An interesting study in the observation of the gentrification of neighborhoods is the Yelp reviews of local eateries. This delightful Chinese take out option is following the long-standing tradition of offering food that is just fine, and exactly as advertised. You should enjoy a meal from here, but you should not be surprised by the fact the Chef has no Michelin Stars to their name. Do not despair at the reviews of Karl and Lorenzo A. (One wonders if they are from the same family, as they are certainly cut from the same cloth, the finest silk unfit to be touched by coarse hands such as mine). Take it for what it is and enjoy your fortune cookie, and if you want to get some hipster noodles go to fucking Cheu.

Don't understand the low star rating. The food is delicious & priced right. We order a lot from here, the only place I use for Chinese. It's great!!!

So does anybody know why most of the Chinese restaurants in the area are no longer serving those thick doughy fried dumplings that come in orders of 8 and could be a meal themselves? Ming River serves you potstickers, not dumplings. And I didn't particularly care for their "earthy" flavor. But yes, they are literally the frozen potstickers that you can buy at any asian grocery store. (Spring Garden Market has a heavenly selection) And for 5.75 I could have gotten 45 of them instead of 8. The general tso's, which I ordered on the hottest spice level, was not spicy at all. I should have heeded other's warnings prior to ordering because this has been a common complaint. But I thought well how spicy something is is very subjective, and I'm not really all that good with high levels of spice, so this should knock my socks off if I order at the hottest they serve. It didn't. The chicken was good, and crunchy and the sauce was pretty typical but good. I think my biggest problem with the order was the fried rice. It wasn't fried. It's literally just steamed yellow rice with carrots and peas. Again, it's the kind that you could buy at the grocery store. So it was super dry and almost hard as if it had been steamed earlier and then left out a bit. Overall, I wouldn't order from here again. DM me if you know where I can get those thick doughy fried meat dumplings.116. 8 Pork DumplingsFried$5.75115. General Tso's Chicken Combination PlatterHot and Spicy$8.9512 Liter SodaDiet Coke$3.95

I really wanted to love this place since it is so close to my house, but something about it just seemed very off to me. It was too greasy and didn't settle in my stomach right. Typical Philly Chinese place selling looseys to neighbors and such. It was less than "no frills", it was just bad.

Two stars, only because the first time I ordered there, the Mei Fun was good. Tonight's meal, was just awful. I ordered Lemon chicken. The "chicken" was pretty much just fried breading... I kept cutting open piece after piece to see if there was any chicken anywhere. What little chicken I did manage to find was dried out 1/8" thick strips. And really, I wouldn't have minded just fried breading, cause fried is yummy. But not in this case... it was the driest fried food I ever had, hardly even a touch of greasiness to make it even have some flavor. I really can't get over how bad this was. I'm leaving it out for the night critters.

As a previous review mentioned, this place is what you think it is- easy, fast delivery for chinese food with no-frills and no hassle. Food came within 20 minutes for lunchtime and the spring rolls were hot, the rice was steamed well and the noodles were good. Beef lo mein was my favorite in my order, just needed a little more soy sauce, beef was pretty good quality, and it was an average price for a pint of lo mein. The only problem I had was I ordered two types of chicken- general tso and orange chicken, both lunch specials. The chicken itself was pretty well cooked and the sauce was sweet, but they tasted exactly the same. No difference in flavor, quality of chicken, or orange to be found anywhere. While I agree that some things can be overlooked when ordering from a neighborhood joint, having two separate dishes cooked the same exact way? Not really a good way to get consistent new customers. Not necessarily a sign of gentrification, more a byproduct of people wanting what they paid for.

Got delivery: food was extremely soggy. Beef with peppers was like beef-flavored sponge (very hard to chew and break down, definitely not slices of good beef), and General Tso Shrimp was like shrimp wrapped in pizza dough (not crispy at all). I called and asked if it was supposed to be like that or if someone messed up and took it out too soon: was told it got soggy waiting for the driver to deliver... That would be like a restaurant saying the food is cold and gross because waiter left it in the window for an hour... and then pretending like it's not their problem. It might be good to eat at the location but I literally had to turn around and order from South Garden (normal okay option). Was hoping to find something new and found something that cost me the price of 2 dinners.

Ordered via grubhub, all was well until I found a live roach crawling around in the lo mein. This was not fun.

I ordered very late off of Uber eats. The food arrived quickly, piping hot and very fresh. It was absolutely delicious. I had the chicken wings and general Tao chicken platter. Looking forward to trying out more menu items soon!
