I've frequented this restaurant frequently, enjoying their all-you-can-eat sushi option without issues. However, during our last visit on November 26, around 12:30 PM, the experience was notably different. My family, along with my brother's family, decided to dine here, familiar with the ordering system. Despite the restaurant being only a quarter full, service was unusually slow. While half of our group opted for the all-you-can-eat sushi, the others chose from the menu. After about 45 minutes, those who ordered from the menu were nearly finished, while our sushi had just arrived. We tried ordering our second round of sushi at 1 PM, but by 1:30 PM, it still hadn't arrived, leading us to cancel it. Addressing this with the manager, we requested our bill, which took another 20 minutes to arrive. The service was lacking, as our table seemed to be avoided by the staff, and our drink orders were mixed up - we received lemonades instead of sprites. Furthermore, despite the promise of a discount for the incomplete all-you-can-eat sushi experience, this was not reflected in the bill, and the issue remains unresolved. The lack of an apology or concern from the staff added to our disappointment, especially given our long wait in a nearly empty restaurant.

Mediocre ramen and sushi. The ramen had a strong sesame oil aftertaste that wouldn't go away. Menus don't match online menus posted. Service was dull on a dull afternoon. Charged a dollar for some chili sauce. Lychee martini was good. I wouldn't come back.

Everything was great here. Service was not the best but it was all made up with the fresh sushi options and convenient location. I would recommend if you get the opportunity. All you can eat dinner was well worth it if you can put down the sushi

I am just going to say the inside of the place is very nicely decorated! It's honestly quite nice and it has dark lighting and it makes it feel a little intimate. I think it would be great for pictures. That's probably about it. I also want to warn that my review is only for the Deluxe AYCE and that only. In my honest opinion the food here isn't very good or appealing. The rice in the rolls was far too mushy. The only appetizers that felt homemade were the crab ragoons, and the tempura items. The crab ragoons were nothing what I have ever had and if done differently might have been delicious. The jalapeño wasn't spicy. It was bitter and bland. Being the stubborn person I am we ate the appetizers despite not liking them at all, because I didn't want to pay the extra charge for excessive waste. Honestly I'd pay the extra next time. They were quite disappointing to say the least. The rolls themselves weren't impressive either. The fish was cut very thin. I understand thin cuts when it comes to sushi, but these were paper thin if not thinner. If I ate the caterpillar roll in its entirety by myself blind folded I wouldn't be able to tell you the difference between the fish or taste. Except for the shrimp. It was a thin cut but the shrimp was over cooked and a bit rubbery. It took a while for anyone to come over to take our order (having us mark it on these sheets). The gentleman who served us initially just disappeared without a trace after bringing us our drinks. That sever was incredibly slow and honestly seemed disinterested in serving anyone. I am the kind of person who avoids confrontation so we didnt say a thing. We waited for refills for a while until a second server came by to start assisting us. When I tell you the second gentleman was amazing he sure was. He was super friendly and he was very helpful. He came by to check on us several times. We joked with him and he honestly made our experience a lot better. I always feel like bad food can slightly improve with good service alone. The food wasn't worth it to us. We unfortunately came to try this place out prior to a friend's birthday. They requested this place. I'm not looking forward to it. I am hoping this was a very off day for them and that it was just a lazy Saturday. I will be back, but only because I have to.

I love their margarita and pina colada! I also had the combo tempura which was very delicious and worth the price. I also recommend their all you can eat for lunch and dinner as well, although the lunch AYCE is probably more worth since it's a similar menu if not the same for dinner. Also the green tea ice cream is a must order!!! They also have happy hour off of the full menu from 5-7pm (excluding the AYCE).

I was actually pleasantly surprised by the place. Where it's located it doesn't look like it'd be really nice on the inside, but it really is. I went there for lunch with a group from work for someone birthday one day. There was about 10 of us there. The restaurant isn't very big on the inside, but they do have a few long tables that will seat a larger party. They have some pretty good lunch specials. I got the one with one sushi roll and the ramen.California Roll - I got mine with soy paper ($1 extra) - It was pretty good for a California roll. I usually rate a sushi place on how well they can do a California roll. They pass for sure.Ramen - The broth was really good. Probably some of the best that I've had in Houston. Everything in the ramen tasted fresh and was well prepared.I was happy that they had soy paper, and was ok with paying extra for it. And knowing that the California roll tasted fresh and was well prepared, I'll be back to try the other sushi too. I'll also be going back for that ramen.

Nut allergy friendly - I've been here many times, had many of the appetizers, ramen, and rolls, and never had an issue with nuts.I hate leaving a bad review for a place after going there for years, but in its current state Mikoto has changed so much that I have to raise the issues. In its current state, maybe a 2/5 but it has a strong foundation that I hope will lead to change.I've been going to Mikoto since 2019 for lunch, as you can see by my receipts. I've seen the price change from $15.99 for lunch to $17.99 in 2021 to $19.99 in 2022. I wasn't actively leaving reviews at that time, but you'd see my score change from a 5/5 to progressively decrease over time.Entering Mikoto, you see a bar and a host stand prominently at the front of the establishment. Walking past the host stand, you enter the main seating area, which is comprised of several island-style tables and several booths. It is possible that you will share the island with other individuals or small groups. The AYCE papers are present in boxes at the table. Some of them feel as if they haven't been reprinted since 2019. They are flimsy, or even soggy at times.Service at Mikoto really varies. On some occasions, I've been approached very quickly and had my order taken quickly. In other occasions, it took over 10 minutes for a waitress to approach my table, even trying to flag someone down. The AYCE lunch is NOT fast, especially if you're ordering sushi. Mikoto advertises made-to-order sushi, and will take a while to get you food. An AYCE meal with 4-5 rolls here between two people took over 1.5 hours between appetizers and rolls. When I came here with family, ramen with sushi rolls took nearly two hours. Yet, the fish does not taste fresh anymore. The appetizers vary from overcooked to stale tasting, but used to be a great start to the meal (maybe I caught them on an off-day; the edamame was still good). The water has a strange, musky, heavy taste. They may forget parts of your order seemingly at random - at one occasion, all of our appetizers got lost somehow. The first time I went to Mikoto, I was indeed charged for leftover food. Honestly, I think this is a great policy for buffets to prevent food waste. They were very reasonable about it, as seen in my 2019 receipt. That $3 charge was for about half a roll. However, what really turned me off Mikoto was during my last visit, when cockroaches scuttled onto the table. You can see a small one land on my napkin. Our waiters casually mentioned that they were spraying the place down and just moved us to another table. I haven't been back since then. One day, I might return to Mikoto to satisfy a craving for cheap sushi that comes up once in a while. Except, it's really getting more expensive. I'll keep an eye out to see if reviews improve.
