The building didn't look too fancy, but when I walked in it seemed to have a nice "grandparents hangout spot" vibe. The walls & ceiling & construction need updating. But the customer service was amazing. The beef was good, simple fillet, perfectly cooked; the potato was good. Not outstanding. Now, the asparagus....definitely out of a can with some hand shredded cheese. Was not impressed. Overall, for the price of the food, the setting, I highly doubt I will return. But it was a nice quiet get away for Valentine's Day.

For review 1800, what better place to review than a restaurant I have driven past my entire life and always wondered about until recently? Beef Connection has always intrigued me- it's a windowless building and I never see any people over there. What's the situation? My dad and I decided to try Beef Connection for lunch, since I had never been, and we were in the mood for steak. We had no problem just walking in and getting a table on a Friday afternoon. To our surprise, there were a few people here and they were all regulars- the waitresses knew them by name. For the lunch special you can get a cut of steak and your choice of any two sides. I decided to get the petit filet with potatoes au gratin and spinach au gratin. The petit filet was perfection. I got mine cooked medium and it was juicy and tasty and everything I want in a steak. The potatoes au gratin was great! A MASSIVE serving a potatoes covered in a thick crust of cheese with cheese mixed in throughout. This could easily be shared, if you're the sharing type. The spinach au gratin was excellent as well. Let's just be honest- a thick coat of cheese makes everything delicious. Once again, the portion was massive and the taste was out of this world.Service was excellent and our waitress checked on us regularly even though she was juggling a lot of tables. There's absolutely no natural light in the place and the dining room tends to be dark, so be aware of that if you are claustrophobic. Not seeing daylight was a little odd after a while, especially since it was around noon on a sunny day when we were here. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and I will absolutely return.

Delicious food and onderful friendly service at very reasonable prices. It's definitely ok'd New Orleans.... on Mondays they serve Red Beans & Rice with a pork chop or Cajun smoke sausage at lunch time. They always have the best Chicken-Sausage Gumbo. The other entrees at lunch are smaller portions of the full size dinner entrees. Fantastic!

While the name may conjure up images of a 70's gay bar in a movie, this restaurant is serious about their meat.Located at the corner of Belle Chasse Hwy. and Gretna Blvd., the Beef Connection is an old school steakhouse. From what I have been told, this was originally a Ruth's Chris location many years ago. Another bit of history is that this is the first place I had a proper meal after Katrina. This place is a true New Orleans style steakhouse. Steaks come sizzling in butter and are always cooked perfectly. The ribeye is my favorite, but the fillet is also very good. I am not sure if they use prime beef, but every steak i have had has been tender and wonderfully beefy. For sides, try the potatoes augratin and you wont be disappointed.Service has always been good, and the prices are reasonable considering the quality. Since this is the only real steak joint on the west bank, you are likely to see westbank political royalty while you dine.I don't know if it is worth a long trip, but if you're on the westbank, there is no better steakhouse.

Their steaks are AMAZING!!! I got a small medium well Filet and it's so buttery. It's a little pricey, but for me, it's one of the best steaks in town. Try it for yourself and you won't regret it.

I feel like this would be an ideal candidate for restaurant make over. Warm blue cheese, canned asparagus, half a cup of oil in the potatoes. Then the bill came and I realized I could have eaten at Ruth's Chris for the same price. Steak was decent though.

I have been going to the Beef Connection since I was 13 years old and it remains to be one of my favorite places for a good meal.I have been as a party of 2 and I have been as a party of 20 and each time, the staff has been absolutely wonderful. As a matter of fact, I went only 2 days ago and it was fantastic!Jennifer C is write about the decor. The little pink building could definitely use a facelift. And it wouldn't hurt to rip out the outdated flowered wallpaper. But really, this place reminds me of one of those old and established restaurants that are "set in their ways:" so to speak. But who cares about the decor. Let's talk food!!!The Remoulade Shrimp are delicious, but my absolute favorite appetizer is the BBQ shrimp. TO DIE FOR!!!If you love a steak, they have one of the best in the city. I suggest the ribeye, but that's my own personal preference. And yes, they use real butter, so if that's a problem for you (not me!), you can always ask for it dry.The absolute best dish on their menu? The LOBSTER! A lobster, boiled and soaked in melted butter. Best. Lobster. EVER. Ask to get it out of the shell for more easy access to the meat. Usually, I share a lobster and a steak with someone else to get my own little surf 'N' Turf going.Love this place!

Driving up and down Lafayette St., I have passed the empty lot several times wondering when the restaurant would be open. Finally craving a great steak, I called, and it was open for lunch. We were the only guests in the restaurant, but it was still set and ready for a full house. It turns out that their busiest time is between 11:30a-1p.The menu was what I expected, a wonderful assortment of steak offerings. We started our meal with overstuffed crab-stuffed mushrooms. The dressing was well-seasoned. Being a crab-lover, it could have used a bit more crab though. The mushrooms were piping hot and big enough for a party of four to share and be satisfied. We both ordered the 16oz T-bone. Although we each had two different temps, you couldn't tell by looking at them. Served sizzling hot on a plate of butter, we couldn't wait to dive in. The ends were charred just like we like, and Ms. Mary, the cook, put her proverbial foot in the food. For a side dish, I had a baked potato topped with everything, and my husband had the broccoli casserole. The pairings couldn't have been more perfect! I think they figured out the right amount of ingredients to put on the potato, because it wasn't lacking anything. While our visit to this Beef Connection was a last minute decision, it has definitely earned a return visit from us.Enjoy!

Went with friends for a birthday celebration. We were the third of three tables of patrons. In other words, it was not busy at all. Waitress with slurred speech seemed to have a difficult time focusing with our appetizer order. She got one of 3 appetizers wrong after we repeated the selection multiple times and the third appetizer she forgot to place with the kitchen. After more than one hour we received cold appetizers. Going on nearly 2 hours we asked how much longer for our steaks because we were ready to leave and her response was that she didn't realize we hadn't gotten them. We cancelled our order. Waited 20 minutes longer and it appeared the waitress was having a hard time calculating our bill so we paid the amount that would cover what we ate and left.
