Deverika G. "This was the best little find! We needed a quick bite before heading to a wedding because well, you aren't really sure how good wedding food is gonna be no matter how good the blissful couple's intentions are!! It was their wedding but also our baecation so we needed it to be QUICK AND GOOD! We called 10-15 min out and ordered a fried shrimp po boy all the way with the fixings except no hot peppers. Id done my research so i knew a whole would be plenty for he and I. We arrive and its the cutest little spot. It was mid Monday afternoon and parking was easy but definitely limited around the shop itself but plenty of street parking in surrounding area and its near a college/university as well. Walking the shop they have EVERYTHING you could want with your sandwich from bottled can drinks both non and alcoholic and snacks GALORE! One thing I had been doing is collecting little LA specific goodies as we visited different gas stations or stores in our time in Lafayette. They had fried hand pies and ginger cakes. Those were dessert for what was one of THE best po boys Ive ever had! The shrimp were plentiful, plump, perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. The bread was soft and the toppings fresh! Maybe a lil creole mustard would have taken it up a notch but it was solid and a LOT of sandwich for the price! We added a bag of Doritos cook ranch and some drinks and life was swell! Definitely if you want to try a po boy this is a solid spot. They have a fried catfish po boy they only offer on Fridays we would have loved that one, especially if the batter is the same as what it was for the fish. Sorry no pictures to share, half of it didnt make it to the hotel and the other I was tight on time to consume and still get ready in time for the wedding. Bon a petit'!"

Taylor T. "The food, sweets, and service are good here, but be warned the sandwiches are small for the price. I came here in a pinch. I assumed a $13 sandwich would be about 10" with trimmings. It's just regular bread and there's no pickle on the side. It's about 6" and pretty thin. However, the ingredients are good. The apps are good, especially the latkes, but they are also a little pricey for what you get. Overall, I only recommend eating here if you eat kosher and want specific foods or have more expendable income than me because the price is high."

Paula C. "Hank's pulled through for late night delivery when another place cancelled our order an hour passed the time that it was placed!I got the fried shrimp po boy and there were big, juicy, seasoned shrimp in every bite. The lettuce, tomato and mayo only created a fresh and creamy bed for the shrimps but did not take away from the main feature of the sandwich. The bread itself was also substantial and did it's job to tuck in the fried shrimp goodness.Definitely consider Hank's for your late night order."

Lucy M. "The first time I came in my brain couldn't make sense of this place. It looks like a house, but I found it online by searching for a grocery store. They didn't have much in the way of grocery items. No produce, in fact the shelves were half empty, but there was an entire wall dedicated to t-shirts and hats? And then there was a kitchen in the back...with po boys? Yes, po boys. This ended up being the last thing I ate on a flight out of the city. I always try to grab a little something for the plane ride, and in a rush ordered the shrimp po boy, not knowing the amazing quality of the meal I was about to enjoy miles in the sky. Damn. I wish I had more to say, I know this is one of my favorite po boys in the city (right up there with Verti Marte). The fry on that shrimp was so perfectly textured and seasoned, I miss this sandwich so much. They also serve breakfast, fried chicken, and Chinese food."

Jackie D. "I've been wanting to try this place out for lunch and I'm glad I finally did! The $5 lunch special is a great deal - a quarter muffuletta (that you can get pressed!) and a large serving of their pasta salad. I love a hot muffuletta so this was great with the crispy bread, loads of meat and briny olive salad. The pasta salad has a similar olive salad along with a little Italian cheese and olive oil. It was a nice accompaniment to the crispy sandwich! While I was waiting, I perused the store and I can't wait to come back for some of their interesting ingredients and prepared foods. This is a cute little neighborhood gem Italian market that should not be missed!"

Preston B. "Half a decade ago, before the food truck rage, before specialty burger spots began popping up around Baton Rouge, the LSU region's option for a greasy burger fix came down to two places: one at Northgate and one at Southgate. For years Roul's has garnered the love of the Tigers for it's Juicy Juicy. For those of us who live on the Southside, there is only Akasha. It has been an institution for nearly a decade. Need kegs, hookah, cheap wine, and a one pound burger. Akasha has got you. I haven't stepped inside a Tigerland bar in years, but if LSU has an initiation beyond Saturday Night in Death Valley, it is soaking up blue test tube shots and beer with the nice booze mop that is an Akasha cheeseburger combo. And they have a mystery garlicy, pepper secret sauce. Their hours run late, until 4am on the weekends. Their selection of alcohol can please any crowd and their grill is always open. As are the perpetually rotating spits of gyro and chicken shawarma. Treat yo self"

Humberto A. "Heard about this place and wanted to give it a shot. Called in and ordered me a Fried Chicken platter with Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and it also comes with an option of a roll or corn bread I chose the corn bread. The food was really good what I do like about it it's that it felt like something you cook at home. The chicken was so moist and delicious the sides were on point and the corn bread was super good for what I have tried in town. They do have different lunch options every day and I love the fact that menu option on Yelp it's pretty self explanatory. When I got there I was a little bit in awe because I wasn't expecting this place to be located kinda in a neighborhood but I guess it adds to its charm. Will definitely recommend and hope you like it as much as me."

Michele N. "Ya know the saying, "don't judge a book by its cover." Well that applies to this little hidden spot in the middle of Estelle neighborhood. I've drove by this place numerous times and decided to place a pick up order one evening. The lady on the phone was nice and even offer to make the ham and cheese poboy hot. It usually comes cold. The taste was a little too salty, but probably from the ham. I ordered a shrimp poboy with extra crispy fries. It was all pretty good! The bread was soft with a touch of crispiness on the outside. The fries was extra crispy per my request. They definitely overstuff the poboys! Well worth the money. From what my bf said, the inside was pretty clean and cashier was friendly!"

DD D. "Driving by on a Friday evening, I saw a sign here that advertised a Friday special for a fish plate special for $7.99. I went in and found this hidden treasure in Harahan. There are so many options to choose from.. They have sandwiches, seafood platters, and Asian cuisine to name a few things on the menu. They also serve breakfast (pancakes, grits, etc.) Duly noted for my next visit. Lol.I stuck with the special for the day. The food was cooked to order and was piping hot. I got eight pieces of medium sized fish. This was more than enough,, so I got leftovers (yay). The fish was seasoned well and the fries were evenly salted and hot. The wait time was about 10 to 15 minutes, which isn't bad. They have minimal seating inside. But no worries there; they have outdoor seating also. Though it's not that appealing esthetically outside, don't let that stop you from trying the food here. It's pretty good. I was very satisfied."

The pictures looked really good and they were not deceiving the young lady who took our order went back and after 15 minutes came back with the best convenience store Poboy that we've ever tasted this was a great option especially since it was the only option but I would definitely come back again to get another if I'm in the area."

Steve I. "This small latin grocery has most of the typical items found in other latin grocery stores. They have a few different peppers including mild pablanos, jalapenos, and the hotter serrano peppers. Tomatillos can also be had here. But of course no mexican or latin grocery would be complete without an aisle full of Goya products. They got you covered here on that end too. Basically it has a nice variety of items to choose from just on a smaller scale from big latin supermarkets. You can also get your prepaid phone here because why wouldn't you get your next phone/plan from the grocery store? The reason I come here, though, is to view the eye candy that comes through the store. So serious!!"

Mina G. "I've been coming here since 1980, so 45-plus years. At first, I didn't care for the olive spread, but that changed quickly enough when I started to drink wine and realized that olives and wine are beautiful together, a perfect marriage. The service has always been fast because they know we are coming for that bomb, Muffuletta, which they remodeled after Katrina. I swear it looks a little more modern than it used to, but it still retains the old wood and the old ambiance.I have had many Muffuletta's over the years, but the original is and will always be THEE BEST from here by a local Charlie Andrews, aNew Orleans native Charlie Andrews shows how to make a New Orleans Muffuletta. This sandwich originated in New Orleans, but the bread called Muffuletta has its origins in Sicily. The sandwich consists of an 8-inch round Sicilian Sesame seed loaf layered with Olive salad. Meats like Salami, Ham, and Mortadella and cheeses like Provolone and Swiss are also added. This sandwich serves about 2 to 4 people, and it is delicious. I hope you all will give this historic sandwich a try.Central Grocery Website(They also ship their Muffuletta's)https://centralgrocery...Official Website for all recipes: https://[email protected], my friends SYOY 02/15/25 review #362"
