I decided to head back to Slidell and check out 55 a fairly new restaurant in the heart of Old Towne . A cute spot serving Southern dishes with great Indoor and Outdoor spaces. If you are lucky you can catch a cool band playing outside as well! For tammany taste they have an amazing menu for $50/couple. **NEW Restaurant Alert**What a nice surprise. It's definitely a hidden gem. My husband and I stumbled upon this place on our first date day in forever. We took in a moving and then headed to Old Town to see if there was anything we wanted. While driving through, we saw the sign for this place. I immediately googled it, looked at the pictures, the menu, and said, "Let's try it." So glad we did.SUNDAY BRUNCH!!!Greeting and AmbianceThese are the only reasons I didn't give it 5 stars. We weren't greeted upon entering and had to ask if we just seat ourselves to the bar tender, and she said yes. We chose a high top table. There were 3 wooden high tops and about 5 or - seater tables and a bar with seating. I could not quite put my finger on the anesthetic they were going for, but it was clean and not a deal breaker for us. DrinksThey have a full bar and have a cool selection of Mules (Tennesee, Mexican, Irish..etc). They were deletions and come in these mule cups that are a pretty good size.FoodHere is where the drooling begins ! For an appetizer, we got their Bananas Foster Beignets...the syrup was so good I wanted to lick the plate. The Beignets were a great density and cooked to perfection. I ordered the Redfish and Grits... I did try and get it blackened, but it came out fried. I'm secretly glad it came out wrong. It also came with shrimp, which I didn't realize, so it was a pleasant surprise. The crispy crust was flavorful and added great contrast to the gouda corn grits. Everything was so balanced and delicious!!! My husband git the shrimp ang grits... he inhaled it. Lastly, we added the loaded home fries. Potatoes were cooked perfectly, as was the bacon. Crispy with the cheddar cheese melted on top with a chive garnish. We definitely couldn't eat all of the food we ordered, but it was all amazing! At the end of the meal, one of the partners checked on our table, and we learned that they had just opened a few weeks earlier, and then he took me on a tour of the place. They have a very cute back patio. Large fans and a dedicated bar. They also have a private event space. Insane how big this place actually was. Highly recommended!!!

My husband and I had been looking forward to trying this place. Had heard great things and saw the reviews. We planned to come out for our anniversary and try their "brunch". The site states they open at 8 on Saturdays so we figured 10:15 am would be a great time to go. We showed up and the place was locked up. The "OPEN" light was lit up in the window and the lights were on inside, but the door was bolted shut. We tried calling and got no answer. Not even a recording about hours or anytAVOID this place. This is my second time coming here. The first trip, the waitress completely forgot my food, the manager did bring me a to go plate with my order, so that was fine. Figured we would give it another try, never again. Spinach dip was mediocre, ordered the fried shrimp platter, didn't want the fish. Waitress brings out the food, and my husband inquires about the hush puppies. She said it didn't come with that, but would ask if they'd make some, and they did. But you knew for a fact, the menu said otherwise. Baked Mac, is not at all baked. Red wine is served cold. I think this place has a lot of potential, but the service (just speaking of the waitresses we have had), and the food could be a tad better.

A friend and I went for drinks. No one was in there. The wait staff was hanging out eating and drinking at the bar while we were in there. They were very loud and not respectful of guests. Not professional. Talking about personal lives. I am not impressed.

The people here are the kindest and the food was yummy too. We sat outside and it was really quiet so they tried to turn on the tv for us. It didn't work but without us asking they found another way to play music for us. Everyone was chatting with us as well. We felt so welcome and taken care of :) !

The Gouda grits needed salt and pepper. The food was cold once it got to the table. The blackberry beignets were delicious and hot. The wait staff is sometimey at best. Others got prompt service and we did not, blame Shay!

"Welcome to Gouda-palooza, where apparently cheese is a personality trait! FIVE different gouda dishes? Is this a restaurant or some kind of dairy fever dream? The veal was about as tender as my old baseball glove and had all the flavor of plain toast. And that "fancy" flatbread pizza? Let's just say the cafeteria lady at my old high school is feeling pretty smug right now. Hard pass on ever coming back to this cheese-obsessed wonderland."

Nice atmosphere with some live music. That was the good part. Our meals were disappointing. I ordered the shrimp and grits. The 5 or 6 shrimp on my plate were the size of popcorn shrimp. Taste was ok but could have been much better and the grits were watery. Chicken pasta needed more sauce. Corn bread was very dry with no butter.
