"Love love love!!! I can't believe it has taken me this long to review this place. So so so many good things! I am a creature of habit though. I always order jumbo shrimp fried rice with extra shrimp, egg rolls and wonton soup. Orrrr BBQ ribs, Mongolian beef, sweet and sour combo, kung boa shrimp fried rice and egg rolls. The inside has been open to dine in since before covid, but it doesn't matter because the food hasn't changed and they are still quick. The prices are still good and that says alot."
"I've been a customer for 20 years.... The grandmothers sweet/sour sauce recipe is still best ever. Had the large Chicken fried rice and crab Rangoon ... vodka tonics to wash it down. Server was very attentive ."
Our most famous dish with over 1 million orders sold. Extra tender breasts of all white meat chicken hand-dipped our homemade batter and served delightfully crispy. Every order topped with our Hong kong sauce and garnished with green onions. Served over a bed of Bok choy, mushrooms and water chestnuts

"I've dined at Meiji for many years now and I'm surprised I haven't written a review.A very large restaurant with lots of seating, fairly large bar in the center of the restaurant and completely separated. They have six hibachi grills. I've been here for hibachi and sushi and enjoyed both. Of course the entertainment for the hibachi is what you come for and that is dependent on the chef you have. Good atmosphere and never too loud. Service is always very good. As for sushi, it is good but I prefer one other place over Meiji but that is personal taste. Recently, I've noticed the portions of the sushi has gotten smaller. Overall still very good and I'll be back depending on my mood.in the Waukesha area:Other hibachi: try AsianaOther Sushi: Asiana, Pacific Bistro, Sakura and my favorite Fujiyama"
"Finally tried the Gourmet House Chinese food. (Back in the day, this was a Julie Ann's ice cream place. )The food here is pretty good. We had it delivered and it was plenty hot when it arrived. The beef chop suey is ok, but a little different than what we're used to locally. The gravy isn't as thick and dark as most places. It also includes mushrooms and the miniature corn cobs. It was also too light on water chestnuts, which I love. Tasty, but just different than we expected. Next up is the General's Chicken, which is very good! The BBQ pork fried rice is really good as well. The crab rangoons were alright too. All in all, a very good dining experience at the Gourmet House."
"I love sichuan style chinese food. Every time I order the Spicy & Crispy chicken --- my mouth is on fire. The essence of the spicy chili stays with every bite and eventually my lips go numb. Haha. My friends and I always get the Ma Po Tofu. Highly recommend that and also their green beans. We always want to try something new but always end up our favorites. Parking: plenty of street parking and side street parking. I would carpool if you are going with family and friends. They seem to get a lot of delivery and carryout orders. This place is always busy when I go which is a great sign."
"I was happy to see that they brought back their dine-in option recently!During my visit I ordered Crab Rangoon and Szechwan Chicken with saki (Tozai 'Snow Maiden' Negori).Crab Rangoon made for a good appetizer as I waited for the entree. As a fan of spicy food, I found the Szechwan Chicken to be a good balance of flavor and heat. Far from overwhelming, but enough to get a small reaction as I finished my plate."
"This is the secret spot best brunch in town! The plating and presentation make it over the top. Don't miss brunch at Bangkok Tokyo! The scramble was unbelievable."
"I've been missing Jing's, and they were closed fo4 three months, while they visited family in China, so I was happy to get last night! They've been open 15 years!I wanted to order 8 menu items, but I used a little sekf control and ordered 3 and my friend ordered 2, and we shared everything, so that worked out alright. We started with the Scallion Pancakes, and they were amazing! Crisp, soft, chewy, with a buttery flavor from the oil. We LOVED them! The Guotie (pronounced go-TAY) are essentially pork pan-fried dumplings, which are always a good idea. These were on the former secret menu, but dumplings are on the current menu, so order them pan-fried and you should be set.The Shanghai Eggplant is a colorful and delicious dish and served with steamed rice. All the entrees include steamed rice. We ordered 3 entrees, so they served is a larger bowl of rice, rather than 3 separate cups of rice. The steamed fish with scallion and ginger was tender and the sauce was savory with a hint of sweetness. It was cooked perfectly! The Shanghai Duck has crispy skin and is served with some pieces having bone in them, which they told me up front, and I'm telling you now, and a side of sauce that I believe was plum sauce. The duck was good, but the sauce took it to another level of YUM!Hard to pick a favorite entree, but maybe the Shanghai Eggplant only because it was presented differently than I expected and I loved the color contrasts. The Scallion Pancakes are a MUST!Jing's is open for dinner only, and offers dine-in, carry-out, and delivery. They are open Tuesday through Saturday. Jing's is still one of my top 3 favorite Milwaukee Chinese restaurants!"
"I had the pleasure of dining in your restaurant this evening. The portions were decent size and we ordered enough food so that we would have leftovers to take home.We had family visiting from out of town and we were in the mood for Chinese. We have gotten take out for the past 2 years because of the pandemic we weren't able to eat in the dining room. I was surprised when I called to find out that we would be able to dine in your restaurant and be served, what a treat. The atmosphere was nice, the temperature in the restaurant was comfortable, the bathroom was clean. The food was excellent. I loved the Crab Rangoon and I enjoyed the Chicken Lo Mein. We ordered 4 entrees and decided to just pass around the dishes and eat family style. We had a nice variety. The only critique I would make is that the background music was a little too loud. The volume should be more in the background. It was difficult to have a conversation. We really enjoyed our meal and will return again."
"This place great however i don't find theyre fryed rice to be actually fryed. it is much more like regular rice with egg and soy sauce added to it. What i truly do break my heart over is that they removed the General Toes Shrimp from theyre menu. Even tho it is a basic dish, the sauce they use for General Toes is truely amaze and I am sad they dont offer the shramp Mr Toes version any longer. Very nice staff and good foot"
"Szechuan green beans. Spicy salt and pepper pork. Steamed bbq buns. So good. Be sure to check out the authentic Chinese menu and not just the Americanized dishes--you won't be disappointed!"
"Always amazing. Quick ordering with tasty results. I get recommendations for other restaurants that have the same menu offerings and I completely ignore them because I know they will not compare to Tai's."

This has become my go to place for Chinese food. Last night I had curry chicken and it did not disappoint. Won ton soup was satisfying. The egg roll was crispy and full of flavor. The vegetable almond ding was very nice, better than I expected. Portion size is good, always enough left over for another meal or two.

So happy I found this place! The Hong Kong chicken is very tasty!! The egg rolls are huge and like nothing I've ever had. I've been to China and this isn't traditional Chinese food but very good American Chinese that is cooked fresh and doesn't taste greasy.

My husband and I came in on a Monday evening. We missed the happy hour menu, but we're able to take it advantage of the Monday, Tuesday dining specials for sushi. Overall, I would say it was good sushi, but not something that would make me come running back next time I have a sushi craving. My husband got the shrimp hibachi and also enjoyed it. I thought that the sauce and vegetables were cooked perfectly! They had the hibachi experience going on in the other room, which looks like a lot of fun so maybe we come to that next visit. The restaurant area was giant which makes me think it gets busy on weekends. Even though it was a Monday night I would say that the staff were all working pretty hard and were very attentive.

I had stopped ordering from here a few years ago because the taste and quality of the food was declining. I was passing through and was craving Chinese food hard, and this happened to be on the way home so I decided to give them another try and I'm glad I did. The food was very tasty and my family and I enjoyed it. I ordered Lo Mein, Pepper beef, walnut shrimp, and bbq pork fried rice. The portions were large and enough for 2 meals. The food was tasty and not overly salty or oily. I hope the quality stays consistent the next time I order for I don't have to take another hiatus from this place again.

Was invited here with a group - one person had been before. Definitely glad that I went! It was my first experience with hot pot and it was very good. We had the dry braised lamb but I'm sure the others would be solid choices! I'm not the best with spicy food (don't eat it often) but the rice definitely helps to offset the heat without detracting from the flavor. Service was so quick! I also highly recommend the spicy dumplings and spicy string beans - if you have a big group (5+ people, I'd probably order two of these since they were so good). The food was all very reasonably priced. We were pleasantly surprised to see the check.

I finally found out where this place was when I was looking for something else. There is, in fact, authentic Chinese food in downtown Milwaukee, you just have to look for it a little bit. It's across from Shake Shack and Aloha Poke. There is signage you can see from the street, but if you were just walking up Water you wouldn't know unless you were looking for it.I came to try the buffet but they apparently don't offer it on Saturdays. That's fine because they did have the Chinese menu. The names of the dishes are in English, so it's not intimidating if you don't know Chinese. I got the Ma Po tofu and then an egg drop soup and some jasmine tea.The soup was nothing unexpected but it was good. I kind of wanted to try the hot and sour because of the reviews, but I didn't want something too similar to the Ma Po, flavor-wise. The Ma Po tofu was really good. I didn't detect any meat but the dish wasn't missing any flavor. The sauce soaked into the rice nicely but there wasn't too much of it, and it was pleasantly spicy but not mouth-burning.The space is small. It's not fancy but it's pleasant and the staff are really nice. They're also one of the few places around to offer soup dumplings, so maybe one day I'll get the courage to try those.

"Great food! Friendly hostess greeted us fir pickup for carry out. We both ordered large dinner portions and received one large carton of rice. Kind of thought we would have 2 cartons? Not a big deal but would order that next time. Nice restaurant inside. I'd go back to eat there.Highly recommend!"
"Definitely a hidden Mundelein gem! The food is very flavorful and portions are generous- enough for leftovers in our family."
"Really good Chinese. My moo shu pork was the best I ever had! Everything was hot and fresh. The vegetables were nice and slightly crisp still, good sticky rice, crispy egg rolls and spring rolls, flavorful but not salty sauces. The prices and atmosphere are great as well, very clean and cozy."
"One of Waukegans tried and true Chinese restaurants. Don't let the looks deceive you. Great fried rice and egg-rolls. Cash only"
"Been coming here since they open quite a while maybe 10-15 years and never had any complaints! Always friendly always hot always so good no matter what u order! It's a little place with some chairs so u can wait for ur food! On the weekends average wait time is over an hour but so worth it!! Never any issues with the deep fried food which we have had issues elsewhere! There kids when not away at school help on the weekends! If u watch fresh right off the burner ready to eat hot and don't mind waiting for great awesome food than this is the place for you! They are always busy but with a smile!"
"It's quick Chinese take-out--knowing that, it's awesome! I've had really bad Chinese takeout and let me tell you--that was more expensive and smaller portions. I consider China East affordable, it is consistently ready quickly, and portions are huge (I ate for four full meals when I ordered last week!). Food is still hot when you get home, too, because they pack it in a few layers."
"I still don't believe they have raised their prices in years. For around $8 you get a huge portion of food if you aren't doing the noodle dishes. I know I am a creature of habit so I get the happy family with white sauce. I normally branch out at other places but I have been getting this for years so it's become a habit for me.This place is zero frills and yes it will remind you of a Taco Bell inside but they cook the food fresh to order. It's a great quality inexpensive meal that is a quick nosh. Definitely go there if you are near the airport."
"My family & I order our dinner on Saturday June 19th @ 5:30p which was our first time. Once we pulled up; the business had clear signage outside for customer's to call in their order & someone will bring your food out after you text or call once arrive. The service was great, the guy was friendly that took our order & brought the food out. We ordered pint chicken fried rice, 2 quarts of shrimp fried rice & fried chicken. All our food was made to order & prices are reasonable as well which range from $5-10 depending on what you order. We did try their eggrolls & springs rolls (mini spring rolls not normal sized) & we did not like the taste of either. We were very pleased & excited to finally find a great tasting Chinese restaurant near us & know which items to order for our next visit."
"I've been meaning to review this place for some time, because it really is a hidden gem. It's at one end of a small strip mall. It seems to be a mom and pop kind of place, and some of my favorite Chinese restaurants have been that kind. I've mainly had their beef broccoli or some sort of lo mein, but my wife has been more adventurous and shares my high regard. We don't get that way too often since we live on the lower East side, but we do make a point of including a stop here in any plans that take us down 38. Like many similar restaurants, they seem to be mainly a take out place, but they have a nice row of booths and some tables, and the service has been fine. It's a very unpretentious place but worth checking out."
"We usually have the luncheon buffet which is excellent but sometimes we get the takeout which is equally good. For the takeout I like the chicken fried rice which is about one third beautiful white chicken meat. The buffet is always hot and plentiful. On Friday they have salt and pepper fish in a light tempura coating which is really good. Several items are available always such as general tso's chicken, chicken and mushrooms, chicken and broccoli, pepper steak, sweet sour chicken, honey sesame chicken, egg rolls, chicken on a stick, fried rice and then other entrees that are rotated in and out. For dessert there is fresh fruit which is excellent three flavors of ice cream and a variety of cakes and almond cookies. You'll never leave hungry."
"Chans is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. I love their seafood delight my husband loves their beef fried rice and sweet and sour chicken."
"Went here for takeout today. The food was pretty good and had some good options for vegetarians! We really liked the sesame tofu.We couldn't call ahead to order and they were super packed so the food took a long time. But overall it was good, and I'd suggest checking it out!"
"Perfect Chinese take out place. Lots of value for the money. General Tso's Chicken, Orange Chicken, Pepper Steak, Spring Roll, Pork Dumplings, Vegetarian Fried Rice, and Sesame Tofu are the favorites for the family. The place looks boring but they know how to cook and make you happy!"
"Friendly staff serving Chinese food in downtown Milwaukee. The food was above average with large portions at a reasonable price. I would return to this place."
"Food is good and different varieties of Asian food but expensive Service is OK not so welcoming Ambiance is nice and comfy"
"The friendly employees here greeted me at the door, to let me know about the food for my delivery. I love the decor, there are many prized posessions inside."
"Nice local restaurant with great service and fresh ingredients. I usually get the beef and broccoli which is outstanding. The inside is very small and I would get my food to go. Ambiance needs improvement."
"My husband and I have ordered at least another half dozen delivery orders from here since my last update and we've had one dine in experience. All the delivery's have been on time and our order has been correct. The inside of the restaurant is SUPER clean and is really well laid out. It is located in a strip mall and there was plenty of parking. The staff was efficient, organized and friendly. They even have a full bar!The food is GREAT when delivered, but getting it fresh brought to your table brings up to a whole different level. I highly recommend the Singapore Rice Noodles, I could eat those every day, just insane flavor. I hope this place stays around as long as we live here, which with the amount of carryout orders we saw while dining here, it shouldn't be a problem because someone was coming through the door every 10 min. or less to grab an order to go.Yay Asian Thai, you rock!"
"I think for what it is currently, a Chinese take out place, it was 5 star. I say this for the following reasons. Order was taken accurately, and i got it within the time period stated on the phone. Not enough reason i know, so here's more. I ordered the Hunan beef that was supposed to be spicy hot. It was, although mildly so but thats ok. I suspect if I had wanted the heat adjusted they would have done so upon request. So about the food; big fresh veggies, the beef.. surprise, I didnt have to look for it! None of this looking for the beef and getting canned peas and carrots. It had Mushrooms broccoli, peppers, bamboo shoots etc all good and plentiful. I also enjoyed the veggies being cooked but not overly so. It was hot when i picked it up and just the right temperature when I sat at "home" to eat it. Someone in reviews commented it was expensive. Maybe? But the amount of food you get was worth it. My portion could have easily served 2and maybe even 3-4. I definitely would recommend and would go back when in the area. My only comment thats a bit negative is the fork they give you is so tiny it was hard to use it."
"Stopped in quickly for an order of chicken fried rice, and extremely impressed with their fried rice. I typically frequent a different Chinese restaurant on North Ave, but since they're closed until August 1st, I stopped here for the first time. Great Taste has cheaper fried rice and it's delicious! Called and ordered so easily and quickly and the cashier was friendly and offered silverware, although I declined. Will definitely be back and try other foods!"
"Delicious food, portions were just right, service was excellent, and nice atmosphere too. Give them a try!"
"Solid place for Americanized Chinese food. We've tried a few restaurants in the Madison area and haven't been able to find a good Chinese place that had good quality food for a fair price. The general tso's chicken was great, very crispy and the sauce did not make the chicken soggy whatsoever. The lo mein was good and the vegetables were great quality. The fried rice was the best we've had in Madison and we also enjoyed the white rice that came with the chicken entree. Overall the food was great quality and the price was definitely fair for what we ordered. Side note: Staff were wearing masks properly and sanitizing their hands every time they touched something. We appreciate how considerate everyone seemed! We were also offered hand sanitizer after signing the receipt! Great job, QQ!"
"Full parking lot = Great FoodHad a little extra time in my schedule today so thought I'd treat myself to lunch! I saw that the lot was full, only one open space, and I took it. Glad I did. Great lunch specials, great food and fast service! I'll be back!"
