Bonafried

Holy Moly! As a born and bred South Georgia girl ( not really a girl anymore, lol) I know chicken. Or I thought I did. So when I say that this is without a doubt the best dang chicken sandwich on the planet, you can take that info to the BANK! My daughter Anna insisted we go there first thing as we attended the New Orleans Fried Chicken Festival and although we had some great dishes, this was just spectacular! Now have I ever called a chicken sandwich spectacular? Not once and I have had some really good ones in my lifetime.I just know when I win the lottery ( and I am lucky!) these will be the first folks I invest in. So if you want your tastebuds to be dancing all day, just go. I'm not normally this excited about something, but they have it going on!

Super friendly and great portions and flavors for an awesome price. I hope them all the best, it always makes me happy when they swing by work and I know I can get a good chicken sandwich for not too much! You have to try their fries next time you see them, they are always nice and crispy and well seasoned!

Ok ok ok if you ever see these guys please get ya self a sandwich!!! I tried them for the first time this past Sunday at the Fried Chicken Festival. I ordered the hot one. When I tell you I ate it in like 2 minutes... it was so delicious and spicy! Can't wait to try their other items.

So my employer treated us to a food truck rally and I thought what better time to try something new than on someone else's dime. Considering I'm risk averse, this was the perfect time.I had a choice of the Southern (honey glaze and pickle), the Special (sweet and spicy), and TN Hot, which was hot. I chose the Southern, which came with what looked like two big ole chicken thighs on a toasted bun and fries. The chicken was delicious!! Crispy, moist and well seasoned. I would've like more of the glaze though. It was way too much chicken, however. I know, I shouldn't complain, huh? I don't know if it was the normal serving size, but I took one thigh off. I'll finish it another day. I added mayo as the sandwich was screaming for it. The fries were nicely salted, hot and crispy. The cook/server was friendly and professional, but they could've done a better job managing expectations. Half the employees chose this food truck and I had waited in line for an hour. I ordered the second to last sandwich because they had run out of chicken. There were at least 10 people behind me. In a sense that's a testament to how popular the food is.

Since the Fried Chicken Sandwich Wars of 2019 occurred, I figured I should write an update. I prefer Bonafried over both Chick-fil-A and Southerns. For me, it's a toss-up between Bonafried and Popeyes for #1. Unfortunately Bonafried is very sporadic in their appearances/lunch services, which can be frustrating if you get a craving.

Last week I brought my lunch to work, but something greater was calling me. And it wasn't the lobster mac in my lunch bag.I was really craving a fried chicken sandwich. And it just so happens that the Bonafried food truck was parked right outside of my job! Truthfully, I wanted to try Bonafried's entire menu. (I'm still committed to this, actually) Their sandwiches sounded just that good. Simple ingredients while the chicken is packed with flavor! I went with The Southern: pickles and honey topped the massive piece of boneless chicken thighs between two super soft buns. I immediately fell in love. The crispiness of the chicken, sweetness of the honey and tangy taste of pickle all combined so well on this sandwich! Service was also pretty speedy and it was lunchtime in the CBD so I was impressed.Needless to say, I'm a total Bonafried fangirl and I can't want to cheat on my diet with them again!

I moved to The northeast over 3 years ago,and the thing I've missed most,was the food! So when I finally had the opportunity to come home for a visit for a wedding, I just knew I had to come here! Every day on Facebook when they're out I see they sell out within the first few hours, so I knew that I needed to make sure I was there right it open! We got off the plane and immediately went downtown to find them. As a born and raised chef from New Orleans, I find it no easy task to admit....THIS IS THE BEST CHICKEN IVE EVER HAD!(sorry nana!) The perfect combination of crispy yet saucy. The most beautiful spice combination with the right amount of pickle bite. A buttered bun that could put Paula Deen on her butt! A sandwich of such Southern delicacy that Dolly Parton would shed a tear of joy! We had to sit down for half an hour after eating this because it was just so beautifully portioned that we didn't have to eat anything else for the rest of the day. And I'm a little ashamed to admit that we didn't do a lot more eating during our trip because almost nothing could compare to the insane flavor of the special sauce. The only regret I have about this food truck is that I couldn't take one to my mom who has moved to Kansas City, and unfortunately has to deal with whatever they're trying to cook up there and pass as food LOL(I'm kidding,they're doing OK out there. So all in all 586 out of 10, price is on point for such a huge portion, definitely don't skip on the paper towels because you will be dripping, and I don't just mean the sandwich
