Not many choices in the lower peninsula of Louisiana. So heard of a place Black Velvet. It was a simple menu, with expensive prices. We went 2x, & both times you are initially fussed over and made sure all your needs are met. After that, you can hang up getting a refill of soda, beer, napkin, or ketchup. I had to wave them down with a beer bottle in my hand to get ANYONES attention. My husband was happy with his 1/2 & 1/2 Seafood platter. I had the Seafood stuffed baked potato. Those two tings should never go together. It was over stuffed with shrimp, & normally that would be a great thing, but this was precooked Walmart shrimp cocktail. I would had preferred what the hubby got. That shrimp looked more appealing. Either way, if your hard up and need to a place to eat and don't require attention and have funds to waste. Drop on in.

This is a great place in the middle of basically no where! The food is wonderful, the service is great and the place is clean. I read some reviews stating it was pricey, but I found the prices very reasonable for this area and for the portion sizes. We started with 2 orders of seafood kickers and they were fabulous! I had the blackened redfish with grilled veggies and my husband had the fish and shrimp plate. We had a bottle of wine and our bill was under $100. This is our new go to place! The guy next to us had a Shrimp PO Boy and it was insanely huge and packed full of shrimp!! I'll be getting it next time!! Definitely come here if you're in the area!! Only minor complaint was I asked for a water and she brought me a bottled water and charged me $3 for a .25 cent bottle of water. Tap water would have been just fine and I think there is a water issue so if they only had bottled water, she should have told me first and let me know the ridiculous price for it. I would have said never mind.

Great little gem is Buras Louisiana. We had the slow cooked roast beef & a popcorn shrimp salad! The food is always great and the owners Byron & Kelly will come out and greet their customer. Our waitress Annette knows us by name & brings our tea to the table as soon as we sit down. If you are here hunting or fishing this is the go to place for great food!!

Excellent food and service. The seafood baked potato and the gumbo were the stars of the show, but the tuna was a close second. The service was top notch as well, making us want to come back to visit. Hopefully we will make the trip from Texas again this summer!

This place is a little high on prices. But I can promise you will get your money worth. I've eaten here twice now. The first time I got the crab cakes as a appetizer. It's a whole meal all by them self. Second time here and got the hamburger steak and can I say fresh Broccoli. And yes I said fresh. So this is a great stop. Will beat any place down here hands down.

On our drive on a raining Friday afternoon we stopped to have a taste here. You will not be disappointed in the food. Service was great. We started out with a dozen oysters and I do miss local oysters. I could not decide so went with 1/2&1/2 frog legs and crab cakes!! So wonderful! Hubby ordered 1/2&1/2 grilled soft shelled crabs and grilled shrimp, said it was very very good. Service was great and pleasant ordering experience. I read a few of the previous post, and all I can say is - if you do not know people from the bayou then remember this hint: you act like jerks you are going to be treated like jerks. I am going to have to make special trip back here to try the other items in the menu while visiting family.

The crab kickers were good but the gumbo was greasy and not very flavorful. It was an okay place for dinner, but not the greatest option. Pretty expensive for the quality too.
