little farther from the busy scene so I chose Boucherie for that reason. We arrived, informed the host of our reservations and we were seated immediately on a corner table. The place was fairly quiet, had a full bar, and attentive wait staff. Our dining experience began with some smoked tuna ragoons with Louisiana strawberry dipping sauce. The smoked tuna was a little bit on the salty side but otherwise, the flavors between the sauce and the ragoons worked. For my main dish, I ordered the scallops which were divine! Very flavorful, prepared perfectly and the sauce was magnificent. I could have probably polished off another serving of it (on a different night, of course!). My meal was lovely and exquisite. My dining companion enjoyed some cocktails while I sipped on some wines for the evening. Overall, I had a wonderful and unforgettable dining experience.

For years, each time I visited New Orleans, I ate at Brigtsen's. Though I wasn't in a hurry, if it was practical, I'd dine there on the night I got into town. Starting my trip at Brigtsen's reminded me of why I was in New Orleans, and refreshed my memory of old-time menus and ingredients, and of service of a certain style.I didn't recommend Brigtsen's to everyone who asked. Some, I sent to Jack Dempsey's or Deanie's, instead. You only heard about Brigtsen's from me if I thought that you'd understand and appreciate the place. But Brigtsen's menu has grown tired, and, in a couple of recent visits, the dishes I was served seemed prepared by people* who were distracted, preoccupied by things other than prepping, cooking and presenting a pleasing meal. Also, even on a slow night, the service at Brigtsen's was rote and rushed, and left me wondering if, simply by being there, I'd imposed on the staff. These dinners weren't bad; they just weren't what meals at Brigtsen's should have been, and used reliably to be.But it's not all disappointment.I've discovered that Gabrielle Restaurant offers the experience I missed at Brigtsen's, which gives me a suitable alternative: I'll dine at Gabrielle, and check in on Brigtsen's once in a while, to see if things there improve.* An exception: "afters" prepared by pastry chef Samantha Price were textural marvels, flavor-packed creations that should have been heavier than they were. Sadly, Chef Price is gone from Brigtsen's; I hope she's doing well and is still knocking out killer desserts.

It's a great place to sit down and have drinks, but no matter what time of day, they are out of half of what is on their menu.

Hidden gem in mid city! Here for work trip and my friend decided to take me out. Y'all this place is def a hit! The crawfish so big and juicy. Very flavorful. The boudin bites was so good. Fresh out the pan. Sooo soo good! I def recommend y'all checking this place out!! The set up was kinda different. Like you have to order and pay then pick a table. Idk maybe it's just me. But the food made up for it!! Plenty of places to sit! They have a full bar. I was looking at all the entrees coming out. I will def be back to try those. I'm a tipper but I did t really like tipping and we didn't real get any waiter service. Just people running around dropping off food. We had to ask for papers towels and has to get our own water. But again the food made up for lack of service

"We came to this location for the happy hour deals on the oysters and had a really great time! $1 oysters or $1.50 chargrilled oysters. The food here is very delicious, the rooftop area is very nice overlooking the water, and the service is excellent. We tried the bread pudding and it was also very good."
"Great service and delicious food! We had the specials of the day which were cajun arancini and a New York Strip with seafood beignets and mashed potatoes. Not pictured is the salted caramel brownie with ice cream which was also divine."
"Had grilled chicken and fries for a late lunch . Food was really good . There was a live band playing outside ."
"Glad we found this restaurant online as we were driving to Baton Rouge. We only had 30 minutes so we called ahead and the food was ready when we arrived.Ate, it was good. A perfect stop along our cross country road trip. Jambalaya was my favorite. But all seemed to be missing some flavor so the hot sauce was a must. Overall enjoyed it! Wish they had okra"
"My favorite BBQ in Baton Rouge! We usually pick up some pulled pork or brisket from here if we are bringing food for a potluck. Their brisket grilled cheese and brisket quesadillas are what I rotate between when I go. Seating is limited, and they also have a window you can walk up to and pick up to go orders."
"Westbank Grill is the perfect stop for something quick and tasty. The server was friendly and attentive. What's my favorite dish to order? The onion rings! I don't know what it is about them, but I get them each and every time.Until next time..."
"This restaurant inconsistently good. Their brisket is excellent,as is the smoked chicken and pulled pork today I was unimpressed with my dinner however. I ordered their bbq spaghetti for takeout. It turned out to be a relatively small portion of Spaghetti drowned in sauce and pull pork and some chicken. The sauce overwhelmed everything on the plate I like bbq sauce to a degree but this was way too much for such a small portion of pasta I did not finish. However this restaurant is a great bbq spot an I would highly recommend it to friends and family! Ju BBQ Spaghetti their catfish poboy is surprisingly good"
"All was great food service and ambience as they say my favorite restaurant is New Orleans."
"My mom and I stopped in yesterday for a quick lunch! Cafe Americain has always been a hidden gem in Baton Rouge. It's tucked away on Jefferson in a small shopping center. We ordered some of the best crab and broccoli soup you'll ever have along with an order of sweet potato hush puppies. OMG. It's the best comfort food on a cold or warm day. Definitely try them out and they have specials throughout the week!"
"Why would you eat redfish anywhere else?? Don't. The redfish dish here is so perfectly prepared that it makes me annoyed with myself when I order it anywhere else.Beyond the food, this lovely restaurant located inside Renaissance Baton Rouge has lovely bartending staff with a shoutout to Shawna and Damon who will make you feel appreciated and right at home."
"In from out of town, and I love me some homemade biscuits.. we started with bloody Mary's. Each loaded with a celery spear, pickled okra and green bean. Made with Tony C's mix and it was good! We sat at the bar so full service at our fingertips. I could tell this place gets busy so we went early at 9am!I needed a salad so I got the fried green tomatoes topped with jumbo lump crab and remoulade nestled on spring mix! Very very good! My hubby got the Catahoula, a fried chicken on a fluffy biscuit, and the crawfish cornbread! It was as good as I could hope for! The remoulade was light, tangy with plenty of lemon. Perfectly dressed for the salad greens. The cornbread with crawfish etouffee was also a standout.. Go there. Get some. Life is too short for boring food!"
"I saw a few social media videos advertising Yakamein House, so I had to add it to my dining itinerary for my NOLA visit. There were a ton of options on the menu, and I finally chose the shrimp, beef, and chicken bowl. You get a lot of food per portion size, definitely enough to share or save for another meal. All the flavors worked so well together. There were tons of meat included in the dish and I appreciate that my boiled egg was cooked hard with no runny yolk. I enjoyed my bowl so much, I visited Yakamein House a second time before I left the city. This would definitely be my go to restaurant if I lived in NOLA."
"So I ran across this local gem and how lucky was I. Good food and nice people at reasonable prices. Now that's tough to beat. My first visit I was lucky enough to meet both of the owners. How nice was that? I had the fried catfish and shrimp platter and the Friday seafood gumbo. The platter was very good but the gumbo was exceptional. I was craving spaghetti & meatballs for some reason. Maybe it was the 2 week food binge I had been on after not being in N.O. for 44 years. So I remembered seeing on this menu. What I got was a steaming plate of nice hot noodles 2 huge meatballs in a very nice sauce. It couldn't have been better.I was so surprised how you enjoyed the meatballs I stopped by a couple of days later and got a meatball po boy. Sorry, no picture. I ate it to fast. I only wish I was a local."
"Always an awesome delight coming here. The fried ribs is a show stopper. Unexpectedly tender, not sure how a rib can be this tender but I'll take it. The Rum punch is a nice pairing for the ribs. Between the seafood baked potato loaded and the punch, I'm taking a nap for sure after this!"
"Wow.The building this restaurant resides in was quickly earning a spot on Lafayette's "cursed business list". In the short time that I've lived in this town, it's been 3 different restaurants. This place seems to be the winner of the three and as long as it keeps up. It'll probably make it.The gumbo is fantastic, the owner is amazing, the owners son is a gem, and the place is a hometown destination. This is the place to go if you want that "pawpaws gumbo" taste!"
"Making a gumbo is a labor of love but also, kind of a pain in the ass. It's delicious when you're done, but it's chopping, stirring, skimming, for 8 hours before you get to the end result. So much time! Next time, go to Rice and Roux and get a quart of it and CALL IT A DAY. Their prices are great, the gumbo AND potato salad is delicious AND THEY HAVE A DRIVE THRU. They couldn't make it any easier. Our go to is a quart and a half of the seafood gumbo with a medium potato salad. The seafood gumbo is the perfect consistency with a good mix of shrimp and crabmeat, Enough for 3 generous servings. Perfect for our phantom cold days in Louisiana!Go check them out ASAP y'all!"
"When I find hidden gems like Stella's Kitchen, it makes me appreciate my drive time for work so much more. It's located in a small, rundown looking building off Highway 1; if it wasn't for GPS, you'd easily miss it. The interior is beautiful though. Smells amazing (not sure if that was the candles for sale or the food). Very classy feel to it as soon as you walk in though. I decided to order the almond encrusted duck (appetizer) to go per a yelpers mouth-watering pic of it, and I'm so glad I did! It was scrumptious! The wait once I ordered was almost 30 minutes, so I definitely advise to call and order ahead. 10 people seating and 1 to go order that came before me. I was surprised to see a customer bring his pup in, but I guess I should have known based on all the pup pics on the walls here! Just wish it was closer to BR as I don't come this way very often!"
"My husband and I are frequently going here. The staff is great and follow Covid precautions always. We ordered food today and I can't tell you enough how great it was. We ordered the large cheeseburger with everything and a philly cheese steak poboy. OMG it's one of the best we've had of each. The poboy was a little greasy but the taste made up for it. We ordered prior to going and was ready when my husband arrived. I encourage y'all to try the food. Oh, I heard their breakfast is also great and a great price.Sorry it was eaten on, lol. Couldn't help it."
"Great service with a smile, solid red beans, and yummy blackened fish. Left full and happy! Thanks!"
"Bbq chicken special can't be beat. Ribs were a lil dry but the sauce was great. Macaroni was different but good--tasted a lil like nacho cheese and had an interesting spice. Will be back. Worth the trip."
"The food was great. Considering it took 10 minutes for the drive alone to get to my hotel, the catfish & fried okra held up well. It was still a bit crunchy & not oily at all. I like the flavor of the potato salad. It was tangy & sweet, just the way I like it. I'm not sure if it was the catfish or okra, maybe both, has a bit of spicy bite in it. Love it!"
"Lovely local spot. Service is spectacular. Food is fresh & delicious with daily tweaks to the menu. Portions are filling but not too much (great before a night out on the town). Reservations are almost always needed but there is full dinner service at the bar."
"Elevated local food favorites in a relaxed atmosphere with attention to details in service and ambiance! This place is always packed but seating does not take long. Greeters were friendly! Food was unbelievable and we ordered way too much food but it's New Orleans! Why not!?! The stars for me were the Louisiana Cochon, which was served over a bed of collard greens with this special sauce. We also loved the fried chicken liver served with a sweet vinaigrette jam on toast. I look forward to trying the rabbit and dumplings on my next trip."
