Monica’s Pasta Shop

I was on the hunt for a great fresh pasta shop in Boston to gather some treats to take home on our flight to Indianapolis and Monica's popped up on Yelp. The staff was incredibly friendly in this cozy little pasta shop in the north end neighborhood. We selected a pasta nest for each family member and bagged them up for the road. The next day we thoroughly enjoyed our fresh spinach paparadelle and bucatini. Chef's kiss The store also offers a variety of classic Italian items like cheese, risotto, and Moore. Definitely worth a pitstop as you work your way through this tasty neighborhood.

Italian sandwich was great but very large. I would recommend offering a half sandwich as I had to throw away half of my $16 sub.

The chicken mortadella sandwich here is amazing! The sandwiches are absolutely stacked, I had a half of it and couldn't finish it! They also have very good pasta! The linguini is very good, and so is all the other pastas. The service here is great. They are very kind, and make sure they get your order right. This place is amazing! If you want really good sandwiches from the north end, come here!

Tiny space. Fresh pasta with many selections. We picked up a small lasagna. A little pricey at $20. Very small and fed about 3 people. I wish they had pastries or some desserts that were homemade. Marina sauce was freshly homemade. Our pastas were delicious. They have fresh breads. . NO street parking or shall I say almost non existence parking so walk over. You could park across the street at Faneuil Hal parking and spend the day in the North end. Overall, def worth a visit.

This is my favorite fresh pasta spot! I have tried all the different shops in the north end and it is by far the best. They also carry some pickled olives, preserved meats and to go hot dishes. They also make salads and sandwiches like their flag ship (albeit less selection).I come here twice a month at least and always leave with a bag of goodies.

I hesitate to tell how I really feel about Monica's as I don't want it to get any more crowded I'm not sure how we first discovered this shop - we may have eaten at it's also-incredible restaurant next door - but I'm so glad we did! Their lasagnas (especially the bolognese) are amazing. You can pick up a small pan that feeds 3-4 for around $15. You couldn't purchase the ingredients at a grocery store that go into this for $15! It's a great deal. They also have half and full sheets if you're going to a family gathering and you're providing the meal. We have done this several times and it always ends the same way...."where did you get this? Do you have to order it ahead of time because I want to get this for XYZ..." Sorry mom but this is the best tasting lasagna I've ever had. You should also try their freshly made pastas, sauces, meatballs and more. We try to have Sunday dinners to keep the "kids" (young adults) coming back home and Monica's Pasta Shop is definitely the reason for the high attendance!

Part of food tour and we were provided an italian sub and a caprese sub. Both were great - bread was crunchy and light - the cheese was fantastic and the meats were what you would expect. I enjoyed these quite a bit but I do think the wheelhouse here is the pasta so I think that is what I would try if I'm cooking pasta at home. Super solid but probably like pizza joints - lots of great options and none stand out against peers and that is probably the case with sandwiches here since these didn't stand out but were decent and I'd return for another but I wouldn't come across town like I would for the cannoli and Caffe Vittoria.

While they are under the same corporate umbrella, do not confuse this shop with Monica's Mercato. The sandwiches may technically be the same on the menu, but in practice they are very different.This review is based only on my experience with Monica's pasta shop's sandwiches. It is not a result of the comparison. I'm merely advising you to go to the mercato should you want a sub of that quality.Anyways, I'm sure the pasta is great here. It looks yummy in the store! The sandwiches were just okay. The steak in the steak too sandwich was yummy, but it was not a very hefty sandwich. The other materials were pretty sparse in it. The bread didn't seem very fresh, either. The chicken Milanese was also just okay, but taken down a further notch because I found a bone in the chicken.I unfortunately won't be coming here for sandwiches again, but maybe for pasta, since that seems to be more their thing!

Came here for deli sandwiches for an early am fishing trip.People here are very nice.The sausages, cheese and other selections were interesting.I'm not from Boston so I dont lnow the going rate, but prices seemed pretty high.The pecorino cheese was fantastic! I am used to the aged version for grating, but this was soft and easily sliced. Great on a sandwich or alone.We had two chicken Parmesan sandwiches hot and pretty good, we ate that night. Large portion sandwich was probably enough for 2.We got dried sausages and grilled chicken for the boat. All good.4 sticks of bread were ok, but not impressed. Still me and the 3 grandkids ate what we bought for several days, breakfasts and snacks.
