This is the best place in town to find fresh seafood. Everything is so fresh, and well priced. They've got just about everything you'd want that's in season, and I'd bet they could order what you'e looking for, if they don't have it in stock. Just call, the customer service on the phone is excellent! The people who work here are wonderful, especially the lady (Nikki?) who works outside, in all kinds of weather, and patiently waits on customers is knowledgeable about their products, and will even put your order in a bag of ice. Just an all-round pleasant experience coming here.

American Seafood Inc, 3034 George Nick Connor Dr. New Orleans, 504-822-3983..I was turned on to American Seafood by a friend who had been getting her seafood there for a while. Well "lo and behold" the heavens opened up. I was informed that this was the same American Seafood established in 1973 on Orleans Ave, and in later years relocated to George Nick Connor Dr, NOLANow for all you new gentrify-neighbors, and for y'all Nat'ually N'awlins residents, let me "splain" the route. If you hit Paris Avenue from N.S.E.or W. you will see a Popeye's on Paris Ave and Gentilly Broad. Behind the Popeye's is Treasure St., continue down Treasure St, for 3 1/2 blocks and on your right is the American Seafood Inc, Hot Dang It! You got it! Dat's how we do it y'all. There was Mr. Hess bringing big boxes of seafood to customers for pick up, and the men helping him getting the orders out here in the front ready for pick up, then there were the lines of people trying to make a decision far greater than what they came for, as my mama would say when you asked her for extra of whatever, "Is this your eyes that's bigger than your stomach, kind of request ?". yes ma'am, I would say. Mrs. Hess was filling orders as fast as the customers were spewing them out. What a beautiful lady not only in looks but in spirit. She never missed a word of your order, WOW. Oh, I would also like to take this time to thank her for the mask. mine broke when I was drooling over that piece of trout she was showing a customer, holy smokes, that's the size you pay 30$ for at a restaurant! There was boiled crawfish, live crawfish, Drum,Tilapia, Catfish, Trout, Grouper, Cod( they were out ), Shrimp 5 1/2 '' and 3" long, with a just got caught fresh smell, Oysters on the half shell, shucked oysters put in cartons, unshucked Oysters, crab fingers, crab lump meat, crab claw meat, King crabs, Dungeness crabs, live Blue crabs 6-8' long, and when they spread open their claws I swear they could reach reach 8-10 wide, they had three different sizes which included gumbo crabs. there was boiled seafood period. I may have left out something but I will add it later if I did. so keep checking or call. Those blue crabs should have been in a beauty pageant, they were so beautiful, huh? When you see all the selection of seafood, yes your eyes will get bigger than your stomach, I was stunned like a deer in headlights, and my eyes were wide and blinking like broken street lights, OMGawd! the prices were very marketable, and much less than you would expect. The small businesses, families, single people, married couples, festival businesses, etc. Ms. Hess told me the best was to cook Drum other than fry it, well I baked it, wait a minute , the thought of how good it came out, has my eyes crossed, ummmh hmm. On Thurs, Friday and Saturday from early morn til 1pm, they are out front, tables filled with seafood, and orders picked up. Otherwise you can call and ask and order for pick up.This young couple are compassionate for the people of New Orleans, and are in tune with the needs of the city. When you call in an inquiry you will probably get Kathy, a family member, and guess what y'all she genuinely loves my humor, uh huh. Cathie is certainly an asset to American Seafood, she's patient, knowledgeable, kind and intelligent. To know that every area of the business you touch base with here is on the ball, that is absolutely N'awlins y'all. All the seafood is FRESH and delicious, and you feel genuinely welcomed. The staff of men working the orders were very polite and professional, they were right on time when Mr. Hess said we need this and that. What a great family owned business for 47 years, several generations, quality products, professional and welcoming atmosphere, clean environment, in compliance with covid19 regulations, and sending home everyone like happy campers, ooooh dawgie! what more can you ask for, uuuh a Saints game? huh? Kudos to the Hess family staffers , and the American Seafood crew. Let the customers know you're on YELP we'd like to hear from friends customers, everyone. American Seafood, Inc I Nat'ually N'awlins Y'all. The hours are as follows:Mon -Thursday 7:am - 4:pmFridays 7:am - 5:pmSaturdays 7:am - 2:pmI'm outta heah y'all, "MO" (check out the pics )!

Everything. A+ quality and customer service cannot be beat. American Seafood and Wayne Hess are at the top of the market in New Orleans. I'd compare them to Pensacola's joe patti's. Absolutely a must when visiting new orleans.

This is not a restaurant but a seafood market with wonderful fresh seafood at reasonable prices. We loaded up our cooler to bring home. People are so nice and helpful. Be aware, they only take cash. Had to go to an ATM because Yelp site says apple pay and credit card. Not so.
