"Amazing!Great staff- seated right awayGreat Hibachi-ordered chicken and shrimpVery tasty soup, saladMain course was excellent Support Local, not chains"
"It was alright. The food was fine but nothing exceptional. I do recommend the gyoza. I do not recommend the calamari, it was more batter than meat. Hibachi chicken was good, a huge portion. Wait staff was alright."

"My friend and I had reservations at 4:30 right when they opened, we were greeted immediately and sat down promptly. Service was great -- our server Cam was attentive and fun to banter with.Ambience was nice and the noise level was loud enough to be bustling but quiet enough you could enjoy a conversation. We ordered the seaweed salad, ika salad, and four sushi rolls. All were delicious and tasted very different from each other. We were surprised at how much you could taste the char from the Anniversary roll, it was a unique experience.Would definitely come back here and have already told quite a few friends to go check it out!"
"Haven't visited in quite a while, particularly for dinner. The current chef seems to be doing a respectable job with ingredient selection and traditional preparation techniques. I didn't think we'd ever find Tara no Kiku (cod milt) fresh in Mundelein, but they're doing it. They have a nice selection to dine izakaya style. It's pretty spendy though, being higher than other similar spots around."
"Wish I could one of my typical in-depth reviews, but we just stopped by to put in a to-go order. The staff was considerate and patient and we placed our order for a few rolls quickly. It was mid-afternoon, so the sushi came out quickly. We ate in the car, so I can't comment on the restaurant vibe. What I will say is that the rolls were excellent, unique, and above average. That's why I'll stick with 4 stars until I can experience again."
"I came here for lunch with my mom and sister over Christmas. We were excited to try a new place! We each got the chicken teriyaki bowls, which was so good and was a good portion size! It came with chicken in a teriyaki sauce, chow mien noodles, and veggies. The chicken was grilled perfectly and was juicy. Nice big pieces. The teriyaki sauce was lovely and not too sweet. We also decided to split an order of eggrolls, which was also good! We will be back soon!"
"Great friendly service. Enjoyed the adventure of the river boat sushi! Don't forget you can ask for whatever roll you want to be circulated on the river."
"OMG This place was amazing!! I'm definitely coming back when I'm in town again!I've been eating at too many places with smallish portions during my trip to Madison, so I was super excited to see that Teriyaki Sushi Express gave me HUGE generous portions for $10!I got their teriyaki chicken that came with veggies and white rice. The meat was perfect. It was sweet and savory quality pieces of meat with no tendons or fatty pieces to discard. Perfectly seasoned with exactly the kind of sauce I love. It's very similar to mall teriyaki chicken (I'm not complaining, I'm a giant sucker for it!). The veggies and rice were fine and flavored by smothering them in the teriyaki sauce, just the way I like it!In case you missed it earlier, they do NOT skimp here! Meat, veggies, rice, it was all plentiful! It was a satisfactory meal!"
"Recently went to the 35th anniversary party and had a blast! It goes without saying that the food is excellent... you don't stay in business this long if it's not. But this spot has been a staple in my life and outside of great food and great staff... they have done an amazing job building a community out of their regulars. It was really cool to see so many old friends, and then their kids in here a couple of weeks ago celebrating 35 years together. The owners have done something special."
"Go to place for anything! Date with friends, family, spouse. Love the calm and friendly atmosphere. Food is perfect as always!"
"Great deal on the lunch menu. I always leave here full and satisfied. Fresh fish and quick service"
"Place is just so small and sometimes have to wait for a table. But their bento box is so good, steak teriyaki and shrimp tempura are my go to, I like their side salad and dressing and miso soup. Fresh fruit smoothies are great too."

The restaurant was very clean, with a calming music, and nice waterfall feature. I placed a Togo order which was taken care of rather quickly and the host was nice. I am seeing a couple of the other reviews about the woman owner being mean, but she wasn't there while I was inside. The California Roll was really good!

Ordered six sushi rolls for takeout on a Saturday afternoon - beautiful presentation with delicious rolls! We tried the Golden Dragon, Oishi roll, Pink and Black roll, Dynamite, Crazy Dragon, and Paradise roll. Favorite was Paradise, but they were all really good. Plenty of wasabi and ginger on the side. We also had the Bullet appetizer which was yummy, although I wished the jalapeno was a little more cooked... It was pretty crunchy. Definitely recommend, will be coming back to try the rest of the menu!

A hidden gem in Mundelein. Small and cozy sushi place with friendly servers and chefs. Our waiter was polite and attentive. We had our 1 year old daughter and got her set up with a high chair right away. We started our meal with some hot sake, gyoza and miso soup. Our server even brought a soup with some ice for our daughter which we didn't expect. This was a nice gesture since we can give her the soup right away. Usually we would have to wait for the soup to cool down before giving our baby something hot. We order the following:Maguro nigiri - fresh blue tuna with a kick of wasabi in between the rice and fish Sweet Potatoes maki - nicely crispy one of my favorite non fish rollRainbow Maki - the assortment of sashimi on top of a California rolls. This is my go to roll here because they don't stuff this with crab stick but actually top with sashimi.Osaka Maki - tuna, avocado, cream cheese, cucumber, spicy Mayo and masago. Usually anything with cream cheese can be too much but I liked there was a good balance of tuna and cream cheese.Spicy Sake Maki - actual salmon pieces and not diced salmon. I always hesitate ordering anything with spicy Mayo and fish because it's usually dice fish which I hate but Osaka does it right with the salmon sashimi pieces.Spicy Scallop Maki - good ratio or spicy Mayo to scallopNegi Hamachi Maki - simple and tastyGreen Tea Tiramisu - not overly sweet

Went back tonight. Didn't feel like sitting at a hibachi table since I was by myself. They were accommodating and sat me at a regular table. 10/10.

Decent by Midwestern standards, I've ordered take out twice and tried some of the following: teriyaki chicken, California roll, spicy tuna roll, gyoza, and salad. Nothing was top-tier; the chicken quality was so-so in the teriyaki chicken, with a sauce that was more salty and less sweet than other teriyaki sauce I've had in the past .the salad dressing wasn't my favorite, the California roll was just ok. The spicy tuna roll was better than expected. The gyozas were obviously just frozen potstickers zapped in a microwave. Prices are reasonable. Just based on cost and convenience I will probably be back.

"I've dined at Meiji for many years now and I'm surprised I haven't written a review.A very large restaurant with lots of seating, fairly large bar in the center of the restaurant and completely separated. They have six hibachi grills. I've been here for hibachi and sushi and enjoyed both. Of course the entertainment for the hibachi is what you come for and that is dependent on the chef you have. Good atmosphere and never too loud. Service is always very good. As for sushi, it is good but I prefer one other place over Meiji but that is personal taste. Recently, I've noticed the portions of the sushi has gotten smaller. Overall still very good and I'll be back depending on my mood.in the Waukesha area:Other hibachi: try AsianaOther Sushi: Asiana, Pacific Bistro, Sakura and my favorite Fujiyama"
"Second time was everything I needed and wanted from a sushi place. The fresh salmon yellowfin was the best thing ever. Ahi is the tuna I eat often in recent months, but having it served fresh enough to be raw is a treat to experience here in the Midwest. Typically salmon is my favorite seafood but these days I think I'm leaning towards the tuna more and more. The presentation of the item I ordered was something I didn't expect and in truth I won't be ordering whatever it was again. I didn't think to take a photo of the plate on delivery, which is something I regret more than actually ordering something that was so ornate when it didn't serve the dish itself. Since I wasn't able to clearly understand the answer of what some of the garnishes were, I can only assume some were not meant to be eaten, the flower itself I decided wasn't even tasting. The white shredded nest of something I couldn't identify by taste or visual, it was ....interesting?A side bowl of rice was a bit of a challenge being that I long ago gave up trying to look sophisticated by having proficiency handling chopsticks. So it wasn't able to really accompany the meal too well. I'm certainly pleased that I decided to revisit Takara, the previous visit left me thinking I lost my appreciation for sushi when I wasn't drinking with my meal. I'm still certain I have a far greater appreciation for sushi when it's accompanied by vast quantities of saki, a couple beers, and maybe a good liquor to get into the mindset. My very first time eating sushi 30yrs ago was done on the condition the friend who dragged me out to eat raw fish was part of a "you buy drinks, and I'll eat your raw fish". I loved the experience. But didn't repeat it for another decade, and I was willing to do it, alcohol wasn't a condition, it was just an excuse to do both together. So I did come to love the taste and the experience."
"VIP Sushi & Hibachi is my 'treat yoself' work lunch. You can't beat VIP's lunch specials! I always get their 3 rolls for $12 special. It comes with choice of soup or salad. I always go with the soup! But the bento and hibachi are equally filling and delicious. My personal recs ---shrimp temperura roll (always fresh)-salmon & avocado roll (so fatty/buttery!)-spicy girl roll (a special roll but so so delicious! Instead of nori it is wrapped in soy paper and packs just the right amount of flavor with just enough going on)The crab rangoons are gernously filled and the seaweed salad is standard favorite. You can't go wrong with either. I'll have to stop here for dinner sometime soon!Pro Tip: they do not accept amex cards"
"I ordered Tonkatsu with charsu. The meat was very dry. Nice presentation, the kelp was very good .came out with corn, scallions, fishcske ( kombouku) corn , half a boiled egg and seaweed. The ramen was average, the stock was bland but probably health way to go less spiffing. I would like my broth very hot it was tepid. My eldest raves of this place do I will try for third time and explore the menu."
"Food was yummy and the service was fast I've ate here before I would recommend kind of expensive tho"
"We've been dining at/ordering takeout from Ginza since they opened, and it's been consistently excellent. Food is always super fresh and flavorful. The Yuzu Salmon and Shrimp Shumai appetizers are a must, and the ramen is fabulous. We also love the chicken teriyaki, which is a very generous portion. Of course, the sushi is excellent as well. I've never had a bad meal here. So glad they're in the neighborhood!"
"Great staff and servers. Hard working people. Great service. Last time I went I got moved inside by staff because someone was screaming outside. Food is great otherwise. Staff is caring."
"Food was quite tasty. Lunch specials are a good deal. Fresh ingredients and fast friendly service. Plan to go back again."
"Three things add up to a five star review..food, service and ambiance. Izumi checks he boxes for me. Walked in the door and was immediately greeted and taken to a clean and ready booth. This place is new so the dining area was comfortably laid out with plenty of spacing between customers. The booths give you a feeling of privacy and the noise is minimal.Within minutes we were approached by a friendly young waitress. We asked for hot tea, followed by miso soup and a small salad. I'd say we had it in three minutes. We then ordered crab rangoon, shrimp tempura and a godzilla roll. The rangoon came out as we took our last bite of salad. The rangoon was absolutely delicious, with a nice combination of creamy and crunch.Just as we were taking our last bites, out came our main courses. My gosh, the servings were prodigious! The presentation was very appealling to the eye. The food was not only delicious but beautiful.Just a bit of advice...if you're going to have appetizers like we did, you will struggle to finish your meal. We left packed to the gills.I have a feeling this restaurant is the rebirth of the Tokyo Sushi place that used to be on Washington street. If so, I am very glad to see them back.Bottom line, this is a very comfortable restaurant that serves delicious food with a good attitude.Definately a nice addition to downtown Manitowoc. If you're looking for sushi or Asian fusion food it would behoove you to patronize the Izumi restaurant. You're in for a treat!"
"Love it here! The Batman burrito is really good with ahi tuna and crab with spicy mayo! It has the perfect amount of flavor, freshness and satisfaction to make it enjoyable to eat with how compact and full of savory taste it has. In addition the beef teriyaki bowl is good. I don't love the teriyaki but the steamed veggies and rice make up for it! Both of them are a total of 19$ which is good and will fill you up!Definitely recommend and to save go during happy hour in my pic below! Enjoy!"
"Huge Portions. Cooked fresh and hot. Chicken Teriyaki was on Special for $9.99. There's enough food here for 3-4 meals for me."
"I had the sushi craving HIT as soon as I finished swimming laps at the hotel. They had about 40 mins before closing and the waitress was SO kind to let myself and a few other diners in.I ordered their miso, hand rolls, amaebi and a couple of nigiris. HOWEVER, the highlight of the night was the Sexy Salmon appetizer. Sexy Salmon - Mango, cucumbers, jalapenos wrapped in salmon Anyways, I definitely recommend y'all stop by and check them out, service is incredible!"
"This strip mall China House Buffet has plenty of strip mall parking and has a large dining room.Right when we entered, the staff was attentive and very friendly. The restaurant is very clean. It's bright, has the smell of fresh food.As I have an MSG allergy, I asked China House staff if they cook with MSG and if the buffet had MSG and they were very honest right away about it and said that yes, most of the food has MSG at the buffet. So what they recommended was that I order off the menu and they recommended certain items that would definitely not have msg.I did go by the buffet, and it was very clean, full of interesting options, and fresh and maintained.Because of my allergy, I adored the after the menu and I got General Tso's chicken. The order came quickly, and the plate look lovely with a very large mound of chicken in the middle and fresh green broccoli all around the sides. A side order of rice was large. The Taste was fresh, hot, and tasty, although not the world's best. The restaurant was busy with plenty of families, it was never loud. Staff was attentive to every table. We had a lot of fun."
"PLEASE come here for sushi. You wouldn't think it would be as good as it is, but the special rolls here are so tasty, and such a good deal. The fish isn't necessarily world class quality, but it's always tasty. The workers are so nice, and they always have my takeout ready right on time. I've been here with my mom countless times, and it's our favorite sushi restaurant. The double color roll is our favorite. The edamame and potstickers are great too, but I would avoid anything else other than sushi (the hibachi isn't great). Overall, 99 sushi is a hidden gem."
"Came to Kanpai for a double date and I was very very pleasantly surprised at the level of fish quality of their sushi! Very cute location kind of isolated from everything else. Service was great! They have random weekly deals that were ok.FOOD: - Gyoza: very standard, would recommend if you just really like gyoza. I tend never to order them because I always feel like they taste the same as store bought frozen ones. - Stuffed avocado: I loved this!! I always like avocado but this was just a very yummy creamy appetizer. Kind of like a jalepeno popper but creamier- Party Boat: we couldn't decide on what to get so we ended up sharing this between the 4 of us and it was amazing! The rolls it comes with usually weren't the ones we wanted but we were able to switch them for rolls that were the same price on the menu! Their sashimi cuts were THICK and very fresh tasting.Pricewise was on the higher end but I think it was absolutely worth it! Would def come back to get their sushi again."
"I've been going to Ginza for over a decade. I love their Joy, Wauwatosa, Cinderella & Mars rolls! Great service, wonderful drinks and tasty fresh sushi! The fish that they use in their sushi is flown in daily!"
"Yes! I've found my sushi spot in the Madison area! Everything was super fresh and delicious. Online ordering and pickup was really easy and this is going to be a mainstay in our household."
"I have been to this restaurant a few times, and every time, I have had a good experience. Blufish serves excellent Japanese food with good variety and delicious flavors. It is an upscale, elegant establishment that is a great part of Vernon Hills' restaurant scene. In my most recent visit, I tried multiple dishes that included sushi rolls, sashimi, chicken karage, sashimi salad, okonomiyaki, scallops, and a saké drink. All the food I had was super tasty and good. The fish was fresh and had big chunks or pieces. The okonomiyaki, which is a savory Japanese pancake with seafood, was super yummy. It was my first time having it. The scallops dish, whose name I can't remember, was unique in taste and very good. The sushi rolls were big, and I liked how they were created. We received good service. The ambiance is nice. The restaurant is on the pricier side, but you do get your money's worth. I highly recommend checking out this restaurant if you haven't been here before."
"So fun! Great service, workers were very kind and upbeat. Great spot for a celebration, we went for a bday and got some fun bday treatment. I'm giving 4 stars because like may of the reviews say, they do try to up-charge you here. Suggesting many different things on the menu, when you don't realize that you'll actually have to pay more - so heads up there. They also do charge for water. But the food was delicious. The chef put on the show for us. I was full when it was done. It was pretty empty on a Saturday afternoon, only one other table filled. Chill ambiance, nothing fancy but it is pricier. I'd come back just for the fun and kind service, & fried rice!"
"Hands down the best sushi ANYWHERE! I've been coming here for over 10 years and have yet to be disappointed. The quality of the sushi is incomparable. I always order the Red Fire Roll and it's always so fresh and tasty every time. This place has definitely gotten very busy over the years. That says a lot. Keep it up!"
"Decided to take a flyer at this restaurant a few weeks ago. I had driven by it a number of times rarely seeing many cars in their parking lot, often an indicator quality.Only one person was dining in and one other waiting for an order to go. Resisting an urge to leave, I was soon greeted cordially by the hostess who gave me time to plan my order to go.The order was well packed and didn't leak during the drive, a pleasant surprise. We found the food portions ample and very good tasting even after rewarming. No notion can be offered as to why this restaurant appears poorly attended. The premises are decently clean, the staff friendly and the food very good. How much more can one ask? Hopefully, they'll be able to remain in business for a long time."
"We loved our Alaskan rolls today. Great quality tuna, salmon, and red snapper nigiri and sashimi. It's a cute place with comfortable booths and our waiter was attentive."
"Sushi fanatic here! I am so disappointed by the lack of sushi options on the west side of Madison/Verona. I have passed Akari on Gammon Road many times, but the curb appeal leaves a lot to be desired, so I never really considered eating from here. However, I am home alone this weekend and figured it would be a good time to order carry out, and this is the closest sushi to me.I placed my order online. The online ordering is very simple and straightforward. I ordered A LOT of food because I really wanted to try a lot of different things AND because the prices are super low, especially compared to other places in town.My order was ready when promised, and due to COVID, it was waiting for me at a table blocking the doorway of the restaurant. There were too many to-go containers. They definitely could have cut down on the plastic being used. Otherwise, everything looked awesome. I was super impressed by the thick cuts of sashimi. It might actually be the most generous portion of sashimi I have ever seen, plus it was delicious! In addition, I ordered 3 regular rolls and a special roll. The rolls were very good. I like the amount of rice they used, just a thin layer, but not enough to overwhelm the other ingredients. My special roll (Monster roll,) tasted awesome, but didn't stay together super well. There was also A TON of cream cheese in the two rolls I ordered that have cream cheese. They went a little skimpy on the fish and VERY heavy on the cheese. I personally LOVE cream cheese, so I'm actually very happy with it.. others may not be. You also have to keep in mind the low price of the rolls, I still believe this is a great deal. I will absolutely order from here again, it's quick, inexpensive, and satisfying!"
