Big Poppa Burgers

We went to this restaurant because we had a restaurant.com certificate and oh my are we glad we did! The people there are so very nice and friendly. Mae is so sweet and answered our questions about the menu and told us the history or how it came to be. The food was splendid and we left happily and wanting to come back again. After we left I noticed my little travel buddy Mr P was missing. We called and Mae found him and she mailed him back to me and refused to let me send her anything. So not only is the food amazing, the people are too. If you are ever in the area don't miss out on this gem, and be sure to tell Mae hi for me and MrP..

I was expecting more than 4 onion rings with the big poppa meal. Burger by itself was 8.25 + 6.00 to add a side and drink. I'm afraid to see how many came with the lil poppa if I got 4 there may be only 2 come with it

DAMN DAMN DAMN, this place has yet to disappoint me. Burgers are huge and very flavorful and the onion rings are one of the best. Definitely will keep this one on the list if go to's.

Ran across this restaurant using Grubhub. I've never heard of them before. I'm glad I gave them a try. The hamburger was so delicious and full of flavor. It was a homemade hamburger nothing frozen. The burgers are so huge I only ate half of the it. I love the unique fries, they were homemade as well. Real potatoes cut up in wedges with cajan seasoning. I love that you get a little surprise in your bag. A Strip of deep fried bacon. Next time I go I'll love to sit down in the restaurant because it was a bit soggy, but I still enjoyed it

I'm going ahead with the 5 stars. It wasn't perfect but it was the adventure I'd hoped for ending and a dang fine burger and a great value. To start, this is not in a location I would ever have made it too without a Groupon. But I will be back! It's deep into an industrial area of Gretna facing the levee. It's not picturesque, but the interior (from what I could see through the window as they are closed for now due to Covid) looks like a fun, spacious almost retro dining area. We found the order window and rang the bell for service. One woman is handling orders and she gave us the option to call in to avoid standing in the rain but we gave our orders at the window. A lil poppa, big poppa and large potato wedges with honey bbq sauce ( DONT GET THE LARGE, it's craziness, small is plenty for two). The service was fast and we ate at the picnic benches under the over hang. Burgers were well seasoned and appropriately sized for the price/description). Good toppings, sauce and buns. I would love to try the onion rings, chicken and waffles and chicken sandwich. I'm impressed and would recommend this for all burger lovers!!Oh, and that deep fried bacon was perfectly delicious too! The value is there!!

This New Orleans Westbank local spot is a perfect diner for breakfast or lunch. It's definitely off the beaten path but worth the trip to experience their food and shakes. I visited with a friend from Louisiana, who is now living in the DC area. We decided to splurge and try a few things. The Big Poppa Bacon Burger is a must! It's their signature burger. Big, grilled well, flavorful, soft bun, and plentiful bacon. We also sprang for their Louisiana Fried Chicken and Waffles. They did not disappoint. The chicken was tender and juicy and perfectly paired with the sweet waffle. As if we hadn't splurged enough, we ordered the Chocolate Peanut Butter Shake to wash it all down. This diner does not skimp on ingredients. Definitely a great place to visit and enjoy local fare. The only downside is that dining curbside is in a not so aesthetic area.

When I went it was only walk-up ordering. There was no sit down service. There's fresh squeezed lemonade available. The burger was very well seasoned as were the fries. I hope in the future I can sit and enjoy a meal there instead.

Don't let the location throw you off, this is a local gem!!! The employees are very friendly and helpful. The chicken and waffles comes with 2 thick fluffy waffles and 3 massive crispy chicken stripes!!

Tried Big Poppa's for the first time today. Food was delicious! We came hungry and left completely satisfied. Service was lacking to say that we were the only people in the building. It was a too quiet for a restaurant in my opinion. There was no music or televisions playing despite the fact there were many mounted to the wall. We were expecting live music since it was within the time and day of live performances. Overall, the food was great but it needs more care to make it a more enjoyable dine-in experience.

Not quite Big. About average. Awkward employee relations. I asked about side items and got not much response but when I picked up my burger the menu had quite a few sides to choose from. I am not interested in returning.
