this is a great, fun, very affordable place that no one really knows about, unless your a big fan of cajun music... They don't open for live music every night, but they do lots of specialty shows. most recently? I went to a fundraiser for a bourbon street musician who passed away... the new orleans musicians clinic, and about 12 bands got together to raise money for awareness. All Cajun, blues, zydeco, all day long. Bbq, burgers, jambalaya, beer, drinks, and more. raffles, and more. the music was so awesome, and the folks who work there? just so nice.call ahead to make sure that live music is going on... otherwise, head out there for a wonderful day on the bayou. You can rent a canoe for about $15 and head out without a guide into the swamps. Don't be afraid, they keep the big guys well fed at the other end of the swamp. and right next door is a wonderful restaurant that does the same. The gators literally come out for dinner nightly.the tour is safe, your in an area that you can't get lost in. You get to the end of the line, and you can get outta the canoe and get a walk in, as your in lafittes barataria... just down the street there's cajun cabins you can also rent.Always call this place before you head out, to make sure you know whats going on. Its literally only about 20 minutes from new orleans.this place is also available for rent. You could have an unbelievable party out here. Your in a giant building, that opens up to nature, with a big stage, and lots of "coon azz" decor. gator skulls, turtles, and more. signs saying "don't feed the gators" with a visual that will make you NOT want to feed the gators... LOLhuge bbq pits, and more, lend to making this an unreal experience, that you won't soon forget. get out there... enjoy!

I had my destination wedding at Bayou Barn in May 2016 and couldn't have been happier with the turnout. The venue was PERFECT for myself and my (now) husband's personalities... super rustic and charming with so much character! I loved that the wedding packages are pretty much all-inclusive -- delicious buffet, open bar, full run of the venue (ceremony and reception), decorations, servers, bartenders, etc. The only thing you really need to provide is your cake, DJ/band and any additional decorations you choose (but trust me when I say you don't need any). I was so nervous about planning my wedding from afar having never seen the venue in person but it exceeded my expectations. I will say that I hired a day-of coordinator to make sure our decorations were in place and the ceremony/reception ran smoothly so I can't say if the on-site coordinator that's included in the wedding package is any good or not.If you're thinking of having a wedding here and are from out of town like me, look no further! If you like the idea of an indoor/outdoor venue that is out of the ordinary -- this is your place! The food is delicious, the drinks were flowing all night, the service was impeccable and the decor was "Cajun/bayou" themed (including alligators chilling in the nearby bayou). The size can accomodate a large or small group and you can be as loud as you want (I know we were) without worrying about disturbing the neighbors. Loved having my wedding here and highly recommend it for anything that is considering it.

Drove from New Orleans to go canoeing with the family. They were not doing canoe rentals even though their website clearly says they are open Thursdays. Very discouraging after waiting for 4 teenagers to take turns using one shower to get ready and driving in traffic for 30 mins! Love the idea of canoeing through the preserve so might try in the future but will make sure I call first!,,,

Staff is the best I've ever experienced at any restaurant established. Restaurant is very clean and neat looking.Maybe the food seems to taste better because of these facts. A great place for a fast meal.

This magical place hosted the Dave Chappelle juke joint. They had an all you can eat buffet line set up. Their white chocolate bread pudding was baked to perfection. The back patio provided a perfect back drop to the live music and jokes coming from the stage. Can't say I've ever been to a better party.

I recently had my wedding at the Bayou Barn and had a WONDERFUL experience! The food was fabulous and everyone in that place is very friendly and professional. The ambience at the Bayou Barn is very very special with all the little touches and decorations. The staff, the food, the decor and the detail to which they went to make my wedding special was also amazing. I had a few last minute requests and Tammy was responsive, kind and amazing to work with. My friends and family had such a wonderful time that everyone is still talking about it. Not only would I recommend this venue to friends, but I am searching for a reason I can use as an excuse to throw another party here. BIG thanks to Tammy and her amazing staff for giving me, my husband, my family, and friends a night we'll never forget.

The food was good but the lady who owns it Tammy and caters is not good to work with. She never knew who I was every time I called or came to the venue. She never informed me of any changes to the venue. Such as a big platform and pergola that was built where The ceremony washing to be. I also am missing a lot of decorations I paid for. Which she told me that the people I trusted to pick them up took them. I had to hire someone to help put up decorations and with coordinating the wedding because Tammy said she does not deal with that since she is just a caterer. She was very rude to the coordinator and told her she did not have time to answer her questions because she had to cook. She called me the day before my wedding telling me she and her staff could not hang up my hanging decorations and none of them could get on a ladder, which I was never informed of in the first place. When I brought this to her attention she said the girl Mallory who went over the decorations with me should have told me but because she was pregnant that she was just not thinking. Then when she finally did show up when I was going over the decorations I asked her when I could get someone to pick up the decorations and she ignored me and started talking about someone else. Also, when I first signed a contract with her she gave me a cake allowance that we both agreed on but closer to my date she apparently forgot and added that price back onto my price. I had to remind her and show her the original contract in order to get what we originally agreed on. Please people, really think about it before coming here. I have heard from others and her staff that this is how she is. I paid a lot of money for an experience that I would not do again if I could go back in time.
