"When you're in New Orleans, be sure to hit up the person behind the front desk at your hotel at least once after check-in and before check-out to ask what the best place to grab a snowball (Sno-ball? Up in the air...) is.And if you're lucky, there will be two people behind the front desk, so they can have a fierce debate about it. My decision was made after hearing that Hansen's gave you a souvenir cup with your sno-ball.It was 90+ degrees the entire time we were in NOLA. Without taking the humidity into consideration. So it came as no surprise that the first thing our Uber driver said to us was "Hansen's? I could really use a sno-ball today too!" (We invited her to join us but she declined because of the sugar content. Which... fair.)Plan and time your visit well. Hansen's is a little out of the way and is guaranteed to have a line. I found myself awkwardly craning my neck at times to catch the shade. It's a tiny mom-and-pop place (it's been in the Hansen family for three generations) and the fans inside won't do much to cool you down until you take your first bite of a sno-ball.It tastes nothing like shaved ice. The texture is softer -- truly snowlike. I got satsuma (a tart citrusy flavor that you'll find on the menu of many NOLA institutions, whether edible or in candle form) and cream of earl grey. I could barely taste the earl grey, so I think I should've gotten another flavor, but the satsuma was heavenly."

"Awww man they've got something great over here. The Koran BBQ chicken sandwich is truly top tier deliciousness. Wasn't to crowded inside and the plexiglass around each booth, along with sanitizer and signs to wear a mask were great covid touches. Back to the sandwich it wasn't a large chicken sandwiches but sized pretty ok. Everything of course is a-la-cart I got the fries with the special Koran sauce. It tasted ok. I know this sandwich is probably a limited time offer so I will be going back soon to get another one!"

"A nice little surprise tucked away on Magazine St. nestled in blue and white it is a beacon in the summer heat. They usually have vinyl spinning and the staff has always been friendly. Note: they prefer cash but accept cards. Every flavor I have tried I have liked. They are a fresh ingredient shop. So no neon green mint chocolate chip here. It is light with a strong mint floral flavor studded with chocolate chips. Their seasonal flavors are good as well. But do yourself and your stomach a solid and only get the small single scoop. Your tummy will thank you later."

I drove there and they had already told me what they wanted to eat, Salted Butter Carmel and Brownie Nutella. I went for the old tried and true, cookies and cream. Location is off of St Charles, across from Mae's. Cute little shop with seating. The ice cream was outrageous, very smooth, not heavy or too sweet. I would recommend stopping by and trying it out."

"I must submit, I believe I have a new favorite snowball stand in the Gentilly area. STOP JOCKIN!!! I do love the name... it's a little old school, but catchy. I pass this snowball stand all the time hopping onto the 610 interstate and when I wanted to stop in they were closed. But I see now, they have more consistent hours now. The food is good. Great price. Great taste. Snowballs are extraordinary. Great price. Excellent taste. The ice is so soft in your mouth. It just literally melts in your mouth. I saw a lady coming by for snowballs no syrup, that ice only... Proof positive that people like the ice here. The flavors are off the chain. I never had a dry snowball from here, sounds like an oxymoron, but it happens. They've always been succulent, moist, juicy and very flavorful. I've also had the pleasant opportunity to purchase food from this establishment. The food is processed really quickly, and as I stated previously, the taste is good. And I while I've not had everything on the menu, the things that I have had have all been tasty and fair in pricing. The cups are thick styrofoam, I never had to worry about puncturing the bottom of the snowball, nor did I have to worry about the sides being so flimsy that they broke once I grabbed these cups. I've been here more than a few times and I must admit the lines will form quickly, however the staff are quick with reducing the line and processing orders. I am unsure if this location stays open year-round, but as it stands now I plan to visit them daily until I find out otherwise."

"As a Yelper for years now, I think my fellow Elites would agree with me when I say that we don't consider ourselves food experts but that we utilize this platform to not only help support local businesses but bring awareness to gems around the cities for our fellow foodies. My excitement as I walked in was quickly derailed by a dark haired employee behind the counter when I said, "Let me YELP! this place, it's so cute!!" as it was met with an eye roll and a sarcastic smirk. No clue why and he obviously was also not very happy to greet me as I asked to taste the Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream. I was afraid to even ask but another gentleman behind the counter met me with a smile, it was like night and day. I asked to taste the Sea Salt from him but I wanted to get out of there ASAP. After reading through their business page, it looks like there's been a trend of one individual that's just not very happy to greet customers consistently through the years, which is sad to see because I heard about how my father-in-law has been going there for over 30 years. My experience was uncomfortable but I will say that the ice cream is delicious. It's a beautiful shop with a little patio area to enjoy your ice cream with family and friends. I would absolutely recommend the ice cream and absolutely push to support local businesses, especially in such a tiny town like Houma. This is a true gem within what looks like a "forgotten little city" but would absolutely WARN you as you may possibly be greeted with disrespect. I made sure to take a picture of everything despite my experience because of the very kind man that later served us."

Maybe, let's call it a man crush and keep down confusion. That said the guy in the window is 3 for 3 on suggestions from the Menu. Very knowledgeable and friendly. The Hot Sausage Po-Boy was served on Dong Phuong French bread. What's that you ask? Only, possibly the best all around Bakery in the city. Yes, they are that good. Don't believe me, check out how many times I've checked in there. Enough said. The wings are very good and cooked to order. A little spicy is just what it needed and they filled the order perfectly. 3rd time was the cheese burger which again, outstanding. The prices are very reasonable and the amount of food is more than generous. I can see me here again. SOOOOONNN."

"Baby's was one of my fav culinary experiences on my latest trip to Nola. We had the chicken wings, yakamein, and snowballs. The lemon pepper chicken wings were so juicy and perfectly cooked. The seasoning on them left you wanting more. So much so that we went back after our trip to city park! We tried most flavors but the Cajun ranch was sold out for the day. The barbecue wings were great as well. The yakamein was my first time having it, and particularly nice as the first thing I'd eaten after a night out drinking. I went in the afternoon, and it look a pretty decent amount of time to get my bowl (about 20-30 min from the time I entered to when I was handed my bowl). However, I know they're new and probably working out the kinks. Also, the paper menus don't correctly correspond with the menu being projected on the screens. I ordered the Dragon Bowl, and the menu being projected says it comes topped with Chocolate Sauce while the paper menu said it was topped with honey. When I asked for honey and was confused with what topping the bowl came with, the staff did not seem to understand what I was saying.Additionally, I know these bowls are projected as being "healthy," but a lot of them contain frozen yogurt, chocolate sauce, or juices. My bowl was a little too sweet for a meal--but for a snack, this could be a good place!"

They are the sweetest people ever. They also have the most unique flavors. One time I went in and got a peach flavor (which I've never had before) and it was amazing! These last couple of times, they have had this cherry amaretto flavor and it gives me LIFE! I'm never disappointed when I get the itch to go in here for something sweet. Ted's is wonderful."

"This was a random find. Discovered on my way somewhere else. They sell protein shakes and loaded teas. The loaded teas are basically full of vitamins and stuff. They seem very knowledgeable about metabolism and weight management. I did get a tea because I was curious. One of the tea specialists (what I'm choosing to call them) made me a tea. It was red, white, and blue until I mixed it up. It tasted like berries maybe. It definitely did it's job of keeping me alert and with no coffee jitters. That was surprising. The people are very friendly. The only reason I didn't give 5 starts is because there's no fresh fruit in the teas. Personally I'd prefer fresh fruit blended in. But their teas are very good. "It's only a matter of time before these ubiquitous frozen yogurt establishments (both the national chains and the locals) implode on one another as the fad goes its course. Maybe the strong will survive four years from now, but does anyone even get nostalgic for the days when TCBY was all over the place? Does it even matter to most people that they still exist?I guess some are better than others, but I can't help but feel that the real strength of this iteration of Fro-Yo is the quality of the toppings, which often does involve fresh fruit or homemade cookies. The yogurt itself is nearly always forgettable--literally. I often can't distinguish what I placed in the cup over the superior flavor of those toppings.That said, Zack's doesn't really stand on its own at all. Flavors aren't creative and (big minus) you don't get to serve yourself or even add the toppings. Everything is done for you, and the counter is presented in such a way that it's hard even to see the toppings available. (Zack's provides a sign instead.) But I did catch a quick glimpse and I could tell that someone of those fruits were (gasp) prepared and (shock) probably even canned! At least the pineapple had that wedge shape that's a dead giveaway. And half of the fruits on the sign weren't even available.It tasted alright, but with a billion competitors out there, what is going to keep this place around in six months--let alone four years?"

The have floats, snowballs, sundaes, snacks, chicken fingers, fried food, etc. There is parking in front of the building next door on the corner.My friend's daughter had a strawberry cheesecake flavored snowball with ice cream on top and it was delicious; no fake fruit flavoring at all. I had the banana chocolate/caramel sundae and it was everything I remember in a sundae from childhood. The caramel was the perfect creamy consistency and the chocolate fudge stayed warm and liquid even on the cold ice cream."

I come here every time I come to New Orleans. My family would walk here all the time when I was growing up. I come back to see if my photo is still on the wall. Photo circa 2004, following a haircut I gave to myself. Upon reflection, the photo wall gives me the vibe of "These are the kids we don't know if they made it out of Katrina." Just put me on a milk carton, I guess.They have a great ice cream selection. My dad and I would always split a Sundae, I have fond memories of him always letting me have the cherry on top.
