"I'll be honest, my medium-rare steak was overcooked and somehow dry, although still pink in the center. My husband's French toast was made with wheat bread, which was unexpected and definitely not the preference. It made the toast fall flat, though he said it was still tasty and made well. Just wished it wasn't wheat. It's typical diner food. Nothing fancy, but solid. Maybe we didn't love-love our dishes that day, but it wasn't all bad. I enjoyed the seafood gumbo and mashed potatoes, and I loved the gravy. We had a wonderful experience overall. Service was excellent from the moment we walked in. Everyone we spoke to was warm and gracious. Our server was wonderful! We loved their homemade salad dressings, so she made a way for us to buy some to take home. We could easily be regulars here!"

"Great breakfast! Our first time there and would definitely recommend for breakfast. We were in town for a couple of hours and just got done with our appointment and it was still breakfast time. It was recommended to us so we decided to try. The ambience and setting was reminiscent of the old school diner look and feel. Our server was very friendly and our food was delivered expeditiously, which surprised us because they were extremely busy. Gotta try when in Broussard, LA."

"How much do I like Dot's Diner?When I visit New Orleans, I'm often a guest of Harrah's Casino, who provide me with transportation between their property and the airport in Kenner. More than once, on my way out of town, I've paid my driver a substantial tip to stop at Dot's on Williams Blvd. before we reached MSY, so I could enjoy an unplanned one-more-last-good-meal.Eggs, pancakes, breakfast meats and good coffee are obvious choices, but Dot's does more: their kitchen, which I suspect it haunted by someone's cher tante, turns out home-style Southeastern Louisiana fare that stands with the best such dishes served in da Parish.Is Dot's in Kenner convenient? Not unless you're already in the area. Is it fast? Depends on the day, and time of day. But Dot's food is very good, and it's inexpensive, even when you add in the monster tip required to convince your driver to abandon his schedule. There's value in those things."

"Well, I gotta imagine that this place was the bomb back in the 80s. The décor, imagine a kinda groovy ski lodge looking place. A long narrow, two floored club with wall to wall carpeting. A lot like the old Don Carter's bowling lanes had. Kinda puffy looking in there with a disco kinda vibe. Now fast forward to 2013... musty flattened carpets. Most light fixtures no longer work and ceiling tiles and other tapestries and missing, sagging or piled up in the corner like an old barber shop.The bar and bartender are much the same way. Nice person, fast and friendly but it just feels off in there. Like a alternate reality thing happened in here.They are known for the food, but mostly the main thing they can do well is cheese fries. That is why we had stumbled in there that night. Cheese fries and just change of scenery. Things were going really well till one of our female friends noticed a Algiers sized flying type cockroach running along the floor and another coming from the cooking station. Check please!I do suggest check it out and see if you can see how this place was probably , well I do know for a fact it was the bomb in the late 80s, but saddened that it isn't anymore."

"This place is perfect. First of all it passed the trifecta (ambience, service and food) with flying colors. We are so excited to have found this place and it's with full confidence that I'm saying we will be regulars.I had built this place up quite a bit. First, I'd heard the food and the owner/chef was exceptional. Then I looked at the photos of the outdoor dining area. Yeah, ummm...sold.So we arrive a little before opening time (10am) and wait in the parking lot like all normal people do when they are excited, right? Or is that just me? Whatever, don't judge. We walk in and start exploring the area. It's just so charming. Huge oak trees, bird baths, and even a koi pond. Bamboo lined the fence and you feel like you're in your friends back yard. That feeling doesn't go away once you're greeted by the sweet waitress who gives us the deets on when and where to place our orders, delighted us by feeding the koi and pointed us in the direction of the restrooms. Nor did it stop while ordering. We were able to chat with Chef Lonnie who described a little of his passion and talked with us about local cuisine. Everyone here was so nice! I went with the Delcambre BLT which was grilled shrimp, sautéed onions, bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, tabasco mayo and creole mustard on a croissant. Can I just say that #1 YOU HAD ME A TABASCO MAYO (seriously-tabasco mayo is the greatest thing ever invented and now you're adding creole mustard to it?? Uh, want to get married?) And #2 this sandwich was the bee's knees. It was perfectly executed...from the perfectly grilled onions to the jumbo (and butterflied...hello!) shrimp. I simply loved it. It came with hand cut fries that were very good but the sandwich stole the show. We also received a free dessert since it was our first visit (and they loved us:) and it was bread pudding and a damn good bread pudding it was. We will be back and you should go too! In fact, what are you doing tonight?"

I liked it so much that I came back all 4 days that I was staying in Covington.I will be back when I return to the area."

"Across from the Washington parish fair is a very friendly and welcoming drive in. While we scanned the menu the waiter took her time to go over the menu with us and give us a bit of insight on some of the local favorites. You have the option to order at the window or go in and have a seat. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger with its chili cheese fries, chicken fries and a shrimp plate that comes with 12 shrimp each plate. We spent $37 ! For all of this food, they all came with drinks and fires and were freshly made. The chili cheese fries came loaded with house made chili and shredded cheese. The fries are a meal on their own. The shrimp plate was good the shrimp were fried a bit harder than were used to but still very good. You receive a lot of food with your order we had so many French fries ! The burger was amazing it was the star of the meal. All in all we enjoyed our meal and would surely return if ever in the area again ."

"First time in Louisiana, New Orleans. This cute little spot came highly recommended from my partner's mom so here we are.The diner is 60's themed: cozy, quaint, retro ambiance. Menu offers a variety of breakfast items, sandwiches, and burgers.I got the Seafood Omelet and oh my gods is this thing MASSIVE, and packed with flavors! It had fried shrimp, mushrooms and crayfish meat in a gray gravy Julie, I choose hash browns and biscuits for my side (Waitress recommended the biscuit) those are the best biscuits I ever had!Highly recommend, we don't get food like this in the desert so this was such a joy to experience, Thank you so much!"

Every single dish we ordered was outstanding ... the octopus carpaccio, brisket bao, Grilled oysters with chorizo, Birria lamb shank , peppercorn stake . Just succulent! "Impeccable service, but very average sushi! It's not a bad thing, so Kyoto may still be worth giving a try. I had the Funky Margarita Roll and it was average...there really isn't much more to say. From reading the description, I expected a flavor explosion but the guacamole on top felt and tasted weird in my mouth. The other guest had the Beef Teriyaki. It was cooked fine (as far as texture and execution) but needed more seasoning overall. I'm glad that I finally got to try Kyoto 2 but don't think I'll be returning."

"RiverFront is one of the best places to eat it the Abbeville area. Like it's name suggests, it is situated on the west bank of the Vermilion River. The name might also lead you to assume that they have great seafood, and you would be correct there as well!The RiverFront is located in a new spacious facility with both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoors is decorated with charming wooden sculptures of birds, fish, alligators, and more. The waitstaff are friendly and helpful, and will whisk you off to your seating. If you ask for a table in the back, you can watch the River roll by as you dine.The menu includes everything one would expect in Cajun country. You have beautifully stuffed Po-Boys, soups, salads, seafoods, steaks, and Cajun home style favorites. I usually just ask for the special, as it's always great.Most dishes come with two sides of your choice, so you can go hearty or healthy as you wish. Some of my favorite entrees are the crab cakes, seafood trinity, and hamburger streak (I am a simple man). Prices are moderate, so you can enjoy without guilt."

Driving in to the heart of Donaldsonville I happened to look to my left and saw the named painted LARGE on the backside of the building and thought to myself "If I'm still here come lunch that's where I'm eating"Sure enough I'm still in town around lunch time and being hungry I headed to this place...Mom & Pop joint, too good to be a dive but not good enough to be fancy...you walk in this joint and you just sense you gonna get a good meal for a reasonable price.... That's exactly what I got! They have a full bar separated from the eating section by a lattice wall.... sturdy diner tables with sturdy diner chairs fill the place.... lots of Ascension Parish memorabilia mixed with LSU items hanging on the wall....Nice menu filled with home cooking and seafood plus burgers and poboys... Prices are reasonable...The specials on 1/23/15 were Shrimp stew served over potato salad or fried catfish plate.... went with the catfish since I hadn't had any in awhile....It was an excellent choice! Fresh fillets, golden brown, fresh out of the greasel....DELICIOUS! But you gotta have good tartar sauce and they had it, great flavor with a little spice.... it was a great meal!!Service was excellent and the owners were real friendly.... need a quick filling meal then give this place a try.... it's got my recommendation!"

As a gluten free vegetarian I ordered the olive appetizers and fried cheese to get a little bit of everything! The falafel, grape leaves, and halloumi, are gluten free without the pita. I simply asked for some cucumbers on the side to dip into things! I loved the salty pickles that came with the fried cheese- they paired so nicely with the super crunchy and flavorful falafel. The cheese itself was salty and crispy, however did not stand out to me. The Turkish coffee and mango drink were both tasty; I was really impressed with the coffee and how strong but not bitter it was- this is a must try if you haven't had it before."

"As recent guests at The Southern Hotel in Covington, LA we visited the lounge. We were a part of one of the three events being celebrated at the hotel that Saturday evening. The place was packed, to say the least. Melissa Thrash, bartender, and Christopher Walker, manager, made my husband and I feel like we were the only customers. They showed genuine interest in our travels and they were always patient when talking with us. They also shared information on drinks to try. We were at the lounge for several hours and the fantastic customer service did not lessen. Go visit Melissa and Chris. I am positive you will have a similar experience."
