Stopped in for a late lunch. I ordered the spinach and ricotta empanada with a side of the Israeli salad. SO had the shakshuka. Everything was absolutely delicious. Looking forward to coming back for another meal. There were a few other things on the menu that I'd like to try.

Mama's delivered a touchdown today. Got the Mediterranean platter. Absolutely fresh and delicious. Israeli salad, taboulle, pickles, homemade hummus, pita, and just-fried falafel made my lunch an extra special treat. I used to only order their well-known and reliable lunch special of soup, salad, and empanada, but this platter delivers at a whole other (kosher) level.

I was in the Bala Cynwyd area and wanted a quick bite to eat so I decided to check out Nana's Kitchen. I had been wanting to check out Nana's Kitchen since it had opened up in the location of the Dairy Cafe for a bit. Similarly to the Dairy Cafe, Nana's Kitchen is a kosher restaurant and is hechshered by the Community Kashrus of Greater Philadelphia. Nana's Kitchen is a fusion of both Middle Eastern and South American cuisine. They have a bunch of breakfast items as well as lunch and dinner options. I was there during lunch time and decided to get a small pizza. I also saw they had a chocolate smoothie, which I decided to try as well. The restaurant wasn't too crowded when I was there, but it took a fairly long time to actually get my food. Eventually, my food came out and I took it to go. However, there is plenty of seating at Nana's Kitchen including a large upstairs seating area. My small pizza was nice and crispy with a crunchy crust. There was a nice ratio of sauce to cheese making a good pizza. It was nicely finished off with a bit of basil. I didn't love the chocolate smoothie because it was very sweet and didn't actually taste too much like chocolate. Altogether, Nana's Kitchen is a nice, new restaurant in Bala Cynwyd that serves a nice variety of Middle Eastern/Israeli food!

Matzo ball soup was savory, brothy, and the balls were deliciously soft and had a perfect bite. Mushroom empanada tasted of fresh mushrooms, onions, and creamy mashed potato in a crispy shell, pizza empanada was fresh mozz with tomato sauce. Highly recommend this place.

@NommingNomad approved. I didn't even know that there was a place right there next to the Narberth Theater. I was walking past looking for a place to grab a quick lunch and decided to check them out. It's a neat space with comfortable seating and I was immediately greeted with smiles as soon as I walked in. They even offered me a taste of freshly baked gluten free tehina bread which was really good and had the nutty flavor from the tehina. And I cannot stress the importance of friencly customer service and they nailed it. I decided to get a couple of their empanadas that were on display, to-go and I chose the Spinach & cheese and the mushroom & potato empanadas and I loved them both. But the spinach one was my favorite. They have a lot more options on their menu and I look forward to trying more. I would definitely recommend this place and I plan on going there more often.

I was treated to a delicious Mediterranean platter from here last night! I believe my friend spent about $55 and it served about 15 of us for lighter noshing. It was a really nice option for entertaining that I'll have to keep in mind for shindigs I host in the future. The grape leaves were jammed packed and wonderful. The Israeli salad had the right amount of oil and fresh diced veggies. The hummus was creamy enough and had a nice zing of lemon. The falafel, even cold was tasty and had a nice crunchy outer shell/soft interior ratio. The barley salad was also flavorful and contained a nice amount of veggies and herbs. Not one bite was just barley. I didn't have the pita, but the triangles were decent sized and lightly toasted. It served as a good "utensil" for my dining companions. The platter was well received by all! It's kosher too, for anyone looking. They have dine in options as well as delivery.

I just opened up my takeout from Nana's. I ordered the Salmon with fresh herbs, which comes with tabouleh salad and Cesar salad. The salads were nicely seasoned but the salmon was very charred on the outside, yet mushy and almost jelly-like in the center. It was not even close to warm in the center. I believe it was probably frozen or not fully thawed when it started to cook, to reach this uneven texture. When I arrived I was told they were still working, but a moment later the food was brought out... I wonder if it was rushed. I would have waited longer to have the fish cooked through the center. Yes, I know that salmon is best medium well rather than well done. This was most certainly NOT medium well, as medium well should still flake on a fork, and should be warm to the touch. This was practically gooey and cold in the center. I'm disappointed.
